No, that isn't really 3D. That video shows how to manually emulate 3D via ctrl + j to duplicate a bazillion copies, combine, add outlines, offset, etc., etc.

The Beta didn't have more styles. Are you sure you haven't downloaded and installed additional styles from the forum or somewhere else? I've listed a few shared by other users here.
Affinity Designer Beta also didn't have any 3D functions. The only effect you have that simulates 3D is the 3D you find in the Layers Effects dialog. Here's a video tutorial that uses it to simulate 3d text.
Mac version shows 3d via you tube //Also thanks for that link Which should be added for easy edit ,and that be renamed to bevel as it is on the plus programs

There's nothing missing from the Beta. To access the Text Styles panel go to menu View ▸ Studio ▸ Text Styles.
i did there is only the default one .As with photo .It should have many more the beta had more Plus, how do you make 3d text. The 3d check box is for bevel

The links in the book are of teal ,and a might small.. Should be bigger ,and a darker color Plus, any text that is teal should be a darker color.The links needs to have a forward slash also. I mean not everyone is a Internet guru...just saying.. . Further more what happened to Droid output. png doesn't mean ios .Apple didn't invent png. Slice exporting all that is talked about, and shown is apple this or that.Workbook needs to be pc/droid also or just be in general Yes, I have a Windows keyboard cutout in the back of the hardback book. What about a PDF that would be $15 if bought separately or free if you got the hardback it would also have all the fixes .This way we could just double click the link., and kinda not look off the screen or copy and paste. You know more intuitive. 21 century. I might add maybe there should be a ftp depository for this so it cant get updated and bigger ,and people could get updates on that via news. Just a side not most work could have been done in a shorter time ,,ie the logo ellipse-(lace frame) could have been down in three moves instead of what look like 15 .Well 5 anyhow. Still, nice book. Really nioce layout. Hope to see the same with the other programs With the afore mentioned updates ,and also online one too.

Yeah, subscription is a nice idea (for Adobe), but not for me. I wish them luck, but after 25 years of buying and using their products I, for one, am switching to something more reasonably priced.
I've weaned myself off Photoshop and I'm in the process of weaning myself of Illustrator. If I can add InDesign to the mix then that would be amazing. I don't think Publisher will be an InDesign killer for a while though. It'll probably take a couple of versions before it has most of the features we're looking for. I get the feeling this product will hit the ground jogging and build up to a run, in subsequent years. But an Adobe free future looks more plausible. :)
Thats the problem i was always using Amiga stuff ,and even now I still do., I never had any problems oh yeah better output quality.If only people would have kicked the tires.

The different apps need different capabilities, otherwise they'd all be the same app. Affinity Publisher will be focused on text.
Logos are usually simple images, without enough text to need wrapping.
What will hinder Serif most and has what cant be done or wont be done

Our leading is actually pretty sophisticated. We have it as a paragraph attribute, to help ensure leading is consistent over the whole paragraph, but we also have a per-character leading override for the rare occasions that's necessary. In the paragraph panel, you can set leading to an absolute value, or a percentage of the text's pointsize, or a multiple of the "ideal" leading specified by the font designer, or to "at least" an absolute value (where the leading will increase if some text is taller, but won't decrease). It may not work how you are used to (Adobe apps tend to rely on per-character leading override and don't have much at the paragraph level, so most people ignore it, while in Affinity it is key), but if you look into it you should find it is quite capable.
That sounds like a bug. This Windows version is a beta so you should expect some teething problems. We'll get them fixed.
You can. Layer > Convert to Text Frame should work on any vector object.
Text avoidance areas, or wrapping frames, will be a feature of the forthcoming Affinity Publisher. Our approach is to offer a suite of programs, each specialised in different areas, that all work together and share a common file format. No one of our programs is trying to be a jack-of-all-trades.
Then in the end like xara make a Serif- Affinity Quadro Pro ..Like xara all are built in except for the video editor ..which is understandable.. This way , people like me that want this option. Get a great deal on getting a truly integrated program. all three plus the websdesign program ..yes the word wrap works internal ..I mean the pro will be a little more so u get extra,but hey its worth it.

