@MrArtist, agreeing with you, it's inconvenient not being able to add all Windows versions + the book into the basket at once. Might be due to the consecutive releases and not changing the website accordingly to the new situation of fresh customers. Serif had a couple discounts running, early when the programs where freshly released and it got extended when the prices changed in the apple store. They probably will do a discount again when the next program in the line is available.

MacOS users have luck, since 01. March the program RightFontApp works with Affinity Photo/Designer. https://www.facebook.com/RightFontApp/ Sadly I haven´t found such a convenient solution yet for Windows users. -
Since there isn´t an "AffinitySuite" there yet,(at least one program not released yet) its a bit strange to demand/wish to be able to pay for a "Suite bundle". ;) Adobe was very clear that if you didn´t buy any program or the Creative Suite from the CS2 version, you are not allowed and have no legal right to download or to use it. CS2 is clearly not "free genuine". The PSD file format significantly changed over a decade which passed till the release of CS2 in 2005 and you will have a lot of lost data when you try opening PSDs from CS6 and the CC versions in older Photoshop versions like Cs5.1 and older. The use cases for such old Adobe versions older than 5 years is quite limited.

I looked into adding all kinds of *.8bf files from Photoshop to test how obfuscated they are. You can pretty much only copy the Photoshop names over and if lucky start the plugin but it won´t change the images since Affinity Photo is internally vastly different. Right now to even open the Filter Gallery menu, the image would need to be 8Bit, you also would have to copy a couple dll files and more stuff over and throw them into a similar relative folder structure to even open those Filters... Edit; I don´t need nor use the filter gallery so I am quite surprised what you want to archive with it. :) It would imo help a lot for skilled artists and the developers to know the wished end result of what you are after to being able to build a tailored and quicker way of getting the wanted results.

looking further into CNCing, The Blender Cam addon is limited to 3 axes and you have to make sure it works with the CNC mill you are going to use. To my knowledge, Normal, AO and Specular are probably not useful for the CNC process. you would only want to use texture wise the heightmaps and the displacement modifier within Blender to turn images to real meshes.

Hello Karl, you could use the Height2Normals Xnormal photoshop plugin to turn images to normals inside of Affinity Photo but its a bit wonky. Where exactly in the CNC process do you need help? Without knowing further details, I would create SVG/EPS files probably in Affinity Designer and import them into Blender to make them ready for the milling process.

myclay replied to netsurfer912's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
count me in in the list of people which will for sure buy additional Linux equivalents of the windows versions which I already bought and use and somewhat started to even like. Sadly Microsoft has over the years shown the middle finger to its paying customers by shoving Ads into their various OSes. Areas Where Microsoft (Win7|8.0|8.1|10) has put Ads in; task bar, start menu, lock screen, in some pre installed Apps like the weather app. The newest area where Microsoft puts ADs in the OS is inside the File Explorer. Serif proclaims that the Affinity Product line is geared towards Professionals, right? If the Affinity Product Line is truly geared towards Professionals, could they please get that Product line on OSes which are not infested with ADs? Take your time, look how much ads Microsoft will add during the next 3 years into the current Win10 OS. The professionals which Serif is targeting as a customer base on Windows Systems have till 2020 when the support for the (currently) AD free OS Window 7 is ending. EDIT; Take your time also for investigating the potential market of a Linux version, re-evaluate it in a couple years. If Microsoft pursues its current anti customer way, the alternatives will be favourably looked on by more and more people.- 330 replies

Hello Lars, you might want to turn the html help files via wkhtmltopdf to a PDF version. bit of a warning ; its a command line tool... http://wkhtmltopdf.org/ -
Hello WillBellJr the normalmap files should also work within Designer. :) I too like to work with text and vector shapes and thus they where the first to work. just make sure to give the shapes a white colour and set Stroke to 'None'. those gradients are a difficult task, no idea yet how to archive that purely inside of Affinity Photo/Designer. Would be cool if there was any way to mae an auto import/export of the Bpainter layers to Affinity Photo.

Affinity Photo exports alphas as mentioned above but while exporting/saving the transparency, it sadly is affecting the RGB channels. You could also create a Mask Layer and save it with your PSDs but it is not recognised as an alpha channel. That behaviour can be undesired, if you want to have the RGB layers being unaffected by the Alpha channel, the workaround for now is to use third party solutions, like for example channel shuffle or channel scrambler.

https://vimeo.com/170633074 This tutorial about fixing panoramic distortions from the official Affinity Photo/Designer vimeo account will help. you would stay out of the live projection mode and use the Mesh Warp tool and change its setting from Destination to source, then you bend and correct self set sections/parts of the image with the given curves. the live projection mode is useful when you want to erase/replace traces of the tripod or in your case the arms or to add items to the images etc. https://vimeo.com/192631969 https://vimeo.com/192600018

Hello RC-R, to be more specific; I wasn´t able to make Affinity Photo export images with an alpha channel which simply stores the transparency without affecting the other three channels. There would be a need to save files out as premultiplied and straight alphas.

the above mentioned link/clip is explaining it well even for packing stuff in the alpha channel but it seems that exporting RGB-A images doesn´t seem to be possible currently with Affinity Photo. As an example; Exporting as PSD will result only in an RGB file.

How to add ALPHA CHANNEL
myclay replied to hl24a3's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
Hello ds24a3, while reading the other thread which you opened about the same topic, I now get what you want. That 'alpha1' functionality is unfortunately still missing in Affinity Photo. Since you posted in the tutorial section and others might have the same question; While the Affinity photo developers are still trying to add that functionality, simply use in the meantime the Channel Shuffle program which was written by Lukas Orsvärn. Channel Shuffle helps Affinity Photo/Designer Users in three ways; It gives you DDS and TGA support and you can also add images to the alpha channel. http://orsvarn.com/post/channel-shuffle/ hopefully it helps you in your further work. :) -

How to add ALPHA CHANNEL
myclay replied to hl24a3's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
Hello ds24a3, right click on your Sylvester Alpha and select create mask. save as png. other method; select what you whish to have in your alpha channel rightclick on your Pixel Selection, Create Spare channel, right click on your spare channel, load to Background Alpha. the usual problem with png files is, that even with 32bit dept, you won´t have the ability to retrieve the now transparent background. There is a solution for that apparently; Affinity Photo can save and open pngs with 64bit dept (16bit for each channel) For that above task; select under 'Color Format' 32bit HDR create the alpha channel use the Export preset 'PNG-24' save it out. import the file into Affinity Photo, right click on Background alpha, press 'Fill' and you have your background back. https://db.tt/gIflhyqk7q<- her is an example file for the above solution for making the transparent parts opaque again. -
Hello all, :) the 'NP-AP-full Version' is now freely available. https://gumroad.com/l/NP-AP additionally a recreated Bpainter* colour palette can now be used inside of Affinity Photo. *BPainter plugin was build by Andreas Esau.

Hello all :), the 'full' version of the normalmap/heightmap solution for Affinity Photo is now available. more information about the available functions is on the gumroad page; https://gum.co/NP-AP
-
here is a clip which shows the process of painting vector-/flowmaps inside Affinity Photo.
-
the embedded youtube link isn´t showing ;) BPainter seems to have some nice features and looks like a viable solution for handpainting. btw; there is a an edit externally option available inside Blender which makes a bridge possible to Affintiy Photo/Designer.
