mr.burns got a reaction from Jawbones in UI too small
    Hi,

Don't get me wrong but I don't have a high resolution screen to reduce the resolution just for the lack of Affinity.
I really wonder that the developers did not catch this point on an earlier step of the development process.
Especially on Macs we have very high resolutions since several years now.
A big player on the imaging software market should know this and provide an professional way to give the users a comfortable way to scale up the UI elements as they need.
This topic appears already several times in different threads on this Affinity forum and hopefully there will be a solution soon!
Again, I really recommend to take a look at Blender. I did not find any other software right now which makes it so easy to scale any UI element just by one simple value!

    Hello,

I am brandnew to Affinity tools and downloaded Affinity Photo Trial yesterday. Up to now I am very impressed!
But I have a problem. I use it on an iMac (from 2011) with 27 inch screen and El Capitan.
The UI symbols, icons, bars, buttons, etc. appear very small on my high resolution screen. The only thing I found is to set the 'Font UI size' to large.
This makes it a littlebit better but all toolbar buttons, slider buttons, nodes of curves etc. appear very small so it is not very comfortable to see and to use.
One has to be very precise to reach a certain button / icon etc. if it is only 2 mm on screen!
Also the guides (the blue lines you drag out of the ruler) have a width of only 1 pixel and it is very difficult to see.

Also the subwindows like e.g. curve, levels, etc. appear realtively small (around 8 cm in width on my screen).
This is very small in width if I should judge the curve, histogram values or whatever, I prefer to have bigger analyzing windows because then I can see more details.

Is there any way to increase the size of all UI elements?

    Thanks a lot!

mr.burns got a reaction from IPv6 in Easy way to combine masks
    Hi,

I have two masks in my project. Each mask selects different parts of my image.
Now I want to combine them to a new mask (add operation).
Currently I only can do this by CTRL-selecting first mask and create a spare channel of it.
Then select the other mask, go to channels, right click the previously created spare channel and choose 'Add to pixel selection' and then click the 'Mask layer' icon.

These are many steps to just combine two masks.  :(

Why there is no way to just select multiple masks and by right click providing a feature to combine them as add/substract/exor?

Will this feature be added in the future?

    Thanks...

thanks this is exactly the experience I made. The background color influences the outline / stroke.

    Dear all,

I have some text in my document which is flipped horizontally and vertically.
If I want to edit the text on the screen it is very difficult since flipped text is not easy to read and Backspace and Del keys work in opposite direction on screen which is little wierd to follow.

My question is there any edit box I can use to edit the text written left to right as usual?

    Thanks...

    Hi,

I am very new to Affinity photo and have same problem with small UI buttons, slider handles, etc..
A very good example of how other software handle this problem is the well known 3D application Blender. (www.blender.org).
May one of the developers of Affinity can download Blender (it is OpenSource and available for Mac, Windows Linux) and take a look at their UI.
Under File->User preferences-->Tab System there is a edit box called DPI. If you increase ore decrease that value all UI elements will get bigger or smaller and you can get it as big as you want.
I think the UI is based on vectors which it makes it very easy to scale any UI element without loosing quality.

So this is just an proposal from me, may it helps the developers to see what others are doing and finally it can lead into a better UI for Affinity as well.

mr.burns reacted to versomat in [Multi] Scalable UI
I currently use a BenQ 4K monitor with a late 2013 Mac Pro. I finally gave in after waiting on Apple for a Display replacement. I run the BenQ at full 3840 x 2160 resolution, great for desk-space and photos but not so much for a User Interface that does not allow scaling. An example is Spotify, in the view menu it allows zoom+ zoom- for the actual UI.

As you can see in the attached full screen grab my Affinity Photo UI is tiny, and pretty hard to see, especially for those of us who need reading glasses.

So the new feature request is — Allow users to zoom in the UI, while keeping the monitor setting at full resolution.
