Yep it's possible but it's a bit clunky to control at the moment or at least I found it that way... see attached.

Really nice piece Ros! I agree with your thoughts on Affinity, specifically for illustration work. For my logo and design work, I am still waiting for the distortion, stylization and effect features to come about before making that final leap for good. Hopefully soon. :-)- 3 replies

Thanks guys. It seems to work when duplicating the layer from the layers palette. I was initially just creating a new artboard in the document then copy dragging everything in the main document window not the layer in the palette... Maybe an improvement would be when copy dragging elements to a new or different artboard in the document window the layer hierarchy copies as well to the new artboard? Also on a side note when you do create a copy of a layer in the layers palette the name is the same. It might be an improvement to add "copy" after the name?

Is there a way to duplicate an art board and have the layer structure you already have on the first art board carry over to a duplicated art board? I just created a second art board and copy dragged my art over to the second art board and it lost all of the layer hierarchy I had set up. Do I need to copy and paste to retain the structure? Thanks. edit - just tried the copy and paste method and it didn't honour the layer structure it juste pastes everything in...

Holy bleep Matt, I didn't know this! :) How did I not know this? Is this new? One suggestion or improvement might be in the main window to just right click on an element to access isolation mode/un-isolation, that way you don't have to go digging through the layers palette... ;) edit - one funny thing... I entered isolation mode on an element and when I went to edit it it exited isolation the moment I clicked on a node...

Yeah, something must've changed as it's part AD's selling point... super smooth gradients.

I have been noticing this in linear gradients as well. Not sure when it started but it is definitely noticeable. There are some "jumps" evident at the start and beginning of these gradients. This is with MAS version 1.4.1.

Great work giantlobsterprd, and videos as well. As others have mentioned it's always a treat to see how others work and their general workflow. There are so many ways to achieve results and seeing a finished piece sometimes only just hints at how it was created. Thanks for documenting and sharing your process! -

I just tried the aco to ase conversion and import. It brought in a totally different palette than the one I wanted and it took a full minute or so to import... Any news on support for aco?

Regardless. To me it makes sense that if it's in the keyshort prefs for draw and I can change it, it should work for path or pixels selections?

Hey guys, second time asking about this. Keyshort input isn't working to setup "deselect" in Designer draw mode. I am attempting to setup a command-shift-a keyshort to deselect in draw mode designer. I am able to input the keyshort but it doesn't work. In fact the command-d keyshort default doesn't work either (only in pixel mode even though it is shown in the draw mode keyshort prefs window). Only the escape key seems to work to deselect and I'd prefer to stay with my 25 plus year muscle memory keyshort. Is this a bug or designed behaviour and if designed I'm wondering why have the ability to assign a keyshort and have it not work?

Digital Painting - Brush Opacity Pressure

I seem to have pressure controlling opacity in both Designer and Photo. Without pressing down the "force pressure to control size" button in the top tool bar it works fine when using my tablet. I haven't had much success with Krita anytime I've tried it. Maybe it's because of the OSX not ready for prime time aspect... I find the UI a little scattered, but I'm probably not giving it long enough of a trial.... -

Hopefully this will start getting some love in the next beta please... :-) a little more control of nodes as opposed to the whole shape would be most welcomed... align, scale, rotate.

If/when you add or consider a perspective grid feature please make it easier to setup than the ai version. I just tried (and failed) to setup a simple 3 point perspective grid over top of a sketch. Couldn't figure it out and had to abandon it... too many things to click and move and half the time when I was getting close I just simply couldn't get it right or I would move something and the whole thing would shift. Very frustrating experience...
