tarc got a reaction from thedivclass in Suggestion : Color wheel fill default (Designer)
Clicking on the color wheel is a very common action.
It would be nice not to have to always check if the focus is on fill or stroke.
It could be like this :
Default click on color wheel = Always fill color
Alt+click or right click on color wheel= Always stroke color.
A nice usability detail that would increase productivity
Could work on swatches too.

tarc got a reaction from Dan C in Affinity 2 Designer Warp Perspective crash and error report
HI,
Hi had an issue with the mesh crashing while adding nodes.
Switching to "Metal" in the Preferences->Perfomance->Display seems to have resolved the issue. (Mac)

Any ETA on non destructive free transform, perspective and warp tools like those found illustrator/Photoshop?

Although affinity is a very good software, the lack of mesh warp, warp brush or puppet warp prevents me from using it as a production tool.
Exporting from one software to another to do specific common actions is a pain.
It's surprising that this tool isn't implemented with all the traction affinity has.

Xara Designer can use right click for stroke colour too - is very convenient, and see no reason not to adopt this approach.

Agree! I like the CorelDRAW concept... over the color: right click for stroke and left click for fill color, simple like this.

Hi,
I always found the fill/line toggle selector to be a slowdown for such a repetitive task.
It would be nice to be able select line or fill color directly, not having to stop and focus on that icon.
For example, Alt+clicking the color wheel (or swatch) could set line color.
Shift+click could force select the fill color...
Thanks

+1 for a light UI.
I always work by daylight and it's better in my perception .

tarc reacted to R C-R in New objects -> Always Default
There should be a two icon "Defaults" item on the main toolbar. If you are using the default toolbar arrangement, it should be the second item after the Personas icon set. Both icons use a rounded 5 point star, one with an up-pointing arrow & the other is filled in & has a red slash mark in it. The first one syncs the defaults for the currently selected tool to the current selection; the other reverts that tool to the defaults.
So for example, if the Pen tool is defaulting to the last used fill & stroke colors, selecting the Pen tool & clicking the second icon (with the slash mark) reverts those settings to the factory defaults; conversely, clicking the first icon with some object selected sets the Pen tool to use that object's settings the next time you draw something with the Pen tool.

Unfortunately no, but if you copy the new object and then select the original, you can paste the style of the original one to the new one. (Edit > Paste Style, or Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + V).

Hi,
Is there a way that new objects doesn't pick up properties of last selected but always use default?

tarc got a reaction from Paul Bravery in Join Lines problem
Hi,
It appears to be working today, even without selecting nodes.
A mystery to me, I have tried all the suggestions and couldn't join lines yesterday.
I'm still in the learning process, that's probably why ! I have experience with vector programs though.
Affinity is definitely interesting, and I'm hoping it will become my main vector tool.
Thanks for the help !
