  1. We had a problem where newly created pages / spreads were not automatically adopting the document bleed settings, and of course this affected export. This has been fixed. You should see this fix plus bleed preview on screen in the main view in an update, hopefully later this week.

If you wish, the bleed on export problem can be worked around for the time being by setting the document bleed margins to a different value (so a change is registered) and then back to the desired values.

Since there is a separate Preferences section named "Filler Text" am I the only one who thinks the logical place for this preference is there, rather than in  Preferences > General? :35_thinking:

Photo, for instance, will probably not have the preferences for custom filler text but will probably offer ‘Insert Filler Text as Text’, so our choices would be to have the button move, or to duplicate it, neither of which are particularly appealing.

  3. I don't think it is actually the bleed on the export that is failing. Rather is is that new spreads are not adopting the document bleed settings. I've just tried changing all 4 of my document bleed settings to different values (so that a change is registered) and then back again and the export works fine on my test document.

Obviously we will fix this as soon as possible, but it looks like it is possible to workaround if you have the patience.

Secondly, Adrian_M mentioned that he is able to use LatexIt to perform drag-and-drop into the Affinity Design document. For some reason, I am having trouble doing the same thing. When I drag-and-drop, say the symbol \omega, into AFD document, it simply becomes an exclamation point (!). I am using a Macbook Pro (10.12.6). I am wondering if there is anything special I have to do to make LatexIt compatible with AFD in this case.

Interesting thread :) I imagine this is due to our PDF import not handling fonts embedded in the PDF used for the exchange. If you can install them you will get better results. If you don't know which fonts are being used you could export the file to disk and ty to File > Open it in Designer, which will display the font substitution dialog.

  5. Hi,

Are you using the font list in the Character Page, or the one on the context bar? We identified a problem with the Character Page shortly after the latest build which is causing crashes and this could be confusing the issue. I'm thinking mainly of Point 1 here. The problem will be fixed in the next update by the way.

Also, more in respect to Point 2, do you think there's any chance your crash might be related to a particular font? As I see it there should be no difference between previewing 400 fonts and previewing 4000 fonts unless either we have a specific problem with one of those 4000 fonts, or, and this is possible obviously, we are running out of some resource - memory, handles etc while generating the previews.

  6. Hi Michail,

We have found a problem in .42 where the app will crash when creating / opening a document if the Character Page is open. Do you think this is what is affecting you?

A Ctrl-Run up will reset your Workspace so the Character Page is not showing, so you could try this.

We apologise for the inconvenience but will have this problem sorted out asap.
