adi got a reaction from wigglepixel in [AD 1.7.0.367] Designer crashes on opening AI-file
confirmed that the files from gridcalculator.dk crash Affinity Designer.
I'm not sure the file will work for you even if it did import correctly - as the grid is constructed with guides and they are not imported into Affinity Designer.

The document can be set up in Designer though.
Start a new document and use your document size - Document Units: Pixels - Dimensions: 1076 px x 700 px - DPI: 96 - click OK
With the new document open go to the top Menu Bar and click - View - Guides Manager
On the Guides window - Under the Column Guides enter:
    Columns: 12   -    Style: Outline
    Rows: 1
    Gutter: 20 px
    Margins: Left: 20 px - Right: 20px
    press the close button.
Be sure to enable Snapping using the Magnet Icon.
    hope that helps

adi reacted to r.rumble in Additional Pantone Decks
I would like to request that the Fashion + Home Interior cotton and polyester color pallets be added to the list of colors available in Designer.  It seems that the only Pantone decks that are not currently available as the cotton+polyester Fashion + Home Interior.  Is that a possibility?  I know I can't be the only customer that prefers to design clothing in Affinity rather than Illustrator.

    Thanks.

Obviously if this change upsets Surface Pro users I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind if we had to disable the feature rather than Surface Pro users having enable it.

adi got a reaction from PaulAffinity in Drag and drop png from external source? Save custom tool settings?
The image from the IrfanView main program or it's Thumbnail Viewer can't be dragged onto the open active document but you can drag the image onto either the open file name or Layers Tab (the actual Layers tab - not the list of layers) and a new document will open.
or you could add Affinity as an external editor in IrfanView and then use the short cut listed in IrfanView to send the image to Affinity  > IrfanView - Options - Properties/Settings - Miscellaneous -  Set external editors - browse to Affinity Photo.exe.
I think this is an issue with IrfanView as Dragging and Dropping a file onto an open image works as expected when using - Windows File Explorer, Corel Connect, Adobe Bridge, Zoner Photo, P3dO Explore, Microsoft Photo Gallery etc.. even the now defunct Serif PhotoPlus organiser can ...

adi got a reaction from Mark Ingram in My RAW file opens edited/over exposed?
From the screen shot - Windows Photo has the 'Automatically enhance your photos' feature turned on, so the image appears overly processed, which makes a comparison slightly more difficult, as it's not how the default RAW image looks.

adi got a reaction from Alfred in Affinity Designer on Windows (1.5.0.4)
the google material color swatches (Material Palette.ase) can be downloaded from > material.google.com and loaded into Affinity Designer
    - select the swatches tab (upper right of affinity interface),
select the drop down menu (burger menu),
    select - import pallet,
select the Material Palette.ase from where you saved it to on your computer and Affinity will load the swatches.

All of the google material design elements from material.google.com can be loaded into Affinity (remember to download the Roboto font set and install them)
    - download the stickersheet assets that you want to use and use the open command to bring them into Affinty (file menu - open)
Warning!!!  - the google stickersheets assets require a lot of memory and take ages to open in Affinity (the original adobe files use between 100 to 700megabytes in Adobe Illustrator but Affinity needed 12gigabytes just to open the file ??

adi got a reaction from Arun Sarkar in Affinity Designer for Windows has launched!
    I don't think it's people complaining.
When the 'Plus' range was removed from active development an announcement was made that current Serif Customers would get a discount on the new Affinity Range, those customers are now asking if they will get the promised discount and if it's the same discount that is now being offered to everyone.
    Seems like a valid question.
I also find it a little sad that you've used the term 'people complaining', those 'people' are your customers and for some of them it's been almost 20 years of being your customers

adi got a reaction from Ken Cope in 1.5.0.17 - Typography - No 'Smart Quotes'
    Windows short cut for smart quotes: Alt + 0147 opening quote ( “ ) , Alt + 0148 closing quote ( ” )

The Adventurer Light font that I have doesn't have those characters so the Alt + Unicode fails

You could type two single curly quotes: which the font does contain, using Alt + 0145 opening quote ( ‘ ) , Alt + 0146 closing quote ( ’ )

Hi. they probably come under tablet hot keys or tablet Virtual Keyboard.
Tablets already have virtual keyboards so you can enter ctrl/shift etc... when using photoshop, affinity etc

I only know about MadLock as I found it while looking for Keyboard macro software as I use two keyboards (for typing and assigning hotkeys)

A couple of others i quite like are -
    quickbuttons - https://www.mjtnet.com/quickbuttons.htm
    Funky Bar - http://www.funkybunnies3d.com/tools.php#funkybar

There are also a few art specific add ons for AutoHotKey - like ArtDock for surface pro and Radial Menu - AutoHotKey is quite powerful but was more than i needed for own requirements

Hi. the Windows 10 Photos app automatically enhances images to make them look better on the screen. What you're seeing in Affinity is how the image actually looks.
You can turn off the automatic enhancements in the Photos app settings so that you see the original image.
