DrZigZag reacted to Three in Digital Publishing Feature Suggestions - Interactivity
I would love it if Affinity Publisher outputted all standard eBook formats and
allowed for interactivity in eBooks where supported by file type.
    Interactive features would include:
popups with texts animation sound files ability to turn features on or off within the book page jumps on choice  Since Affinity is the future and interactive books are the future, seems a perfect match to me.
Right now, there are some add-on interactive features programs or software that are limited to very specific outputs;  Kotobee, iBooks Author, Aquafadas, inkling, Interact Builder, DemiBooks, Atavist, Talespring and others.
My perfect workflow would be to draft the book,  illustrate it in Designer (with Designer allowing frame animation), design in Publisher including any interactivity, and export across a wide variety of formats.  I realize this is a huge technical challenge, but it is my fantasy workflow.
    Thank you.

Plain and simply, we need interactive PDFs, buttons galore! Easy email embedding would be a lovely feature too.

Hi - I currently use InDesign to create interactive eBooks in Fixed Layout ePub format. I would love it if Affinity Publisher could also  do this and allow me to ditch the last Adobe product I use.

Video in Publisher this is a must-have.
For Publisher to become professional interactive layout tool for digital magazines and presentations and hope to unseat Adobe InDesign.
I need to place video into Publisher as a digital magazine, presentation. By embedding or attaching it make it's interactive.
And publish as a working PDF.

I truly could use publisher today. This is the workaround I have to do to produce a 12  Mini page booklet with printer spreads 4.5" x 6"
How soon can we get Affinity Publisher.

DrZigZag reacted to urbanistica in Blogging the creation of my graphic novel in Designer
Hey everyone. I've just launched a blog that I'm using to chronicle the development of my graphic novel, Somerton Man.

While I'll be showing some final finished art down the road, the purpose of the blog is to document the creation workflow process. I have a suite of tools I use, that include Photo on both Mac and iPad, and Designer. I also use Concepts, Notes, Scrivener, Sketchup, MakeHuman, Skelly.... well, there's a list. But at the centre are the Affinity suite.

I'm inviting anyone interested to drop by and monitor the progress. I've got lots of good things to say about Designer, and a few criticisms, so I'm also open to ways of doing things more efficiently. There's also an FB page - working on getting that to update when the blog does.

My project is about using Designer as the central hub for bringing the project together. As such, this is only partly about virtuoso technique, but it's definitely about workflow and thinking out the stages of the book. If that's of interest, I'd love to hear your ideas.

    Hi everyone!
Hope you are having a great weekend. Well, I wanted to share something I did and something new for me: drawing a Pug using a "Kawaii style". The intention is to create a character and then having said character in different moods and situations (like Facebook stickers).
As I said, this style is something new for me, so any feedback and tip will be appreciated.

    Best regards!

Practicing with @Frankentoon's comic book brushes and color and gradient swatches, so decided to start with something simple. Funny how when you try something you realize how much more you have to learn about it. Gotta work on those line weights...

I've been working on this for a few months and is the most complicated drawing I've done so far. I had thought about doing it before but knew it would be a ton of work, in reality it was about 10 tons, seemed never ending.

I decided to just do the front half to better show off the engine but I could re-use much of it if I ever wanted to do the whole car. As before it's just the pen tool, gradients, blurs and blend modes, so anyone could do it.

    Hope you like.

As usual click to open, then click to display full size (although the actual output's a lot, lot larger).

No idea why I'm posting this but I suppose it's a vector person's idea of doodling and seeing what you can do with a single conical gradient, well two because of the centre. It's good practice for creating them though. Perhaps it will become a fad (not likely). I've included the styles as you'll all want to use them in your projects.

Right you are!!  It is extortion by Adobe to make someone pay a monthly fee to access one's own previously published books for an update or two.  Affinity Photo is a truly beautiful application, with very elegant documentation and tutorial videos.  Publisher will surely be the same. And it will be a snap to learn, I am sure.  I have used publishing software since Pagemaker 3 (around 1988) and most recently was stuck with InDesign CS6.  Which no longer works with MAC Sierra, never mind High Sierra.  The sample video for Publisher looks superb.  Cannot wait!!
