Maybe I found something:

In the Document Setup I can select the Page Preset with Dimensions, Color, MARGINS - and there "Retrieve Margin from Pinter", but which Printer? Even if i go to "print" and select the A3 printer and afterwards try "Retrieve Margin from Printer" it only gets the margins from my standard printer, not the one I want to use for the document... :huh:

I see what you're saying :) Designer does have an idea of which the 'current' printer is, but doesn't actually update it until the Print dialog has been OK'd and a print job has been successfully run on it, so there is a kind of Catch-22 thing going on - you can't retrieve the margins until you have successfully printed and you don't want to print until you've retrieved the margins. I'll log it and see if something can be done.

We hope we have support for Microsoft IME in the next build which will be in a few days. At that stage your general feedback would be appreciated! If you have specific problems with a particular font you should let us know - apologies if you already have and your report has got lost in the tumult.

 

We think we have dealt with Corel import - Corel will not import PDFs if they use a feature called 'Compressed Streams'. You can turn this off in our export by using 'More...' options and unchecking 'Allow Advanced Features' on the export dialog, but note that it is off by default with the 'PDF (for Export)' preset.

If we print to, for example, Microsoft's PDF driver then vector figures are output when expected, so that points to a driver issue. It may take a bit of digging to work out why the driver doesn't like our output. I seem to remember with DrawPlus there was a problem with line widths and X8 was updated so that very narrow line widths could be specified, so perhaps your lines are too wide?

I think it's just a question of priorities. We will probably implement smart quotes as an 'Auto-correct' type feature which may well debut in Publisher, but could then subsequently be ported to the other apps. Until then you can use <Alt> codes or CharMap as outlined above.

Just a quick update on the CorelDRAW issue - I can see that DPX8's PDF-1.7 files will load into Corel so that's useful info. Thanks to everyone who has helped with this so far. I'm going to see if we can tweak the export options to get things moving. :)

Our PDFs are opened and rendered correctly by Acrobat, and Acrobat Pro pre-flights them as conforming to PDF/X-1a (or whatever), so they are standard PDFs. If Corel Draw doesn't open them there must be an issue with Corel Draw not accepting the PDF standard. [...]

 

I've just been looking at this, and I'm not having any problems as long as the PDF version is set low enough. I only have Corel X6 to hand at the moment and it seems to require 1.4, X-1a or X3. Same results with PagePlus.

 

Yes, we know CD cannot open AD PDFs unless they are resaved from Acrobat regardless of any feature in an AD PDF [...]

Under Text->Show Character and also at direct font selection, some Font names are NOT showing. The font changes but the Name is blank.

 

As an example is the Font 'ADAMO'.

Thanks for the report. :) If there are specific fonts with specific problems easily and freely available out there we should try and patch defensively against them. This may well highlight something that should be handled better in general.

I don't suppose this helps, but I've always seen it as a fact that 'in the wild' the terms are used interchangeably. You can usually tell what is being discussed from the context.

I am having the came problem.  It seems I can paste text into a text frame, but I cannot copy text from the frame. I can highlight it, right-click, and Copy is on the popup menu, but grayed out.

 

I can, however, highlight either all the text or just parts of said text. 

 

Is this what is going to be fixed in 1.5.0.9?

 

Yes, hopefully both issues mentioned in this thread will be fixed in 1.5.0.9. If you still have problem with either when the time comes please let us know!

I do not think that that is the only issue. At first it seemed like it was pasting things in fine, but was only unable to copy, but I just tried to paste in some text from a word 2013 document, and it did not let me do this. I also tried again with wordpad, and it still did not work. However, I attempted to copy text from chrome & notepad into Designer, and these worked.

 

Is this also a bug in the copy/paste system?

 

 Yes, pasting text from Word, Wordpad etc was a separate issue and should be fixed in the next build.

Version 1.5.8, is still printing on the wrong size, the updated drive my impression, and put to print on A4 paper, files 15x20 cm, more look in the attached tanho the printing came out.
