  1. Hi John - you beat me to it! This was taken in Winchester Cathedral with my GX80, set to a 7 shot HDR bracket, focussing on the altar.Cathedral3.thumb.jpg.085ff54326630eb799042bbd84d8850f.jpg

Similar thing here, but I made a number of attempts to get the window properly exposed / focussed,  and completely failed!  Given the short fl I was using, the focussing should have been almost foolproof!   Post processing for both was to use a tone mapped HDR image and apply a bit of dodging to bring out some of the shadow detail.

I prefer the native CR2 file format that it produces, and am simply curious about the DNG format, and want to see how it functions.

    Again, Thanks.

I recently converted all my Pentax  DNG, Canon CR2 and Panasonic RW2 files to Pentax DNG - it saved quite a lot of disk space, but I didn't notice any other changes.  I'd be interested to hear if your results are different.

OK ... I've tried to find this answer to no specific avail ... If I choose to convert a few of my CR2 RAW images to the DNG format, will I then be able to open them into APHOTO and edit to my hearts content? I have been unable to find a straight answer to that question?

Straight answer - yes!  However (!) I'm assuming you're using Adobe's DNG converter - there may be other converters that don't produce a "real" DNG file.

As best I can tell in this case FastStone is working with a DNG 121 MB file.  Since each of the three files used in the merge was about 40 MB I believe it is the merged file.  But, I am not an expert in using these programs and haven't used FastStone in several years and don't recall much about using it at this point.  But when I look at the image in FastStone and look at the listed file properties DNG and 121 MB are what it says.  Thanks again for your help.

I've just had a look at some of my K-5 DNGs with Fastone - it's displaying / editing the embedded JPEG.  If you type <ctrl> R it displays the image / file size of the image it's using.   The properties of the DNG files themselves are also correctly displayed, but that's not the data that's being edited.

Also, if I have sharpened in Develop, do I sharpen again for print?

I like to be selective about what I sharpen (e.g. I like fluffy clouds and sharp trees) so rarely do any sharpening in Develop.  On the other hand, I find the shadows and highlights adjustment  in Develop does what I need, so I rarely use the Photo version.  As @GabrielM  said, it's down to personal preference.  It's worth reviewing them from time to time though - the way individual tools behave changes as AP evolves.

    Hi everyone,

I have not long managed to get a Huion GT220V2 Graphics Drawing Display Tablet/Monitor. I have gone to use Affinity Photo (on windows latest os, and affinity version 1.6.5.135). When I put the pen to the display affinity photo changes the tool instantly to the background eraser tool. I cannot use any tool with my pen and display as when I try it just change the tool back to the background eraser tool? Has anyone else had this? I have even tried the beta version and the same thing happens! Anyone got a fix?

    Thanks!

    Billie

I've had the same problem with a different Huion tablet.  I eventually fixed it while playing with the Windows Ink settings and deleting / reinstalling the tablet drivers.  Frustratingly, I've tried to replicate what I did but can't get back to the original problem!  The only thing I can think of that might help is to make sure that old drivers are deleted and don't hang around in memory  (they can be tenacious!).

The Windows store never took off

Is there any reason to think that Steam would do any better (for Serif)?  If I remember rightly, the people advocating that Affinity apps should be available via the MS Store were also using the one stop shop / simplified updates argument.  I genuinely don't know why those would be an issue unless people need to reinstall their OS frequently.
