    Lovely Greetings from Berlin,

this editorial illustration is made in Affinity Designer on the  iPad.

»A friendly forest spirit with his avatar is looking for berry supplies in fall.«
This two characters will be seen soon in my second edition of the German book:
    https://www.rheinwerk-verlag.de/affinity-designer_4939/

This work consistently grow really big, but the document was all time stable on iPad.
I worked in both – Draw and Pixel Personas. I can not count the layers anymore!
I used lots of simple shapes to create the plants and went to the Pixel Persona
to create further details with simple brushes like pencils.
For my colouration I created a document palette with 9 main colours and HSL shades.
I just used 3 layer effects: blur and shine and shadow.
The lines of the character are from my sketch and later edited.
I used a lot of brush sets from FRANKENTOON and DAUB and my one customised brushes.

    Very lovely work, well done.
I have a feeling, that the car and sweet cat and chair needs something more –
like a street or sand or what ever you want. It looks a bit flying in nowhere.
    The shadows are very good.

    Very nice indeed!
Next level could be, that you work in the Pixel Persona with pixel brushes
on a copy for  more structures.

We've had a query about what is viewed as 'acceptable' content, and what our stance on it is.

This topic is one which is typically fairly volatile because everyone is so different and what is acceptable for one person, can be shocking or inflammatory to another. We don't want everyone to feel cautious about what they click, just in case they are faced with something they'd rather not see, but we also don't want to discourage people from sharing the amazing work they've been creating, so... We think the simplest, clearest thing to do is:

If you think your image could in any way be described as controversial...

    - Start a new topic with an appropriate title
    - Upload your image to a sharing site (Flickr, Behance, Instagram, etc) - you can even use the 'Share' link in the app's File menu
    - Write a proper description of your work in the body of your post and add a text link to the image you have shared

Now, if people think they'd be offended, they just don't have to click the link and they won't see it at all.

    Thanks,
    Matt

DAD reacted to prmg1986 in Spot UV Business Card Mock Up
    Hello!
It is still very difficult to use Affinity Photo for mockups. However, I think a basic solution is to prepare layouts that allow you to use the perspective tool with ease. Also, leave prepared layers that can be used as masks.
On this, I would like to share something that I am working on:

In this template, I just import the business card's PNG images and adjust it with the perspective tool on one layer (hidden below).
The thickness and background colors are changed by selecting the desired color from the palette.
I'm currently revamping this model to insert a localized varnish mask.
    See the result:

Seriously, this design took a long time to build, but to modify and use is super fast and easy.
I would like to hear from the community before proceeding to produce more Affinity Photo-specific mockups!
    Until then!

    GarryP,
    Firstily, thank's!
    Good question!
When I finish these mockups, including a basic user guide, I'll pass the download link to all Affinity Photo users.
    Until then!

So I continue to learn and discover the possibilities of AD. I am posting here an illustration for my future website. I used here the "Tattoo Art Brushes" for some effects of shadows and textures. The critics are welcome.

Looking through my old images, and decided this would be fun to play with using "selective color." Really gave the touch I wanted to the image by moving the background away and making the flower head stand out. Added a small amount of dodging and burning.

Hey guys! I'm quite new to affinity designer and this was the first typeface I designed on Affinity Designer on iPad. A month later I bought the desktop version too.
It's a free font and you can download it (or play with the preview tools)

Global colors can only be created in a document palette. Something else makes no sense, because global colors are referenced with objects within a document.
I would also be happy if the symbols panel were present in APup. But there must also be motivations to buy AD.

DAD reacted to MEB in Unable to figure out which brush I've used
    Hi DAD,
Yes, currently Affinity doesn't highlight the brush used but there's a way to work around it: to pick the previous (original) brush used to draw a stroke select an object on canvas that uses it then go to menu Edit ▸ Synchronize defaults from selection. The next stroke/line you draw will use the same brush as the one that was selected.

DAD got a reaction from Aammppaa in Brushes I have used are not understandeble
I got this question from Germany:

"What I have a lot of trouble with are the vector and pixel brushes.

Let's say I drew something using a brush, left the file for two weeks, and now I want to continue working on it or start a new drawing in the same look, that is, with the same brush. Then I'm somehow unable to figure out which brush I've actually used. In my brush panel, the one that I've used last, regardless of which file I use, is emphasized, which in any case leads to considerable confusion (unlike ai: I'll click the corresponding line in the document, and that for that one Line used brush is colored, so perfectly traceable even with multiple brushes in a document). No matter if I click on the curve in the layer panel or on the top of the context bar: I get into the menu to edit the brush, but nowhere stands, as the brush is called and from which category it comes.
    That's impossible?"

I didn´t recognize this problem, but it is true. I can´t understand after a long time, which brush was used.

It would be lovely if you can fix this

    Best Greetings

I miss the function 0.001 mm or 0.003 pt line setting for laser and mill-chut/mill.

In Affinity Designer 1.4.1. is just a line with 0,1 pt possible.

It would be great to have this function to use in svg and eps...
