Personally I'd like to see Designer and Photo remain the focus, nailing down all of those promised road map features before branching off the team onto a 3rd tier. Especially Designer. :-)

Aammppaa Cealcrest GarryP retrograde , thank you for commenting!
I am not the kind of illustrator that keep within a limited style. I use different ways of expressing myself in my pictures. Sometimes I use ink, ink and wash, acrylics, watercolour, sometimes colour pencils, graphite, digital bitmap tools and vectors, animation, video or photography, even clay and other sculpture material.... I got no style
What I do is trying to tell some kind of stories using the means and materials that are at hand for the moment. Affinity Photo and Designer are such a great combination of software. I have experimented some to find out how to use them. Now I know most of it.  I use them all the time now. Great software.

Looks great Henry, I especially like the feeling in the bird image, the black and white and the depth of field. I find the man with the scarf a little outside of the style, probably because of the addition of linework, but still all really great stuff! Love the painterly feel.

Artrage has a similar feature where you can bring in reference and it saves with the file so it's always there, until you delete it of course. This feature, while maybe not essential would be convenient for certain applications...

Users need some sort of simple way to organize and save favourite brushes in their own panel. There are now hundreds of brushes, all in separate panels. It's becoming counter productive and I think some sort of system is needed to get the most out of all of these great resources.

    Hi Retrograde,

This is a known issue with switching the UI on Mavericks and has been logged with Development. Not all of the UI is being changed over when you switch UI, however restarting the app will force it, which is why it will have resolved itself.

    Cool idea and execution.

I don't think such an "offset" tool exists yet but in the meantime one way is to create a stroke extra wide then duplicate that stroke directly on top of the first stroke and use it to create a thinner stroke in the lighter colour above the extra thick stroke in exactly the same shape or curvature. The light thin stroke then becomes the uniform distance between what now appears to be two adjacent strokes, I hope that makes sense...

    Hi retrograde,
This is probably an issue specific to Mavericks on the Mac.
I'm not able to test it here (i don't have any system running Mavericks) but i will log this to be checked Monday.
    Sorry the trouble.

Having some weirdness with some of the preference and brush pref window type not being readable, see attached.

Anyone else have this? Looks like it might just be on the Light UI?

    What Are Joyful Junctions?
I'm working on developing a collection of illustrative, colourful artworks, based on visually memorable junctions in and around Scotland. I started with Glasgow, my home town, but have now expanded out to other interesting areas with varying complexity. I'll post some examples of my favourites here, but if you like, you can see the whole collection on my Behance Gallery.

Improvements I'd Like to Make / Affinity Designer Questions
It's my first time using a real graphic design software suite beyond Powerpoint, but it's a testament to the developers that Affinity is so easy to get used to.
That being said, I was wondering if there's a way to have a curve follow the same curvature as another. For example, when I have one road running parallel to another for some section, and want to maintain a uniform distance between the curves for the duration of that section. If this tool exists in the program, please do let me know!

Hadn't thought of doing it that way, that's great! In the absence of a true offset tool, I'll give that a shot, thank you

    Hey Affinity Folks,

Noticed some odd behaviour. It appears that when switching languages from 'Default' to 'English', the spell checker still utilizes the 'English (United States)' dictonary (Eg. When switched to 'English', 'Colour' is highlighted as wrong, whereas 'Color' is deemed correct).

I'm probably the worst person in the world to try and pin this one down, as my spelling is atrocious, but by golly colour has 'u'

Unfortunately the expand stroke/numerous anchor point issue is one of the still lingering factors for me in not adopting more of a daily Designer workflow for my work.

When combined with the inability to scale, rotate, align etc... or otherwise manipulate those extra individual anchor points, I am forced to use other tools... :-(

It's these kinds of things that I am patiently waiting on fixes for. I hope that they are still on the todo list? :-)
