Apple adjusted all UK prices in their Mac App Store and because of that the UK price for Affinity Photo and Designer where then adjusted too. On the 20th of January customers and possible customers got informed that from the 1st February the price for the £ will go up. Why did it happen? It has to do with the devaluation of the £ pound and the planned geopolitical shifting of Britain or better known as the so called Brexit. Please note; I am not giving a political statement about this topic.

Hello Phil_rose, For PSD Thumbnail preview you could use other programs, I use fastpictureviewer but there are alternatives available. the + side is that you can then see what is inside your files every time and any time even inside the Affinity programs. ;) http://mysticcoder.net/MysticThumbs.aspx http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/ http://www.xnview.com/ http://www.cherubicsoft.com/en/projects/sagethumbs

Hello Affinity Team, it would be cool if Affinity Photo users where able to paint flow maps/vector maps inside of Affinity Photo. The brush for that would need to change its colour according to the direction its painted. http://graphicsrunner.blogspot.de/2010/08/water-using-flow-maps.html http://teckartist.com/?page_id=107 two examples how the resulting painted image would affect other images; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCYM_h3OEno https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbztUX_blDA

Hi all :) , first I wanted to excuse myself for being so silent the whole time. Hopefully during the next days, there will be the full *afphoto file(s) so you can start making normalmaps and heightmaps with the help of Affinity Photo. To sweeten the wait, the early and unoptimised version for normalmap painting inside of Affintiy Photo is now available for downloading. Many features like finer changes to the painted input via curves or turning vectorshapes to normal maps and turning normalmaps to heightmaps are not included in this early version. https://gum.co/PoPKm

Hello fmotta, Affinity Photo is separate from 3D Applications. the teaser image is just showing one of many workflows. Other workflows can of course easily be covered. UV maps you would have to make entirely in your 3D application or dedicated unwrapping program. many Users like to add a transparent wire image to easily find where the UV-islands are. Export the resulting image and open that UV map in Affinity Photo. If you get pre-made images on which you have to add details, simply load that texture into Affinity Photo and the normalmap solution which gets some more refinements could then be used. in this clip, I am simply working over a pre-made texture (hans sample file) and am adding details via vectors and the paint brush tool. the other previously shown stuff with vector shapes texts etc should also be possible for adding ontop. A belt would then be easy... To see it in a 3D application; either export your finished work from Affinity Photo or Enable "Save" over imported PSD files. the reloading option of your 3D Application is then loading the new file every time it is overwritten.

@retrograde Its totally fine, in fact its great to know how you are making usage of the Affintiy Product line and I am of course eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Affinity Workbook to finally be able to read it thru and to get a deeper understanding of Affinity Designer. @rintin Seamless Textures sounds cool, Will have to try that out soon. :D In general, it can only help to get more knowledge on how the workflow of other Artists is and what they expect. Today I tried to turn an Image to an heightmap but this process is trickier and the Macros are still limited so it will be for now a lot of manual work...

Hi all :) , So far Affinity Photo is impressive and quite useful for an 3D Artist. I decided to try my luck in making a heightmap/normalmap creation solution for it. It obviously needs some more work but it already gives passable enough results at least in the simple setup with Brush input vector support the more advanced setup: Shapes, Texts and Brush input are currently supported, inward/outward is available. there are two ways of adding shapes available; one which is piling them over each other and the other is mixing their height. You can therefore erase parts of brush work and shapes/Texts -vector data at the same time. Heightmaps are already useful but the Normalmaps in the more advanced Setup have a strong discoloration. next big steps are corrections and refining the output and creating macros for accelerating the workflow. greetings myclay

Hello Affinity team, to further customize Affinity Photo, it would be great if the users where able to create their own Studio panels and to populate it with functions from different Studio panels. for example; the user creates an empty custom studio panel where he add parts from the macro/library panel, one or two Styles and so on. greetings myclay

Hello Affintiy Team and all :) , I am currently trying to make an unofficial Normalmap painting solution inside of Affintiy Photo and wanted to customize the UI a bit and the question which occurred was; Is there a way to drag and drop parts from various studios like in my current need, the Profiles into a new custom Studio(and if possible a way to share/export that studio)? Ps: I already have found out that there is a customize toolbar and customize tools function so it might be that I just overlooked something? greetings myclay

