  1. If you can't see a thumbnail of your RAW files in your OS' file manager you'll need to install a suitable codec. I assume Canon produce one, but I use the Fast Picture Viewer Codec Pack on Windows - I don't know what Mac users do. If the file manager can see the previews but File / Open can't, are you sure you've selected a suitable viewing option? If you're looking for recent files, AP doesn't display a thumbnail (but I really hope that's going to change!!!).
  2. I've got a GX80, which uses the same sensor as the G7, and that's fine.
  3. Nothing that I can see - the extra codec(s) just enable Windows Explorer to display RAW files as thumbnails (or icons as Windows calls them). AP then uses Explorer, regardless of whether it's the Affinity or MS store version.
  4. Can you post a link for that, please - I couldn't find anything on their web site.
  5. FSIV is probably displaying an embedded jpeg thumbnail. I can see thumbnails of E-M10 MkII files in Explorer - I use the FastPictureViewer codec pack, which seems to handle any RAW file I throw at it!
  6. You don't need to do that - open the .afphoto file and carry on where you left off. That's a function of the operating system, not AP.
  7. AP doesn't use sidecar files or a central store - edits are stored as part of an .afphoto file (File / Save As, or Save). Opening the RAW file just starts from scratch. There's a caveat though - there's currently no way of saving edits made to a RAW file before you Develop it.
  8. Have they ever worked? If so, what's changed? If you start and close one of the apps does the other one immediately have the problem or are they showing the same problem but independantly?
  9. I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but is there an alternative RAW engine for Windows users?
  10. It looks like that's the case - I see the same problem on my Win 10 system! You could try converting the RAF files to DNG with Adobe's converter.
  11. Which program are you asking about? Serif have been at pains to point out that Affinity Publisher isn't an upgrade from PagePlus, and a word search is already there.
  12. I did bridle at that, but now I'm horse from laughing so much! You can't beat a bit of humour!
  13. Chromakey (green / blue screen) isn't a feature of AP. That said, selecting objects against a contrasting background is easy - make sure the background is uniformly lit and the subjects aren't casting shadows on it. Chromakey would be easier, but you can't guarantee that someone won't be wearing clothing that suddenly becomes transparent (in the non-pervy sense!).
  14. I think the limit is 4GB, not 4K. But that limit is imposed by the FAT32 (and earlier) file system - it's not a feature of the application's file format. The maximum file sizes imposed by NTFS (Windows) and APFS (Mac) are so big they're not a practical limit.
  15. Take the picture with a long lens and a wide aperture. Having a large sensor helps, too. In AP you can selectively sharpen parts of the image and selectively blur others.
  16. I'm a Win 10 user - this might not be the case for Macs! AP uses the native file manager to select files and display the contents - you need to have selected a viewing mode that includes icons (just in case!) and the file manager needs to be able to display them. I use the Fast Picture Viewer Codec Pack to display RAW images - it's very reasonably priced, and I can display Sony a99II RAW images with no problems.
  17. I'm not sure if I've fully understood the question, but <ctrl>A selects everything.
  18. That depends on what platform you're on and where you bought the programs - Mac or Windows, and if it's the latter did you buy them from the Affinity Store or the Microsoft store? The Affinity store is here, you'll probably need your username and password.
  19. Unfortunately it's not that simple - there are a number of permission / ownership issues to be resolved as well. Fortunately, someone's worked out a quick fix.
  20. The first step creates an image layer - it's converted to a pixel layer at step 5. As you say, it's easier to simply rasterise it.
