Sorry it took so long for this reply and I imagine considering the recent V2 launch this not being priority at all, but, unfortunately - I can't find said files anymore. They were just working files after all. I probably deleted them when I was done. - Reproducing the files would be quite involved. I'll keep the issue in mind, though, and if I encounter it in the future, I can provide you with files, possibly V2 files by then.

I completely agree with that. While I don't know how they could have implemented the "Universal license" otherwise (they could have gone for platform based bundles, however!), I do think it's much better when you can reinstall the software whenever you like just by yourself and not being dependant. And I'm saying this using macOS and iPad; I can, for example, still reinstall a previous V1 version of Designer or Photo on my iPad. With V2, I now depend on Serif having said option on the App Store and / or running on their servers, since the downloaded software itself is only good for a trial period. So you don't really "own" the product, but just the installations. Of course, not to be confused with being completely dependant due to a subscription, but still. Does leave a bad taste. Hopefully! About 40% increased startup time on 2015 MBP: V1: 5sec, V2: 7sec. Not sure it's the OS, though. Running V1 on High Sierra, V2 on Monterey. On iPad mini 5, V1 and V2 are quite similar.

@walt.farrell Yes, I noticed this, but I rarely have any files in there, since I close them all when I'm done. So I'd basically have to have a dummy file in there just to prevent Affinity from throwing some random images at me - which kind of feels like being bombarded with ads and (besides being distracting) makes the software feel somewhat cheap.

I don't dislike the UI in general, but there are two things I'd rather see differently: - Layer's states are shown as dots now, which is much more difficult to read than the previous checkboxes. - Some text is quite difficult to read (e.g. export persona's export settings on iPad) due to a lack of contrast between font color and background.

Hey everyone! I find it distracting when opening one of the apps on iPad and it opens to the example section. I'd rather let it show the current file section, which it only does when there is at least one file there. Personally, I am clearing files all the time and restart apps all the time as well, in order to make things more straight forward when dealing with iOS's multi tasking. So I am frequently opening the apps to the distracting samples. Best wishes, Shu

Hey everyone! Still not possible using V2. Since suggestions for V1 are now considered "Archive", I am posting this one here again. Here is the original topic:

Hey everyone! Congratulations on the release of V2! - Quite pleased to see V2. - Quite pleased to see no subscription. - Not so pleased to see no High Sierra support (but understandable to some point). - Not so pleased to see no V1 file compatibility (not understandable). Please include a simple 1.X importer and exporter. You already have that for 1.X. You should (?) be able to integrate it with V2 in a quite straight forward way, unless you went crazy on the most basic systems you have. I know I can import and export to .psd, but that will leave behind everything that's Affinity. I'd like to only leave everything behind that's Affinity V2 in the process when transferring between V2 and V1. On some hardware, I still require High Sierra for some stuff. I could update my iPad versions (and get Publisher that doesn't exist as version 1), but without being able to port the files between V1 and V2, that's going to be a headache. Please be aware that by not including this, you're going to split up your user base. To which degree, of course, I don't know. But it will happen. Some people - will still require to or want to work with older OSs you don't support, - won't be able to or won't want to invest the money to upgrade the entire suite, especially with the prices increased and the 40% off period being over, - won't want to even upgrade one software when this means breaking links between, for example, V2 Photo and V1 Designer as well as V2 Photo and V1 Publisher, - are completely satisfied with V1 already and don't see a point in updating to V2, - don't like or have trouble using the new UI, - just decide updating isn't worth it (yet), because the new features aren't (yet) worth the cost for updating, - face bugs in V2 that weren't there in V1. User base fragmentation means - fewer bug reports, resulting in less reliable software, - a number of people having issues with your software, because they need to exchange files with someone from the other group (V1 VS V2) making your software, at best, bothersome to use or, depending on the situation, completely unusable or just not efficient enough to accomplish the required results, - people being frustrated, because of going V2 with a trial or buying one of the softwares, saving a bunch of files, and not being able to go back (that's huge!), - some users will trust your software less, since a new version created such a messy situation. I think a simple Exporter and Importer for V1 files could very well be worth the effort. Now personally, I am going to buy the entire V2 suite anyway, because V1 did serve me quite well (started using Designer before 1.0, it's almost been a decade now) and for a reasonable price as well and I will probably have to update eventually, in a few years. But still. Would be great to go back and forth between V2 on iPad and V1 on desktop. I searched for "v1" and the search stated there were 0 results. Best wishes, Shu

