DarkClown reacted to Chills in Canva
No, we don't. There are both Apple Final Cut Pro X and BMD Resolve that are the low cost, highly professional video edit tools. The only things that compete with them are the more expensive pro tools. There are a host of cheap amateur video editors out there, apart from the free Apple and Microsoft apps. We don't need more.
What would be good is an Affinity DAM. This is the missing piece of the jigsaw, a Lightroom+Bridge replacement.

OK, Ash, that' a fair statement! I still don't trust company promises - but it's all I can ask for for now.
I was pretty upset about the humiliating marketing bullshit you send out yesterday. Seeing that this merger ends up in a pretty sprawling marketing desaster, you either completely misjudged the close relationship you(Affinity) build up with your customers during the many years of development and the effect of selling the company to a faceless nobody with enough money. Of course cutomers feel betrayed. The father just told his children that "familiy" is over and they all get sold to an orphanage home. Promising them that they still will get fed. Great news.
Yes I'm still scared I might loose the product I spend hundrets and hundrets of hours on to report bugs and participate in plenty discussion on improvement and ideas.I'm scared the supportive community might disappear. I'm scared canva will not keep their promises. (I do remember as well you saying that Affinity will not be sold!) But seeing there's not much I can do about it I'll wait and see.
Either way it will be hard for canva to (re-)gain trust of the customers. This merger marketingwise coud have been prepared a lot better!
Cheers, Timo

The sky is falling!! The sky is falling!! The sky is falling!!
Oh wait. No, it's not. There is as yet no good reason to believe we are being forced into a subscription model for the Affinity apps, certainly not one good enough for all the hysteria this topic & others have generated.

DarkClown reacted to Alfred in Outline on transparent Object
The colour tells me that those are snapping candidates. Either turn Snapping off entirely, or change your settings.

DarkClown reacted to Old Bruce in Outline on transparent Object
In this case (the snapping candidates' magenta outline), I frequently hunt for the magenta outlines, can't see them and then eventually realize I have snapping turned off. This is followed by "Wait, what thing was I wanting to have snapped to which thing?" And then repeat because I still have the snapping off.

Appreciate your wise advice and wisdom and I'm thankful for the valuable time you wasted on his thread ... seeing you are talking to unsuspecting people that are using AP in daily work and taking part at technical discussions in this forum for over 7 years.

DarkClown got a reaction from joe_l in Export marks document as changed
I was wondering if there is any need for a document being marked as "changed" after exporting the document?
When I save my document, export afterwards and want to close it I get asked if I want to save the changes - what comes across as an unnecessary question since the export does not change anything in the before alredy saved document - but it just adds another user action to close the document. This may not seem important when working with a single document - but when processing plenty of files this can be seriously annoying.

DarkClown got a reaction from walt.farrell in SVG with Unique Objekt ID
Affinity exports all SVG files with an identical Image ID. Wordpress can't deal with that. To distinguish between different SVG it needs unique Image IDs. I'd like to have the different Icons accessible from within the media library for re-usability purpose and because e.g. elementors widgets (icon box) don't support direct linking - instead they point to the media library or their own Icon Libraries.

DarkClown got a reaction from j3rry in Macro parameters not saved?!
So just the usual marketing bs ... no surprise there ...
On the other hand we should not expect to much in this direction. I guess there's currently quite some pressure on serif. While other companies show significant new features (mainly in the area of AI integration) it feels like Affinity is stagnating. And despite some new and nice features in V2 it was more panting after industry standards. We are not talking innovations here. Hard times ...
