  1. Can you be specific about the export location - it might help identify what's going on.
  2. I understand that, I'm just pointing out that there may be better ways of managing the current situation than using DPP4. <edit> On a whim, I've just tried downloading a few 6D MkII RAW files from DPReview - AP handles them without any problems!
  3. Have you tried the Adobe DNG converter? It's very quick and the files are usually smaller.
  4. No problem - XnViewMP is displaying the embedded thumbnail, but it doesn't seem to access any data other than the thumbnail and whatever's held in the file header. When you edit the file in your chosen editor, XnViewMP just tells the OS to fire it up and passes the file name as a parameter - it has no involvement in actually editing the file.
  5. It was open source from day 1, and it works well. So what - I'm challenging the blanket statement that "open source is even better". Just because OSS works well in one sector doesn't mean it'll work across the board. No, it's an enabler, not a driver.
  6. You're not opening the .afphoto file, you're opening the embedded thumbnail.
  7. Sorry, you'll need to explain that - why is open source better. And better at what? Here's the thing - I don't think about computing as sports, I think about it as a business. Yes, competition's good, but open source is just another competitor - it's not "special", it's not "morally superior", it's just another way of getting things done.
  8. Serif's employees are identified as such - the answer to "Or are they?" is a simple no. The reason people seem to be siding with them is that their position makes sense! Whether or not something can be run under Linux, whether or not an application can be developed at some arbitrarily determined cost, and whether or not there's some sort of market for it doesn't matter - the people whose job it is to gather the data have gathered it, the people whose job it is to analyse the data have analysed it, and the people whose job it is to make business decisions have made them.
  9. So far as I know, there's complete backwards compatibility. I can't tell you about forwards compatibility, but I've never had any problems using files created by a beta release. It's worth noting the caveat that comes with the betas though - don't use them for anything important!
  10. Interesting! It's not something I've ever come across, but I can see how a compromised Installer Service would cause problems. But it's not an Affinity problem though
  11. Let me paraphrase that - "If it was commercially advantageous for Serif they'd make the conversion". 1/ Serif know this 2/ They're not making the conversion What does that tell you? As an aside, some might question the wisdom of being so dependent on a single customer.
  12. Make sure you have the right layer selected! Select the area you want to copy, <ctrl> c to copy it then <ctrl> v to paste it. Use the Move tool to select it and then move / rotate / resize it etc.
  13. I've never deliberately rebooted a PC in order to install software, I've had no problems, and I suspect most people would ignore the advice. Those who didn't would probably wonder why Affinity has this (so far as I know) unique restriction.
  14. You can try bringing the highlights down, but if they're burned out there's not much you can recover. If you post an example here people will have a better idea of how to help.
  15. I'd find this useful too! I need to present a lot of tabular data and the number of rows changes frequently.
  16. It makes sense to report them, but I don't think it's a condition of using the beta. There's a page here where you can select the right forum for your OS.
  17. While they're child layers you can select the adjustments, one at a time, by clicking on its layer icon. If you need to select two at a time you'll need to drag them out so that they're no longer child layers.
  18. I think they're free, too - I use Thunderbird and I've never seen an add-on that wasn't free, or any way of paying for one if it wasn't!
  19. The link in my answer gives you this:- And following that link gives this:-
  20. Once you've done the renaming / unpacking you'll have the .dic files - you can use these in any program that supports Hunspell dictionaries.