1. I'm not talking about layer opacity, but color opacity within the Color window (see topic title). 2. I do have focus on the input field and I am getting "50%" auto complete when just typing "5" and hitting enter confirms just that.

@GarryP With the difference of trying to use Color Overlay rather than a shadow and the very subtle differences of creating the global color from the Swatches menu rather than by right clicking and applying the FX from the Effects menu rather than from Layers, I'm doing exactly that! Maybe it's fixed already.

Yes, it's cmd+V for pasting and cmd+[ for moving the layer. However, the latter just doesn't work. Not sure it's an OS issue or Affinity. I don't require that shortcut in any other software to test that. I guess I'll just remap that function and be done with it!

@Old Bruce Thanks for the suggestion! I was indeed selecting the color from the Swatches menu, since I had that open. However, even when selecting the global color from the popup window, I am able to set the color, but it's not linked as a global color. When changing the global color, the color used by the FX doesn't change.

@GarryP I see! Thanks for pointing out! @carl123 Thanks for the info! I see the shortcut within the menues, next to the command "Move Back One", however, it doesn't work. Not sure why. Select -> Select Next and Select -> Select Previous do work and they use the same key, just with an additional alt.

@GarryP Thanks for the reply! I guess I wasn't describing the issue precisely enough: I am selecting the layers themselves (from the layers menu), not the visible objects.

Just an update on this, since I only was on iOS: This doesn't seem to work. From the system settings, I set the decimal to ".", but Designer still only lets me type "," and completely ignores "." for input. EDIT: It does work when setting the whole system language to "English (UK)". Well, I guess I'll just have to keep typing ",", since changing system language may very well have some negative side effects in some of the software I'm using. Not to mention Apple scripts that I coded in reference to the German UI.

@GarryP Thanks for the reply! It may be fixed in a more current version. Not sure. But that's what I do (maybe this is more precise): 1. Create a document palette. 2. Create a global color. 3. Select a rectangle. 4. Select "Colour Overlay" from the Effects menu. 5. Select "Colour". 6. Select the global color from Swatches 7. This doesn't result in the global color being used by the "Colour Overlay" Effect, but a window shows up that lets me edit the global colour instead.

@GarryP Thanks! I see! That does result in exactly what I'm trying to do. However, practically speaking, that's still even more tedious than rearranging the layers, since I always have to press that button each time before pasting. If the setting would stick the way it's selected, that' be great!

@GarryP Thanks for the reply! I just tried that, but unfortunately, to no avail. I already had Edit all Layers enabled. I tried with that disabled. Didn't work either, though.

Thanks for your replies! @Callum No. The transparency value is still selected. I can only tab between H S L (or RGB, etc.) that are connected. @Old Bruce Exactly that. I need to select anything else just to deselect that field. Strangely enough, when I set H S or L, pressing Return (Enter) will already result in the field being deselected.

@Old Bruce That's not too bad! I was looking for it on iPhone, also within Account Settings (or similar) and I didn't find Signature anywhere. Being on macOS right now, I can see it! Thanks for pointing out! @walt.farrell Well, the way I see it: If there's no alpha, why take the color's alpha into account when calculating the color's preview? So the preview's color somehow takes alpha into account, but it's not saved within that color anyway. From my perspective, that doesn't make sense at all. So I think it either should - support transparency or - show a color that only takes the RGB channels into account.

@Old Bruce Not quite, I don't get the previous opacity back when undoing. The slider stays at 100% and the shape itself shows 100% as well.
