  1. You can set color profiles in several places throughout the Affinity apps, and there are even options to embed the color profiles in some of the exported image formats.
  2. Out of curiosity (and anticipation), is there a rough estimate on how long it is expected to be before those betas are out - very rough, like this year yet, within the next 12 months, ...?
  3. I agree that it should be possible to disable this. Otherwise it is a misfeature.
  4. I can't really imagine percentage of "original size" being as useful as whether or not the image fits the part of the page where I need it to go. Even the concept of original size is questionable unless the image was scanned from paper, as you could zoom in and out a bunch of times when creating artwork, the distance of an object from a camera might not be consistent if working with a photograph, etc., so the original size in most cases is an imaginary metric and doesn't really equate to anything useful. The actual DPI it will print at is meaningful for a raster image as it helps to identify whether or not something will start looking grainy due to lack of data... but that is purely a function of the actual pixel resolution and the placed size, so original size is again irrelevant.
  5. Maybe Intercal? More seriously, Lua is specifically designed to be used as an embedded language and is probably a superior choice for this purpose than any of the languages mentioned here.
  6. Don't forget the "Continuous" option in the Export persona - you can have Photo automatically update the TIFF each time you save the document.
  7. One thing to consider here is that different printers might use ink in different ratios for the same document. For example I have a color laser printer that seems to use some of the color ink when printing a purely black document: I think their color management must have determined that the black ink isn't really black and added a bit of color ink to compensate for whatever the black ink isn't absorbing of the light. Different printers with different ink formulations, after color management is applied to the document, will use the ink in slightly different ratios, so for a tool like the one you are suggesting to be accurate it may need to account for the color management profile of the printer that the document will be printed on.
  8. "Preserving" the percentages doesn't make any sense logistically in this context. If the width were actually set to 43% (to borrow the above example), what would it be 43% of?
  9. There have been indications that the file format may not be 100% stable between now and the release so I don't think they would be too interested in spending time on publishing it at this point.
  10. There is no current beta. The current release version is newer than the beta (1.6.7) which is probably why it won't work.
  11. I agree that seems like a bad shortcut to have there. If they are going to give it one it should be something strange like command+option+shift+F6 or whatever.
  12. They won't be to get everything right out of the gate. While I agree they will need to implement this before some users will consider making the switch, there are still lots of use cases for the software even without that, so they seem to be focused right now on getting rid of bugs in the features they do have and making a stable build available for people who can use it with the current features, then I would hope they would make this one of the early priorities for things to add after that. It seems 1.7 will be the first "stable" release and will undoubtedly make a lot of people quite happy (including me) but it might be 2.0 before you could really start to compare it with InDesign and the like.
  13. I think "Vector Persona" is a good clue here. It is the name of the main persona within Affinity Designer. I suspect that when Designer is available, the Vector Persona will effectively convert Publisher to use the Vector Persona from Designer, not switch to the entire Designer app (there is an option in the File menu for opening the file in the other apps already, so this definitely seems to be different from that). I would then hypothesize that the Photo Persona opens the primary persona from Affinity Photo (called the Photo Persona) within Publisher. Again, for the other personas within Photo, you would use the option in the file menu to actually re-open the file in the other app. This is just a pseudo-educated guess based on the various hints floating around and the persona names, but it's what I've got for now
  14. Yes, this is pointed out on the various threads which reference where the beta can be downloaded. It is expected for now and probably will remain the case until the APhoto and AD 1.7 betas come out.
  15. How can something be linked if it was copied and pasted? Unless APub wrote it out as a file somewhere this shouldn't be possible so it makes sense that it would be missing from the disk as it was probably never there to begin with...
  16. They won't be able to change it that much because it would introduce issues when transporting the files back and forth with Photo and Designer. Granted that they have the opportunity to introduce changes that will be available in all three programs, but substantial changes to the layer system would need to make sense in the other programs also.
  17. You can remove an individual master by deleting its "layer" in the layers palette.
  18. You can add your own keyboard shortcut for the guides manager if you want one. In preferences -> keyboard shortcuts...
  19. You could also try switching to light mode if having trouble with seeing them. It might be easier on some displays.
  20. How far into the future did you need to go for that? Last I checked they had just released 10.14, not even at 11 yet... I would guess you meant 10.9.5 but that wouldn't be the latest. On the subject of 10.14, a number of audio plugin makers are reporting issues with the new version and recommending that users hold off on updating. I suspect they aren't the only ones.
  21. It would also be nice to have an option (probably buried in a menu somewhere) to set the origin point to the center of the page - maybe center vertically, center horizontally, center both? Actually, I could almost see a submenu somewhere in the menu bar: Coordinate System -> Show/Hide Origin Point Set Origin Point... ---- Upper-Left Corner Origin Lower-Left Corner Origin Upper-Right Corner Origin Lower-Right Corner Origin ---- Top-Center Origin Bottom-Center Origin Center-Left Origin Center-Right Origin Page Center Origin ---- Invert Vertical Axis Invert Horizontal Axis Measurement Units -> Inches Millimeters Picas/Points Lightyears ...
  22. That is curious... Photoshop in that screenshot shows the image as being at 50% yet it does appear to be scaling it up rather than down. Not sure how the whole "vector smart object" comes into play when this started off as a raster image...
