  1. Hi David, what type of file did you sent out? Pdfs? Or does the output place have Affinity? I'm curious as I usually export everything out as hi res image files.
  2. Sweet, nice island. I was just there a month or so ago. Strictly as a tourist although I do a lot of work for Hawaiian clients. Mahalo.
  3. Looking pretty sweet Ronnie! Pork scratchings, haha I've always loved that name... classy ;-) ONSO, which Island do you call home?
  4. Cool! Great slippers/shoes. ;)
  5. Nice use of the brush though, too bad about the performance. Hopefully you'll get it sorted.

Your welcome guys, yes for 7 bucks it's a nice compliment to the digital painting arsenal.
  7. Cheers everyone! I myself have followed many tutorials over the years, this is the first one I've completed for any app and it feels great to share a little bit of what I know and my workflow with everyone. Feel free to post any results you have from the tutorial, I would love to see them! Thanks to Envato for asking me to do this!
  8. If you're talking about something similar to Zbrush's lazy mouse or Blender's sculpting smooth stroke?... Yes please!
  9. WOW thanks misc33 and ChrisP!! It's a GREAT feeling knowing people are benefitting from the tutorial. You never know how many, if anyone, are going to invest their time to go through it, especially one as long as it turned out to be. :-) Yes, It was a long process to document virtually every click but I think that's sometimes what it takes to really show how to do something, especially in a written tutorial. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
  10. Try changing the blend modes in the layers panel. Multiply usually will make white transparent. See attached. Of course in your case the type will be somewhat transparent as well.
  11. Looks good Insecto, looks like you're enjoying that noise feature too. Suits it. Like the colour scheme too.
  12. Hey Ronnie, don't mean to hijack your thread but you can checkout my Envato written tutorial now at: http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-detailed-beer-label-in-affinity-designer--cms-26010 or from the the forum thread here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/19509-new-affinity-designer-tutorial-cowboy-dog-character-beer-label/&p=90636 Cheers!

    find colors

Both of those are pretty sweet. Going to look into them a bit further soon. I found a great little app (for 7 bucks!) called Colour Constructor for digital and traditional painting colour idea generation. It works with light falling on an object that generates palette swatches from the highlights and shadows. All colour is customizable including the light colour and number of lights. Awesome resource for the painter in all of us. Here's a link to a polycount article on it and the Gumroad link to buy it. I also attached a screenshot I took of my version for a quick look at the simple but pretty awesome UI. http://polycount.com/discussion/154487/new-painting-tool-colour-constructor https://gumroad.com/l/ColorConstructor
  14. Nice work. I prefer the middle version. To me it has the feather feel because of the pointed end but doesn't have the inner circle element, which I feel is distracting a bit from the overall cohesiveness and doesn't seem to be contributing anything meaningful to the overall mark. Imho. :-)
  15. Wow! Thanks MBd and you are most welcome, it was a lot of work to create something AND document every step like that. I guess as you say they really are simple techniques that add up to something tangible and recognizable in the end. I come from a traditional air brush based background so I guess this is sort of applying some of those techniques in the digital realm. I'm glad you enjoyed going through it.
  16. Hi all, a recent tutorial I did for Envatotutsplus on Affinity Designer is out. It's a step by step from start to finish type of tutorial of my basic workflow developing a fun Canine Cowboy character to a cartoony semi-realistic finish. It's an intermediate level tutorial so some knowledge of Designer is required. :-) Check it out at: http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-detailed-beer-label-in-affinity-designer--cms-26010 Also checkout the attached image here for a preview of the final image. Have fun! Retrograde (aka Kevin Creative)
  17. MEB, a couple of things here that I find strange. 1 - it seems it only works if what you want to isolate is NOT selected. If it's selected then option clicking on the layer does nothing. 2 - Once you do isolate it then go to edit it, everything else comes back and it's no longer isolated. What's the point of isolating if you can't do any work on the isolated object?
  18. I'd prefer to have it off as well. Or at least have the choice. I am currently working on a piece and every time I copy drag an element off the artboard to do some experimenting, it puts it at the top of my layer stack. I gotta say I'm not yet warming up to the layers/artboard "symbiotic relationship" implementation. I would rather just have layers in my layers panel no art boards. I love layers, I love art boards, just not joined at the hip. Edit: so it appears that there is a preference for clipping, I thought I remembered that. Good to see it! Edit again: Seems the option is turned off or greyed out for documents with artboards... hmm...
