I think a lot depends on what you were doing with the Plus software and how much you understood. If, like me, you started with the "fix everything" buttons and didn't do much more than a bit of cropping, AP is a whole new ball game! It's not hard though - you just have a lot of options. If you started as a power user then you already understand what you want to do, so it's just a case of looking it up if it's not already obvious.
A big difference is the replacement of paper manuals with video tutorials - It suits my "monkey see, monkey do" approach but it's not everyone's idea of a good thing.

How do I send you a screenshot
So far as I know there's no built in Screenshot feature in PS, so it's whatever you did before.

I would securely reformat the hard disk and just reinstall the OS before selling the PC
The keyword here is "securely" - reformatting on its own doesn't delete the data, so you'll need to overwrite it. Google "secure format" to find suitable software.

While using the program to resize the selected photo Affinity was uploading others in it's program.
I'm not a Mac user, but what did you see that indicated that Affinity was uploading anything? Affinity opens files ( a non-destructive action) but it doesn't upload anything, nor is anything uploaded to it.

Thank you for you email. I've cropped to 15 cm x 10 cm & exported it back into PS.
I've a feeling we're ignoring the elephant in the room - why do you need to crop in AP and then go back to PS?

Much as I hated it as a management style, I'd like to see a *JFDI option in Affinity products - if I want to close or exit something I'd like it to happen without being asked if that's really what I wanted to do. It's mainly a concern when e.g. files have been exported and AP treats that as a change and insists on confirmation that I don't want to save.
* In case you've never been subjected to it, JFDI = Don't question me, Just eFfing Do It.

Those are PhotoPlus videos, so the question is why didn't Serif include "Clear" in AP. My assumption would be that it's not needed - you can use flood select and delete.

Are you sure your crop was to absolute dimensions? 28.8x19.2 is the same ratio as 15x10.

I really don't like it how most of the words I type in English are showing up as being spelled wrong. They are spelled right but it still says they are not working.
Where are you typing them - in this forum or in one of the programs? If it's the latter, which one?
-
It depends - are you running on a Mac or Windows and, if it's Windows, where dId you buy it (programs bought via the Microsoft store must have their permissions changed before they can be used like this)?

Try this one. If you search for " Affinity photo panorama" in YouTube you'll find a number of tutorials.

I'm wondering how similar Affinity is to Serif 8 and if it's going to be a steep learning curve for me?
I think the main problem of starting photo editing is that you don't know what you're trying to achieve, so you don't know where to start. If you're already an experienced user of any photo editing program you've a good idea of what you're looking for, so it's just a question of knowing where to find it. AP's a bigger beast than PhotoPlus, and it looks like the UI has been designed to appeal mainly to PhotoShop users, but it's still (mostly
) consistent and sensible. This video by DrippyCat is a good one to get you started, as are his other videos.

You don't need to transfer anything - just install it on the new machine.

I tend to wait until I notice dust spots and then, knowing where they are, treat them on a case by case basis. If this is a regular problem for you you could try starting and finishing each shoot by stopping down to (say) f22 and taking a picture of the sky - any sensor issues should become very obvious.

The high CPU usage is similar to what I see when I load a file, and the processes are the same. I haven't seen any drop in performance though.

It must be a 'New Empty Mask Layer' not a Mask Layer.
Though if you've used a Mask Layer you can simply invert it.

Is there an OS option to select the delete brush when the pen's reversed? I've seen the same problem under Win 10.

I get the impression that some staff moderators don't like to see competing products being mentioned.
I've never seen that! Suggestions to use a competing product are commonplace whenever someone points out a shortcoming in an Affinity product - I've seen valid criticism / clarification and I've seen advice on how to use them (!), but nothing to support that impression.

I tried creating an image in AP and the default location was C:\Windows\System32 - it's defined as the default somewhere! The problem is that having exported to a different folder I can't get back to System32 - I've reset and rebooted, but it stubbornly refuses to use any location other than the last one! I'm grasping at straws here, but you could try resetting AP (hold <ctrl> key while it starts) or running it with admin privileges (right click on the icon and select more).

This is what I get when I open raw image.
The RAW and JPEG files I downloaded show the same difference - sorry, I should have spotted that! Using the DNG output from the Adobe converter is no better.

I recommend that you download and run the trial version of Affinity Photo before deciding whether to proceed with the purchase.
Agreed, but yes, AP can handle the files from the P20 PRO.

It looks like the highlights are completely blown out, so I can only think of two options - live with it, or cheat! You could try cloning some flames from another image and replacing the blown out areas - there's a useful video here.

Make sure you uninstall and delete the driver before reinstalling it.

Agreed - my definition of a "power user" would include knowing what it was called (along with all possible synonyms)