My impression is that you are the only company being able to somehow kick Adobe’s butt.
pfft funny Amiga software/hardware was able to do it ,and still does for years..furthermore just ,because it says adobe or avid doesn't means its always used..That is brainwashing ,and assumption at its best/worst.
Granted for x86 ..aka mac-pc i think affinity has a chance From what i see,tested IT kicks adobes arse. Now be more like XARA in the distribution of things ,and of course come out with the web affinity.

system still says you dont have win 7 sp1 ,and of course some will say oh is it a legal copy ..dont go there. That wont matter., again i have waited three more weeks. Now it wont run ..i guess progress???

i am meaning like I said . you cant install period .SO If you cant install then u cant beta test .I have programmed many of programs before one thing is for sure. You make sure the install always works. like whdload .You make sure it works

well it doesn't help when no one reads what I said in the first place. You cant install. Period So that means since u arent in with the programmers you have to take this to the programmers ,and they have to fix it. Really, , its like this.. ..telling someone oh what version of windows do you have when the computer is fried.aka it wont install. when the computer wont even turn on. affinity is trying Is trying to install _ cant see anything right so it cant install aka wont turn on- therefore might as well not ask what version of anything.. Other programs from serif and other programs across the board install .net fine when u don't have it, Plus they read my sp1 fine. .Again problem/ error on the program as I have said now Thrice. That point is no help to me .What would be of help is to fix the error.Not unlike the pageplus script to get it ruining to install for win 8. I know Affinty problem is far beyond that pageplus startup install script.Which is more then likely fixed by now. Furthermore I am not a novice .

1. one if someone could read.Then the ? wouldn't be asked. Repeat, I have all of the above. It hangs again on it trying install it . So it matters not.It tried to install it.So if you didn't have it like a good little program it tries to install it. FAILS . Again I expect the admin to repond here. AS they have direct contact or so I hope with the programmers .

on reads system wrong aka says I dont have win 7 sp1 ,and I do, and wont go past .net frame work install even though I have both already installed. You have my user name .Therefore I would appreciate admin if you would contact me via email. Version. Beta Windows.

Since programs are basically being replaced in the long run why cant Affinity just import all the files from them aka pageplus, and so forth. I mean really sure they will still work ,but sooner or later they wont do what we want to do ,and the file we want to import wont work,and we cant edit a finalized version. Affinity imports mac stuff whats a few more on the windows side.

In al truth retina is less quality then a lot of other pcs of which ur mac is a pc. I dont beat around the bush I tell it like it is. Just like any system the bigger the picture when set at a certain size aka if it where 1024 X768 that is size not resoution contrary to what people have been taught.Hence if it streched ti anything BIgger it will look blocky..This will happen on any system..Also,there was a design flaw in webplus still there. The first hybrid graphic meaning graphic over text in a website tended to be pixelated no matter what. TIll you rerendered like 5 times till sundayThen I would save that correct version ,and rename it to the number or name that webplus wanted when the website was finalized thereby no worries. The bug is still in webplus x8. That is what could be happenig in your software, by the way.

I couldnt find this topic anywhere,or at least in one area. While still in beta .I was hoping as its serif ,and also showing off the other companies such as Adobe ,and also being so nice.that the import of the older program types would be implemented..Amiga side has done it before. Also , you are importing mac side. I know I want an all in one solution to better interegrate programs so at least that part is done.

Updated ..Thought it wasnt at first looked closer hoped it was ..then said oh yeah no tutorials on windows even though exact same hardware just different keyboard.So yeah no 3d ..My bad at that point SO maybe is there going to be a update for 3d ,and/or some kind of plug-in we can use to make it 3d.
