I have split these posts from the announcement so that thread does not go any further off topic, but you are not following this new thread so I am using the @ to tell you so you don't think they were deleted
(also @B064RT I love your username)

Clearly, the new boss is paving the way for newcomers. Many Canva users are unfamiliar with Affinity, so they require tutorials to grasp how to use a professional design app. Step by step, my friend—step by step.

I think I'll hold off on updating until more information about the recent acquisition is made public.

An update right the day after the announcement that has everyone worried? No, thanks.

The only question is whether Affinity will offer a subscription in the future? I have bought a lot of brushes for your software. Especially on the Ipad, I am not willing to pay any subscription fees. I have purchased your software twice (v1. & v2). You say there are no plans for subscriptions at this time. But just wait until the Canva bosses change their minds, because greed is a virus in upper management. RIP, Adobe Alternative.

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention it.
But using the text frame inset via Publisher's Frame panel is only a "quick'n'dirty security measure".
You can just as well apply a paragraph style with indent and space before to keep the characters inside the frame.
Or continue using artistic text while placing it in a parent blank rectangle shape that would "mimic" the static frame for the warp group.
There are many possible workflows to achieve the same goal.
    Publisher is no requirement here.

    Also, I don't think it's a bug.
There are just certain limits to how multiple complex features can interact.
A solution would be an option to dynamically bind the warp group bounds to the bounding box of its content, i.e. when the content bounding box changes, the warp group bounding box changes accordingly as well. This is currently not the case: once created, the warp group remains static.
On the other hand, such an option would inevitably lead to other "unexpected results" elsewhere.
    That's the price of complexity, I guess…

It might help if you would provide a sample .afdesign file so we can see exactly how you're doing that work.

Well, the idea of this feature is morph the word and keeping it editable. Converting to outline will make this project unusable.

This looks like a known "phenomenon". Or perhaps a bug, what do I know.
You're using "artistic text" for the logotype which dynamically changes the size of the object bounds.
Try frame text with constant frame size and padding instead, so that the text never appears outside the frame bounds.
You may need to create a new perspective group for that, however.

Great to hear that! Personally, I'm not a big fan of plugins either. So, I view this idea as more of a fantastic feature. With the addition of the amazing shape creator tool, it will truly become a perfect combination. Just imagine the endless possibilities! When you select this tool, envision a button conveniently located at the top that allows you to effortlessly choose a grid. It will be nothing short of magical!
I hope so, it will save time during the creation process. I mean, I love taking my time to build a logo, don't get me wrong. It's just that a helpful tool like this one will boost productivity to another level.

I came across this incredible discovery on Twitter (yes, I'm well aware, the platform is now referred to as X). It's an amazing addon for logo designers. I was wondering if there's something similar available for Designer, or if we could potentially create it ourselves using our internal tools like macros. I'm really curious to know if achieving this is within our reach.

    Thanks for your post @albertkinng!
I'm unable to find confirmation currently if this is expected behaviour, or if Designer should be automatically creating a Slice for each Artboard created when importing a PDF file - therefore I have asked this question of our team and will be sure to respond here with any information I'm provided
  22. Thanks
albertkinng reacted to walt.farrell in Imported Artboards lack Export Persona functionality due to technical limitations?
It seems you have opened a PDF file, where each Page has become an Artboard named Page "n", which is expected.
You end up with only 1 Slice automatically created in the Export Persona, covering the entire document. However, you can create additional Slices if you use the Layers panel in the Export Persona, select all the pages, and click Create Slice at the bottom of the panel.
This is the way Designer has always worked, even in V1. I don't know if this is correct, or if each "page" Artboard should automatically  have a Slice created, as when you open a .afdesign document that contains multiple Artboards.
That would be a design vs bug question for Serif to answer.

Through my experience, I've come to understand that rationality seldom raises its voice. Confusion between perception and reality can arise when the functionality of certain tools appears to address one need over another. Ultimately, these tools are designed to meet alignment requirements. Having said that, you're entitled to your opinion, regardless of whether I agree or not. It's important to note that I'm not disputing your viewpoint; rather, I'm simply providing clarity on the intended uses of specific tools within Affinity Designer. Wishing you a fantastic day ahead.
