If it helps, you can customise the Tools, so that the Mesh Warp and Perspective tools have separate buttons, rather than sharing a flyout.

Goodness, once I read your reply I can see where the confusion would kick in. I blame Inkscape, I wonder why they chose to say arm64 instead of Apple Silicon or M1 and M2.
Aside: You've been using Macs a bit longer than me. I recall the frustration of updated software for the 601 chips not running on my Mac plus.

@jefferis You want to import your image and go Path->Trace Bitmap->Multicolor choose Color from the drop down - Have a good play with the settings.
