Whoa! Really love this bloated little van vector work! The bumper unsettled me a little... mind moving that guy to the right a couple of mm? Signed, a Libra.

Just completed this piece. A VERY stylized 1964 Chevy Greenbrier van in Designer. ;-)
What started out as a client job became a personal piece after they decided not to pursue the project.
I'm planning to build this in Blender eventually so I thought this could serve as a fairly tight 2d colour study and a chance to get a little more practice in using some of the pixel painting features of Designer.
Also shown is a wireframe screenshot, layers stack and a closer view of the headlights where most of the pixel work was done.

Final thoughts on this for me.
Keyboard shortcuts I still think is the easiest solution and it doesn't really require more icons in the layer panel. I understand and respect the UI designers call for a less is more approach when it comes to adding UI elements or more icons... It could be added but frankly with a shortcut, I'd never use it.
And yes, locking/unlocking currently does work by the lock icon at the top of the panel, I agree, as long as you don't have a ton of elements in your document and you can easily find the element to unlock in the panel. I work with hundreds of layers/sublayers, many element/layers sitting directly on top of another. Sometimes I can't even readily see what I need to unlock... Looking for a locked element/layer in the layer stack to unlock is untenable for me. The current setup requires you to select the layer then the lock icon to unlock it, where a simple "unlock all" would suffice and save foraging through the layers panel or even going to the panel at all for that matter.
To be honest, this along with a hide, unhide all shortcut is one of the more important workflow aspects keeping me from fully adopting a Designer workflow for my illustration work currently.
Hopefully 1.6 will be the magic number. :-)

Awesome character Frankentoon!
Nice to see you working the dimensional shading on this one. Designer and Photo are pretty capable digital painting apps.

Hopefully this is getting addressed in 1.6. The current "isolation mode" is only good for viewing not for working...

I'm afraid I don't know of a solution, Kevin. As a Windows user, Safari isn't an option for me: the Windows version hasn't been updated in years!

retrograde reacted to Hokusai in Designer 1.6 Beta – when?
retrograde,
I'm completely agree with you 100%! For me, this is the "holy grail" of features that I've been looking and hoping for since I first used Designer. I don't want to waste my time looking for things in the Layers panel. With complex drawings it is a nightmare. There is a much easier and better solution out there (and it is using a Hide/Show All and a Lock/Unlock All shortcut command). It saves so much time. I hope that 1.6 is magic too!

Slightly off topic but, any chance of getting a little tweak on the "show selections in layers panel" preference for the 1.6 roll out?
Just a suggestion and I do love and really appreciate you adding that pref but it would be great if as you click on a different element in your document, the previous element layer stack re-closes... otherwise you end up with a layer panel that is crazy long.
It's a workflow thing and again, just a suggestion. :-)
Come on easter!! ;-)
