  1. If you bought a product or a service online or outside of a shop (by telephone, mail order, from a door-to-door salesperson), you also have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. Serif is following that rule or is it not? Edit; hint Serif does, it follows the rules. What is your returns policy? If you are not satisfied with your product for any reason, you may return it within a 14 day period after receipt of your product to receive a full refund. https://store.serif.com/en-gb/help/
  2. It is difficult to support a file format without specifications. other devs wanted to implement support for showing higher preview images. Just ask Serif developers what they think about the at best incomplete specifications from PSDs.
  3. unzipping is all neat at first until you want to use the studio link solution. (quickly pushing your file to APhoto<>Designer<>Publisher and of course trying to use the Personas of Publisher. Resources you downloaded in program x now need to be again downloaded for each program.
  4. Hello Walt, thanks for the information, as always you are really helpful. 👍
  5. Hi all, I experimented as bit and tired to get data from V2 into V1: you have to have both versions open. create an empty document in V1 first! paste your copied V2 data into V1. Is it good? simply nope. Some Data is going to be missing and you will suffer some crashes in V1. creating "New form Clipboard " simply crashes V1. one neat thing is, vector work changed with vector warp is getting the changes of the vector warp applied. v2 poster (Publisher) copy pasted into V1 of Designer. V2 Designer Document copy pasted into V1 document, it is apparent, that some folders where simply not copied over. You would then have to go layer/folder by layer/folder and copy paste those over and hope that the files are interpreted correctly when pasting into V2.

  9. I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 in 2015! original release was 2007. 8 years after its release... No (to me known) updates and the last support was changing the licence ownership. Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher V1 might be usable for a long time even after getting retired.
  10. thanks, it even has a sale going on Christmas is coming early here. https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio/lifetime-free-updates/
  11. It might have been back in the past but DDS can be also used within vulcan so its usage is more broad covering games and application development.
  12. @François R To see where Affinity Photo has been used I either look at the forum posts in "share your work" https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/10-share-your-work or within the spotlight site. https://affinityspotlight.com/articles/tag/game-art/ https://affinityspotlight.com/articles/tag/3d-artist/ more general categories; https://affinityspotlight.com/articles/category/behind-the-scenes/ https://affinityspotlight.com/articles/category/inspiration/ I think that unzipping will break communication between the programs (studio link functionality) and it will break the sharing of resources between the programs. so while it works for light one program only usage, the loss of the broader integration is not so fun. eh msix is as of now not good.
  13. not only that, many software-translators only can show one language per site. Using anything else than english on the net means you limit the pool of people which can help.
  14. Hello John, form the deepest of my heart; Thank you so much! 👍 There are now three different working ways for linking from Blender to AFPhotoV2 but your genius finding means that the linking between both programs is now truly update proof.* (*Each AFPhotoV2 update will change its Foldernaming path to the exe) Edit; 3Dcoat is way stricter, for it to work, the exe file from Mark Ingram is so far the only way. I must agree with anyone that Serif should abandon msix. It makes zero sense to sandbox a painting program, for webbrowsers it might be necessary but only gives a false sense of security.
  15. it very much looks like a regression since the implementation in V2 slows down the user and your finding should be made into a bugreport. 👍 https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/78-photo-bugs-2-found-on-windows/
  16. yeah this would be a costly mistake but no one wins because if its true that VeganPete (who would for the next part to kick in have to live in the EU) opted out of the mailing list, the less severe infringements of GDPR for the mailing-list violation is going to be a costly mistake for Serif which could get a fine up to €10 million, or 2% of the firm’s worldwide annual revenue from the preceding financial year, whichever amount is higher. https://gdpr.eu/fines/ After Brexit the fines are different as described in the UK GDPR; https://www.nibusinessinfo.co.uk/content/gdpr-penalties-and-fines a maximum fine of £17.5 million or 4 per cent of annual global turnover - whichever is greater - for infringement of any of the data protection principles or rights of individuals a maximum fine of £8.7 million or 2 per cent of annual global turnover - whichever is higher - for infringement of other provisions, such as administrative requirements of the legislation
  17. To add to m.vlads comment, DDS- DirectDraw Surface is a common and standard file format which massively can compress files. When compared to a texture with 32-bits per color, a block-compressed texture can be up to 75 percent smaller. Applications usually see a performance increase when using block compression because of the smaller memory footprint. There are different Versions of compression available with like BC1,BC2... - BC7. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/direct3d11/texture-block-compression-in-direct3d-11 The Layout information of how a DDS file should look like is freely available. Potential patent issues for the S3 Texture compression technology are waved and gone since 2018. Serif could implement it, here a layout guide for the fileformat; https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/direct3ddds/dx-graphics-dds-pguide
  18. Both versions will exist afterwards, V2 uses an entirely new installation system and location.
  19. Recommending Affinity Photo depends on your current needs and workflow and what types of works you currently do and intend to finish in the future. some points to be aware of; Compared to Photoshop CS6 you will instantly love the live preview of Layer Blend modes. Non destructive adjustment layers and live filter layers are amazing. you will hate that exported PSDs will have their text layers pixelated. There is no way of exporting files which keep the RGB levels and Alpha channel intact. (in the same file) Affinity Photo imo has an amazing compatibility and interpretation of PSDs.
  20. Yep @Matterdor I agree 100%, thats why I shared how I build my exe file so others could build it without any potential risks. <Moderated>
  21. Thanks for understanding the concerns, no ill intentions from my side. Works being done on a new web presence and duly noted that it needs to represent my newest creations.
  22. I just wanted to make sure that you (a fresh account with no name (yet) to it) are not trying to steal my and other peoples bank data.
