myclay got a reaction from V Sudhanshu in How to create a shortcut to Affinity Photo 2 on desktop in Windows 10?
    @wasker
According to the official info, MSIX doesn't provide this as an option, but you can pin the apps to either the Start Menu or the Taskbar.
There is also the secret Shell:AppsFolder location in Explorer that allows you to right-click or drag the icon to your Desktop for a shortcut as a workaround if you need it.
To get to that Appsfolder location, you have to press Windows+R to open the Windows Run dialog. type the Shell:AppsFolder in, press enter and the folder is open.
search for the Affinity Program right click and then Create shortcut.

I like the place panel but I would like it to be persistent. If I drag 20 images and start placing them one by one (not autoflow), I cannot stop the process or switch to another tool to make a small adjustment, otherwise the place panel disappears and I loose track of what images have already been placed.
Making it persistent like any other panel would be very helpful when working with imported assets

myclay reacted to Granddaddy in Will Affinity forums remain free or will Canva charge a subscription fee? Answered: Will remain free
    Here's one example:
    https://www.on1.com/plus/forums/
    https://www.on1.com/products/plus/
Subscription is regularly $55/year, but on sale at a discount at the moment. That's equal to the full price I paid for ON1 Photo Raw 2024 last month on a special promotional offer. They had sucked me in at the end of January when they were giving away ON1 Photo Effects for free, a fact I was alerted to in these Affinity forums.
It was worth the money as I'm learning a lot about a whole different approach to editing, including AI functions. But community support seems poor.
They have some free community forums, but they are pretty empty of content and would give the impression that no one is using their products.
    https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/topics
When you participate in the free forums, your actual name gets posted with your question or comments. I told the company I thought this was a deterrent to using those free forums. I don't know how the paid forums work, but why would they be any different.

Which competitors charge anything for accessing their customer support forums or for viewing web-based tutorials?

That's very limited and false pov.
E.g. majority of the large VFX business runs on Linux platforms. There is also VFX Platform initiative to unify that.

    Hello Ash and Team,

thank you for keeping discussions open! that move sparks confidence. Massive kudos for that even if it gives v2 release flashbacks.
The multiple bought licenses where purchased only because of the perpetual licensing.

ps: It would be great if we could get offline activateable licenses for V2.

For me, bug fixes are the most critical part of the apps that should get the highest priority, particularly those that adversely affect the stability of the apps that can result in lost work.

I will wait and see what happens  but I  won't  hold out much hope  they will add features and content that will be subscription only that is what a subscription is all about
Canva will make changes  its their company now and they  call the shots
I  truly hope I am wrong but  I  saw as a member of the forum team at Xara  and had access to info that wasn't  public  that what went down with Xara and Magix  was not good   I  can easily  see the same thing happening  here
So to Ash,  Patrick and the rest of the Affinity team  I  truly would love for Canva to prove me wrong   let's hope they do

Affinity has a user base primarily because of perpetual licensing. Introduce subscription licensing and you lose much of that user base. Without a substantial user base the software becomes effectively worthless.

!00% agree.  A credible professional alternative to Adobe in this space seems to have committed suicide by linking with an amateur focused company.
