  1. Thanks bodobe. You've got some sweet stuff out there of late too!
  2. Sure thing, first off, I refer to gradients in a general sense as in gradients of colour, not necessarily use of the gradient tool only per se, although that is also part of it of course if that makes sense. ;) A ton of the heavy lifting is done with the inner glow effect. Especially making use of Designer's offset "angle" feature which is a great improvement over illustrator's similar inner glow feature. Sometimes I also get in there and "paint" inside the shapes but not in this case with these guys. That's an area that I am getting into more and more lately. Having the ability to paint in Designer with all of the great native and DAUB brushes has exciting potential. Yes, having some action lines on his tail would have been a good addition... :)
  3. Nice job, neat character idea. I agree with Matt's comment on the background, seems to hiding some of your great work.
  4. Nice job OutlawPete, thanks for sharing. I'm a "work from a sketch" guy too. I like to work out a lot if not all of the concept before hand, and of course when you're working for a client to get that all important approval before diving in. Cool to see the finishing touches in Pixel persona adding a bit of texture and visual interest. Nice to see someone else's workflow, cheers!
  5. Good start Jakub. Nice model. Looks like maybe some perspective matching is a little off. Particularly the bicycle rider (a shadow underneath him would help put him on the ground) and the dark wall on the left hand side, it seems a bit off compared to the buildings left stone wall vertical. Until there is perspective tool, some guidelines would do the job. Maybe some brightness and contrast tweaking too would help to match up with the strong sunlight of the photo. Also as I'm sure you're aware there is a pretty glaring mis-match on the cement curb area...
  6. Thanks GRScott and martyjacobs. It was a bit tricky getting the chihuahua to work because of the bone in his mouth. It was hiding the smile so I exaggerated his mouth on the sides upwards and tried to make the eyes smile as well... glad you noticed it. :)
  7. Thanks guys, yes I'm busy trying to get more Designer work out there in the world. Singing the praises and all that! ;) It's a joy to work in.
  8. Bunnies are breeding here in the forums...! ;) Distinctive piece shudderchris
  9. I'm sure a lot of people would agree with you. It would probably make sense for the Affinity team to look into such a feature.
  10. Matt you are probably correct. If it leads people to Affinity or eases the transition it's a good thing! :)
  11. Cheers Ronnie, I do strive for that overall softer shaded consistency in my shading. I was an old school airbrush guy waaay back... ;) I am starting some new personal pieces that will exploit more of the painterly aspects of Designer. I think it will offer another dimension or artsy level to my work, same drawing style but a little more visually interesting, and more fun to boot. Looking forward to that!!
  12. Haha, thanks everyone. Wow, Dale, I hope you didn't waste too much time coming up with those puns... very well said though I must say. ;) What is it about golf that conjures up the cliched puns... :) Incidentally I believe my client on this one first saw my Designer work on these forums and then contacted me for the work, so cheers guys.
  13. Hi Matt, thanks. Yes the client was quite happy with these. He did say he noticed a nice overall softness to them as compared to my usual work done in Ai and asked if I did them in photoshop. I had to come clean and tell him about Designer. ;) I try to do as much in Designer as I can these days and hand off a web or print res png or psd file unless a client specifically needs or requests an Ai file.
  14. This was a fun little job for Link2Golf, a golf app that offers an "easy as 1-2-3" solution for getting people on the green faster. The app allows multiple people in different locations to communicate together to reserve a course with minimal effort. The illustration is intended for web use and print advertising. The client is also an Affinity Designer user so the file hand off was in native AFD format. ;) All in Draw persona.
  15. Here is some recent client work. 3 stylized doggies for a doggy daycare on Oahu. All in Draw Persona in Designer.
  16. Right, I hadn't noticed it before, thanks. Nicely done, the transparency effects make it look like it's all connected... fyi, personally I don't mind the H and E skewing, it works for the word I think. If the word was "static", maybe not so much... :)
  17. Would love to see some sort of custom panel feature down the road. To drag over favourite brushes, colours, styles, settings etc...
  18. Wow, that's pretty cool, no crit here but would love to see your paths view for this one. Nice job!
  19. Thought so. Nice to see Designer is making in-roads into the paying work world.
  20. Nice job on this OutlawPete. Are you a professional illustrator/designer?
  21. This would be great idea alongside the ability to scale or rotate a group of selected nodes...! Currently still no way to do that I believe.
  22. Hi Hanzz, how does the AP experience compare to your Artrage experience? Some pretty impressive work you've done in that app.
