  1. Hello everyone!

Does anybody know when exactly continous export (which can be accessed in the Export Persona) writes data?

Does it save each time I change the document (and an entry gets created in the History)? Does it overwrite each time the application loses focus?

As I am using an SSD, I don't really want to overwrite a file each time I am doing some small changes, resulting in hundreds or thousands of writing processes in a short period of time.

If it depends on the OS: I'm using a Mac running OSX 11.6.

Best wishes and thanks for any help!

    Shu

  2. Hello everyone!

Does anyone know if there is a way in Photo to stamp alpha values?

While RGB values will overwhrite A, A does not get picked up by the stamp or it will simply not overwrite RGB.

Here are two images to illustrate what I am talking about:

Image1, showing where I pick up colors:

    Image1.thumb.PNG.adc720d0935bcd041641561c4fedb74d.PNG

Image2, showing where I want to stamp:

    Image2.thumb.PNG.a0eb1c3e5b99f45381ca337ba06a7274.PNG

In Image2, parts of the green should be overwritten by alpha ("erased").

If this is currently not supported, could anybody move this to feature requests?

    Thank you for any help!

    Best wishes,

    Shu

  3. Hello everyone!

I'd like to request a feature:

When selecting View -> Toggle UI, all of the UI will be hidden, which can be really great.

The only problem that I am running into sometimes:

I don't know which tool I have currently selected.

Could you please include an option to let the user show the tools window even when "Toogle UI" hides all the other UI?

Or maybe even better: Just show the one icon of the tool that is currently selected.

The confusion especially happens when you have to cycle through tools. For example, for the "Pixel tool", you have to press B twice for "Colour Replacement Brush Tool" three times and for "Smudge Brush Tool" four times.

Personally, I run into this especially when I don't know which tool is currently selected. For example, the eraser (E) is selected, but I think the brush (B) is selected. Then, I press E to select the eraser. Then it doesn't select the eraser, but rather the background eraser.

    Best wishes,

    Shu

  4. Hello everyone!

I'd like to request a feature:

Pressing a shortcut to select a tool shouldn't select the standard tool for that key, but rather the tool that has been used last for that key.

    For example:

    When using the

"Inpainting Brush Tool", after clicking B for the "Paint Brush Tool", clicking J will not select "Inpainting Brush Tool" again, but rather the "Healing Brush Tool".

This means, I have to cycle through all the tools to jump back and forth from "Inpainting Brush Tool" and "Paint Brush Tool".

I think the behaviour could be optimized when Photo and Designer use the last tool that has been selected when pressing a shortcut. It would allow a faster workflow.

    Best wishes,

    Shu

  5. Hello everyone!

I would like to request a feature that doesn't seem to be included in Affinity Photo.

In Photoshop, you can use an additional key (I think it's alt) to move the opposing crop border as well as the one you're moving with the cursor. This way, symmetryical cropping can be achieved.

Can you inclide this feature in a future release?

Or is this already included and I just don't know how to use it?

On a Mac, cmd would probably make sense since the "Move Tool" already includes that behaviour (mirroring border movement) when using cmd.

    Best wishes,

    Shu

    2. On Windows…

    Ctrl + Alt + [

    Ctrl + Alt + ]

I guess Mac uses Option key instead?

Check Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts > Draw > Select > Select Next / Previous.

Alt and Option (⌥) on a Mac are one and the same, but the Mac Ctrl key is different from the Windows one. The Mac equivalent to the Windows Ctrl key is the Cmd (⌘) key.

Unfortunately, when clicking cmd+alt+5 and cmd+alt+6, Photo will actually move the currently selected layer to the one above or below.

But I'd like to select the layer above or below and not move any layers at all.

    For #1:

On a Mac, ctrl + shift + tab allows you to cycle backwards through your open document tabs. (Without shift, it cycles forward). In Separated mode it doesn't seem to do anything.

Yes, it does work to some extent. But only sometimes. Sometimes it will just do nothing or react slowly (about .5 seconds after clicking the shortcut). Maybe this has something to do with Photo 1.5's general slowdown.

    EDIT:

It does work faster and more reliably when the UI is hidden (tab).

  7. Hello everyone!

I've got some questions about shortcuts in Affinity Photo and Designer:

    1.:

I read that ctrl + shift + tab is supposed to let me jump to the next file. But for whatever reason, this only works sometimes.

Is there a different way to jump to the next / previous file?

Could I be doing something wrong?

    2.:

Is there a way to select the layer above / below the currently selected one?

I am working on OSX 11.6 using Designer 1.5.1 and Photo 1.5.1.

    Thanks for any help!

  8. Could you please include an option in the snapping settings to disable displaying the snapping candidates?

When pressing alt, they shouldn't be shown because they can't be used at that point anyway.

Besides, it would be a great shortcut for taking a look at the image without snapping candidate highlighting.

Also, sometimes mouseover for adding to snapping candidates doesn't seem to work when objects are on layers. Then, I have to actually double click to select an item to add it to the snapping candidates. Am I doing something wrong or is this behaviour to be expected?

    Best wishes,

    Shu

  9. I haven't read all of this topic, but I hope if you are going to include a brighter UI, it will be optional?

Personally, I don't know any software that uses such well chosen color values in its UI.

I really appreaciate the dark style and I couldn't imagine working with a bright UI as it shifts the focus away from the image you're working on. Also, bright UI is horrible for working in a surrounding which isn't lit too bright.
