Awesome! Cheers Paolo. I'd buy you a cold one or two if you were anywhere near me.  :D

Rediscovered this thread over the weekend and had some fun doing some experimental doodling.

First I painted everything in greyscale using the Photo's "greys" colour palette. I made sure everything was on it's on layer to be able to  experiment with different colours. Then added recolour layers to each and had fun playing around. On top of everything I added a white balance layer to globally adjust the tone to add some nice warmth overall.

Pretty excited about the potential in this non-destructive workflow to do something a little more "advanced" than this doodle. I like the idea of painting in grey tones concentrating on the form of something and not really worrying about colour as I go, then being able to play with colour and other things such as lighting/texture etc... hmmm, must get busy with a real project next.  :)

Most of this can be done in Designer as well, the adding global noise as a layer and lighting/texturing is only available in Photo though but recolour and white balance is possible.

    Cheers.

If anyone is interested in a closer look at my workbook tutorial contribution follow the link below.

I uploaded a few images of the finished piece (for the tutorial you'll have to grab the book ;-) ...along with some information on the tutorial in general and some of what you can expect from it and the book.

I was honoured to be asked to participate in the project and I can honestly say the book is gorgeous and chock full of great stuff, art and information! The Serif team has really created a beautiful, well designed user manual that just happens to double as a coffee table book!

retrograde got a reaction from Gonzini3000 in „Unlock all“ Command
The current lock - command "L" is great but in order to unlock it you need to find it in the layer stack... and you can't right click on it to do that because it's locked... the only time I have been able to unlock something using the command-shift "L" is only immediately after locking something before I click on anything else and while those "x's" are on the bounding box...

    This all needs revisiting IMHO.

Nice stuff Leif. Welcome to the Affinity fold. :-)

I have been using Designer off and on for about 2 years now for illustration work specifically and loving the experience so far.  I am getting into the painting aspect more and more and really enjoy the ease of the vector to pixel to vector workflow.

Checkout my behance link below for a bunch of illo work done in Designer.

I look forward to seeing more of your work. Cheers!

If the transparency tool had an option to gaussian blur as well on each stop, that would be epic and definitely unique I think.

retrograde got a reaction from Dave Vector in Quick flip for stroke pressure profile direction
Lots of times when I break a curve then play with the stroke pressure profile to widen or shrink the stroke widths... it would be super cool to have a quick flip feature to just switch the profile width direction, instead of doing it manually. Currently we have a "save profile" and "reset" button and there is still room in the centre for a "flip" button or the even repurposing the existing icon from the tool shelf could work here, see attached. :-)

    Squeaky wheel here...

Busenitz, I don't see this as a feature, I see this as a one of the basic cornerstones of a vector app's toolset... especially one that is as cutting edge, innovative and industry leading as Designer is.

...would really love to see some of these core and fundamental aspects nailed before adding "x" features and/or export/compatibility functions/workflow/you name it, etc... It's these "little" things that you do hundreds of times over the course of a piece that need to be solid. They're not sexy, they're not buzz worthy, they don't make for compelling video teasers but they are absolutely essential!  :-)

If some of the core structure needs addressing or rewriting as suggested above, in order to make some of this possible, I would think sooner rather than later is the easier course to follow. No?
