They have already said they're not interested. And if they were to close this topic, someone would just start another one.
If they can make it work, the next question would be will it perform well enough. And the one after that will be can they keep it working with future updates, and how much effort will that take?
And if it doesn't perform well, or has bugs that don't happen in a supported environment, or breaks with a future update, how angry will the users be who paid for it because they'd heard it works, or tried it and found it worked. And then it didn't, one day.

How many of the quarter billion computers sold were replacement machines? Ditto for the five million that would be Linux.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm not offended or angry!  I admit to feling a bit frustrated that so many people seem to think that Serif are incapable of understanding their own business, but that's just me getting old and crabby - it's not personal

Is there any particular reason you did not attach the file itself to your reply? It is generally better to do that so we can download it without having to blindly open a new web page that could take us to anything, including some sites that contain so-called 'drive by' malware.
To be clear, I am not accusing you of doing anything nefarious, just pointing out why some may not want to click on that kind of link.

And how are we to know what it is from a domain name like d.pr? If you had used a droplr.com URL that might have helped.
In any case, attaching the file directly here if it's of a size that the forum allows is much easier for us and probably for you.

Be that as it may, it is not obvious from the URL you posted what it is.

Not going to happen!  Serif, along with many others, use LibRaw to provide RAW support so the timing's out of their control.  Adobe seem to have much closer links with the camera manufacturers and will probably always be quicker to offer support for new formats but they're not there yet.

All university cities, and we all know that university students are too poverty stricken to buy software and therefore producing Linux versions wouldn't be commercialy viable. 😉

True, and probably better in this case, but I usualy like a "soft" border between sharpened and unsharpened areas.  I should probably learn how to feather selections!

Working under Wine would be nice. I would welcome it.
    BUT
It's never going to be in a commercial company's interest to tout "works with Wine" as a selling point. Imagine the flood of animosity toward Serif if they broke Wine compatibility with an update. "I bought Affinity Designer to use on WINE with FreeSpire, now with update 1.9.24 it's stopped working. What are you going to do about it?".
If they can't use it as a selling point then why would they waste resources on it?
When I started in the IT business my boss told me on the first day "Use the OS you need to run the software you want to, don't run an OS then try to find software for it". I believed him then and I've seen nothing in the last 40 years to change my mind!

I can't really speak for Serif, but, as has been pointed out many times:
Firstly, Linux has a very small market share. Of those people who do use Linux, very few are likely to have need of / want to purchase the affinity apps.
Secondly, Serif are already developing three apps on three platforms. The vast majority of users, I am sure, would rather the existing apps were improved, (there are many outstanding bug reports and requests for new features,) before Serif start developing their apps for another platform.
It's totally unrealistic to expect Serif to invest large amounts of time and money based on the "build it and they will come" argument; the simple fact is that it makes no financial sense whatsoever to waste limited resources on developing the Affinity apps for such a small market. A (comparative) handful of people repeating the same things over and over again is unlikely to make any difference!

I think it is that @augustya is looking for something that does not exist, that being a simple, quick & easy method to separate the subject from the background that always works regardless of the image content, & is never tedious or 'boring.'

IanSG reacted to PaulEC in Picture not same as export and how do i denoise film photos?
I could well be barking up the wrong tree, but you say this is a "film photo", also it looks like it was taken on a stage, lit with spotlights. If the original is actually film (rather than digital) then, from the looks of it, a very fast film was used and the "noise" is actually film grain. Both high speed film and stage lighting tend to be quite "contrasty". Although it is possible to reduce the contrast and "noise" to a certain extent, if it was my picture, I think I would prefer to make a feature of these things, rather than trying to remove them! 😉

Hi Thomas and welcome to the forum!  The GT 730 is only able to support Direct 3D feature level 11 - the Affinity products need feature level 12.  There's no work round other than upgrading to a modern GPU, but that's not a cheap option!

    Not bizarre at all - 3 points spring to mind;
A number of feature requests are accompanied by overblown descriptions of the benefits to be gained / catastrophes to be avoided if only...
TANSTAAFL - even granting that the request is a good idea, implementing it isn't cost free and not everyone thinks it's worth it.
Posts which adopt an agressive tone and include ad hominem attacks on specific forum members and anyone else who disagrees.  It's not a logical reason for pushing back but it's human and should be obvious to anyone trying to present a case.

I know we've seen similar requests before, and this is the standard response, but is asking for help with finding (e.g.) a proof reader any different from asking about (e.g.) DAMs?
