Walt  - This is not ideal as I may not always use the keyboard to save and click on the menu but appreciate the workaround.

Honestly, I'd much rather Serif focus on fixing the many new and long-standing bugs in 2.2 before adding anymore features. Having a shiny new blend tool {or insert your feature request here} which will probably add new bugs, while still having to deal with countless existing bugs and workarounds doesn't exactly fill me with anticipation. As it is I keep seeing comments around social media, the forums, and the web on how folks are getting increasingly frustrated with the bugginess of the Affinity suite. You really don't want "buggy" to be the first thing that comes to mind when somebody mentions Affinity.
Serif please focus on getting the next few upcoming 2.x releases into a stable suite of apps that new and existing users can rely on for years to come.

@Sam Neil I've managed to reproduce the issue using the image you provided via Dropbox. It seems to relate to the images EXIF data. I've logged it with our developers to look in to and see if a fix can be applied. For the moment the workaround is to not use File > Save but Export out to a new file instead.

    Hi All,
We have just made 2.2 live across all App Stores and our website. As always, the feedback we have received from you all during this beta has been an incredible help in both shaping the new features as well as squashing many bugs!
The build we have released is the same as RC3 (build 2005), meaning for the time being whether you use the latest beta version or switch to using the release version they are the same. If you anticipate taking part in the next beta you may wish to keep your current beta version installed, as this will be updated on auto update when a new beta is available. This will either be a 2.2 patch if we feel one is needed, or moving straight onto a 2.3 beta.
It would be impossible for us to do what we do without your support, and I just wanted to say a huge thanks for everything you have contributed to this release.
    All the best,
    Ash

Sam Neil got a reaction from Alfred in Farsi Fonts displayed Incorrectly
Yes Alfred but the issue seems to be with certain fonts and in particular the letter R which I have circled in the screenshot. Microsoft Publisher or indeed Parsinegar has no issues with any Farsi/Arabic font which makes it very odd. I understand that Affinity Text Engine does not support this - however it makes it very hard to use any fonts as it becomes a gamble and I have had to play all sorts of tricks to finish my projects.

Would I be correct in assuming that this is pasted text, copied from ParsiNegar?

Nor would I expect it to as the source pdf files are incorrectly 'formatted'...
I'm unsure what your relationship is with the creator/generator of the pdf files but personally I would treat them in the same way I'd treat corrupt files, as in, I would ask for the files to be correctly formatted and resent so you can use them as intended...
If you were to send the pdf file to a print house they would be rejected, this is no different, personally I would reject them.
If, for whatever, reason that isn't an option then you have two choices both of which involve manually correcting the files so you can use them for their intended purpose...
    Option 1
Use software capable of accessing the pdf box information and then manually correct the Art Box, Bleed Box and Trim Box dimensions for every file and re-epxort...
    Option 2
Place each pdf file onto a new page in a Publisher document, change the default 'Pagebox: Trim Box' to 'Pagebox: Crop Box (or Media Box)' on the context toolbar for each placed pdf on each page and then export your document to jpeg which will give you individual, useable jpg files...
Either way, both options involve work and if you have a lot of images will take time to correct but at least you have the choice... request new files or manually correct the files you've been provided with...

In general, I'm not really sure what the fallback position would be in an instance like this bearing in mind the differing rules based on the pdf format, though I guess the Media Box would be teh logical choice... though in your PDF 1.7 file, because there is a Crop Box, the Artbox is supposed to extend beyond its boundaries which it doesn't.
    Quote
Each page in a PDF can have different sizes for the various page boxes. The page boxes are always rectangular. That may seem logical but artwork is not always rectangular: a PDF can represent an oval label or the foldout of a cardboard box. A PDF always has a MediaBox definition. All the other page boxes do not necessarily have to be present in regular PDF files. The above rule is not true for the PDF/X file formats: PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-3 compliant files need to include the MediaBox, TrimBox, and BleedBox. PDF/X-4 files need, next to the MediaBox, a TrimBox or an ArtBox, but not both. The ArtBox or TrimBox cannot be larger than the BleedBox. If a CropBox is present, the ArtBox,  TrimBox, and BleedBox need to extend beyond its boundaries. The MediaBox is the largest page box in a PDF. The other page boxes can equal the size of the MediaBox but they are not expected to be larger (The latter is explicitly required in the PDF/X-4 requirements). If they are larger, the PDF viewer will use the values of the MediaBox. As the files have been created incorrectly my first instinct would be to go back to the place where they were generated and ask them to provide a correct set of pdf files, you should need to be messing about with these. I'm unsure what you plan to do with the files but as you've likely seen, opening the files just gives you a series of rectangular image layers, again likely not what you want either...
You can certainly place the files into a Publisher document however as others have mentioned and change the Pagebox setting to either Media Box or Crop Box.

    Hi @Sam Neil,
The issue is a result of a messed up pdf file that has non corresponding Media Box, Crop Box and Art Box sizing.
On opening the pdf in the Affinity apps, the Art Box size is used, for this particular pdf file the Art Box size is shown as 53.038 mm x 60.072 mm which matches the Document Size in the Affinity Apps...

@Sam Neil, Thank you for this tip. I downloaded and tried pasting into my V1 Publisher and it works. No need to use glyphs to individually enter for my preschool level learning of Farsi. Farsi language uses the Arabic alphabets and RTL writing system.

You are talking absolutely rubbish!!! - This is a major version!!!! - A free update is normally within two weeks of a launch of the new MAJOR version NOT a year after! As Patrick says, they got eat! If you had bought your copy two weeks ago I can understand but not a year ago! Clearly you are not a regular user and are here for a "Freebie". A lot of effort has gone into the software, and this is not "Shareware!

I guess they got some good sales?
Fair play to them - I wish V2 all the success they deserve for offering a fairer alternative to Adobe
But if I take the plunge with the suite then I want something for my money (other than basically the same software with a few minor new features and probably some new bugs to iron out)
Happy using V1 for now but going forward I would like to support them and move over to V2 eventually - it's just a little too steep for me right now and so soon after buying V1

This is one my side projects for 2022. I run a FaceBook group on the BOAC Speedbird aircraft and "The BOAC Speedbird Adverts" book which contains 133 rare adverts (B&W and colour) from 1940-1970. The adverts were cleaned up using Affinity Photo and the cover was put together with Affinity Designer and of course the book was put together using the Affinity Publisher.
