  1. Hi, I use the brush tool and want to limit the paint direction vertically and or horizontally but could not find how. I tried SHIFT, ALT, CMD but it does not work. In the SHIFT case a straight line gets drawn from the last point I released the mouse button. But this is not what I need. Is there any way to limit any painting tool horizontally / vertically? Is it possible to create a path with the pen tool and make a brush or any other tool follow this path? Thanks...
  2. Hi MEB, I could test it now and got it with your help! Thanks a lot!
  3. Hi, if I open a RAW image I am automatically inside the develop persona. Then I want to use the rotation tool to rotate my image. To align the image horizontally or vertically I wanted do drag a guide out of the rulers. But it seems not to work in the develop persona. :-( In the photo persona it works only if the move tool is activated and this seems to be the reason why it won't work in the develop persona because there is no move tool in the develop persona. Please make it possible that I can drag out a guide from the rulers independently from the currently active tool - Thanks! I know there is a tool inside the crop tool for aligning images, but it could be also very helpful to drag a guide into the image and do any rotation and compare to the guide. Thanks...
  4. Hi JimmyJack, thanks for reply, but the circle was just a simple example. What I need is really a tool that allows a gradient follow a path.
  5. Hi PixelPest, thanks for reply. But the gradient for outline is not what I expected. May I made it not clear enough but I want the gradient follow the circle and not just spread vertically. But I think the link you posted gives a little hope that the developer team will add some nice gradient functions in the future. Hopefully thay add some 'gradient on path' and 'outline gradient' feature ;-)
  6. Hi, I try to get familiar with the gradient tool inside Affinity designer and have two questions: 1. Is there any possibility to have a gradients on a curved path and not only on a straight line? 2. Is there any possibility to have gradients for outlines? Thanks...
  7. Hi, Don't get me wrong but I don't have a high resolution screen to reduce the resolution just for the lack of Affinity. I really wonder that the developers did not catch this point on an earlier step of the development process. Especially on Macs we have very high resolutions since several years now. A big player on the imaging software market should know this and provide an professional way to give the users a comfortable way to scale up the UI elements as they need. This topic appears already several times in different threads on this Affinity forum and hopefully there will be a solution soon! Again, I really recommend to take a look at Blender. I did not find any other software right now which makes it so easy to scale any UI element just by one simple value!
  8. Hi, I am quite new to Affinity photo. On the top of the Develop persona there are these buttons: I found some short information in one of the tutorial videos, but unfortunately it was not that helpful. Can someone please explain more detailed what is the use of these button? Thanks...
  9. Hi, currently I am learning all about Affinity Photo using the provided video tutorials. But I have a problem with following video: https://vimeo.com/143014223 The video does not move on at around 9:37. The movie stops but the moderator is talking further. I use latest version of Chrome browser and tested FireFox as well, but same problem. Does someone else face this problem?
  10. Hi, I am very new to Affinity photo and try to learn some important short cuts. I use Affinity photo on my iMac with El Capitan. I saw in a video that the squared brackets are used to increase/decrease the size of any brush. On a German keyboard these brackets reside on the key 8 and key 9 and are only accessable together with the shift key. At the location where the squared brackets are on an english keyboard on a german keyboard there is the 'ü' and the '+'. But if I hit either 'ü' or '+' the brush size does not change at all, I just got a dump sound. So how to I increase/decrease brush size on a german keyboard? Is there any mapping of shortcuts between english and german keyboard available? Thanks!
  11. Hi, I am very new to Affinity photo and have same problem with small UI buttons, slider handles, etc.. A very good example of how other software handle this problem is the well known 3D application Blender. (www.blender.org). May one of the developers of Affinity can download Blender (it is OpenSource and available for Mac, Windows Linux) and take a look at their UI. Under File->User preferences-->Tab System there is a edit box called DPI. If you increase ore decrease that value all UI elements will get bigger or smaller and you can get it as big as you want. I think the UI is based on vectors which it makes it very easy to scale any UI element without loosing quality. So this is just an proposal from me, may it helps the developers to see what others are doing and finally it can lead into a better UI for Affinity as well.
  12. Hello, I am brandnew to Affinity tools and downloaded Affinity Photo Trial yesterday. Up to now I am very impressed! But I have a problem. I use it on an iMac (from 2011) with 27 inch screen and El Capitan. The UI symbols, icons, bars, buttons, etc. appear very small on my high resolution screen. The only thing I found is to set the 'Font UI size' to large. This makes it a littlebit better but all toolbar buttons, slider buttons, nodes of curves etc. appear very small so it is not very comfortable to see and to use. One has to be very precise to reach a certain button / icon etc. if it is only 2 mm on screen! Also the guides (the blue lines you drag out of the ruler) have a width of only 1 pixel and it is very difficult to see. Also the subwindows like e.g. curve, levels, etc. appear realtively small (around 8 cm in width on my screen). This is very small in width if I should judge the curve, histogram values or whatever, I prefer to have bigger analyzing windows because then I can see more details. Is there any way to increase the size of all UI elements? Thanks a lot!
