how do i copy raw files ?do i select from camera?

I use IPhoto in Mac and all my pics are imported in JPEG even though I have taken them in Raw in my camera...how can I import them in Raw and can I do it through Affinity or an attachable application?

I am just starting on Affinity and never used any software on photos which tutorials should I watch?