Importing Mulit-Layer PSD Cannot be Parsed
myclay replied to local306's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on Windows threads
Since those PSD files are causing problems in more 2D/3D applications, the error(s) got forwarded to the toolbag developers. hopefully they can fix it. -
Importing Mulit-Layer PSD Cannot be Parsed
myclay replied to local306's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on Windows threads
tried that too with other exported PSD files, that missing signature error inside of Affinity Photo occurs as soon as you try to export the PSDs with the use of the option "Multi-Layer PSD" in the Bake options, it happens regardless if you export more than one Layer or multiple ones. Currently opening that PSD in Photoshop and resaving as PSD file, makes it readable for Affinity Photo. Would be nice if the file could be read without having to resort to Photoshop to make it readable for Affinity Photo. two files with each only having one layer, exported with "Multi-Layer PSD" activated other deactivated. nomultilayeroptionselected_normals.psd multilayeroptionselected_normals.psd -
Hello Affinity Team, could TGA(with Alpha channel support) please get added as an export option?
-
Hello Affinity Team :) , it seems that Affinity Photo is not able to load up the Alpha channel from TGA files. example file is available here; https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxhg8ewuo5vbvyx/alpha_channel32bit.tga?dl=0 greetings myclay

Hello nekto :) could you please try this out? 1. clean the Thumbnail Cache with the Disk cleanup. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/10797-thumbnail-cache-clear-reset.html test again if the image problem occurs 2. remove the microsoft visual C++ redistributable versions which where installed with AD. test again if the image and other program problems appear 2.1. remove all microsoft visual C++ redistributable versions and then install them again but in order(use microsoft update for that) test again if the image and other program problems appear 3. if those things didn´t help, try to do a repair install (some bought licences can survive that) http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2255099 hope it helps

@chien if you have a Intel cpu, it might be necessary to either disabling the intel apu(Intel HD Graphics) via the Bios or to go into the NVIDIA Control Panel and to assign the gpu to Affinity Designer (and all other programs which should use the GPU)

Cannot Import .abr Brushes
myclay replied to MaryLou's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on Windows threads
Have you tried to load them while being in the Pixel persona? The .abr issue feels almost the same like the one with the .afbrushes https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/21608-importing-ad-brushes/ -
Importing AD Brushes
myclay replied to ColicDusty's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on Windows threads
on my tests importing afbrushes worked even when they where made on a mac. the smoke brush appears to be from this thread here? (2014) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/3811-free-custom-smoke-brush/ my guess is, it was made with a fairly old version and thus it is incompatible. *Edit, it gives the same error but only when you are in the Vector Persona. so the .afbrush in the above link is importing when you are in the Pixel Persona. Edit2: painting with those Smoke Brushes is impossible thou. Edit3; the error which ColicDusty has, comes up even for the newer brushes. whenever you try to load up an .afbrush which is meant for either the pixel or vector persona and you are in the wrong persona mode, the error pops up. when you switch the persona to the right one, you can see that it got loaded up even after the error message. appeared. The warning that there was an error loading up the Brushes could have its purpose as an Assistant message like; this brush only works in the vector/pixel persona. when you switch the persona to the right one, you can see that it got loaded up even with the error message. -
Resetting the Panel/UI Layout; View->Studio->Reset Studio you would have to do that for the Vector Persona as for the Pixel Persona.

Hello Affinity Team sadly there is a high number of shortcuts which are not internationally compatible with the UK keyboard. It would be good if,for ease of learning, the shortcuts where chosen to be internationally compatible. UK-Keyboard German keyboard this is an ongoing keylist of incompatibilities with the german keyboard; Size bigger Ctrl+> <- only works with ctrl+shift+> Size Smaller Ctrl+< <- doesn´t work at all Size Precice Bigger <-only works with ctrl+alt+shift+> Size Precise Smaller <-doesnt work at all Spacing tighten More Ctrl+Alt+Left <- seems to move to the beginning of text Spacing Loosen More Ctrl+Alt+right <- seems to move to the end of text Alignment Align Left Ctrl+{ <-doesn´t work Alignment Align Centre Alt+|<- doesnt work Alignment Align Right Ctrl+} <- doesn´t work Alignment Justify Left ctrl+alt+| <-doesn´t work
