Just wondering if there's been any progress towards this? If not, I hope writing this can bring some more visibility.
On top of my comments in the initial post, the current default being Whole document can be very sluggish when dealing with big files... As my intention has never been to export a whole document, you can imagine how frustrating it can be to be hindered by something that's of no use to me.
If it's the "remembering" functionality that's holding this back from being implemented, can you perhaps just default to Selection without background if something is actually selected, and Whole document if nothing is selected? Or, if you don't like that idea, can you at least add the option for users to choose their own default? I can't imagine there would be many moving pieces affected by the latter... -
Jesus buddy, it's just a few blurry icons... This in no way stops their product from functioning, and they've gone out of their way to share a temporary workaround for you.
If all you're going to do is fill these threads with whiny ****** then maybe you should try adobe products instead. See how responsive they are to your meaningless complaints. -
Elaborate post and all, but it doesn't really help or belong on this feature request... The main concern here is the text tool, not the pointer tool.
The fact remains that there should be a decent way to switch between "artistic" and "frame" text in affinity. Whatever route they choose to add this functionality, as long as it's intuitive, is fine with me. -
The functionality to switch between artistic and frame text would be a great addition to Designer... Illustrator's implementation of doing this (double click a specific node on a text object, or right click > convert to...) is a perfect example on how it should be handled.
Here's a thread with a whole bunch of other people wanting this as well. -

Can you please add the functionality to remember the last "area" settings used on the export panel? 3/4 of the time I'm going to be using the "selection without background" setting, and it's a pain to have to select that option each time I export something new.

+1– I am also interested in how you did this. Is there a faster way than one at a time?

Probably getting ahead of myself here, but having a way to export the symbols (as svgs) would be amazing.
The current workflow for doing this in Illustrator involves scripting and is not a very fun process.
