Sam Neil got a reaction from Foucault in Affinity for Professionals - what is needed
I am sorry but Serif has been rather pathatic on the communication front and rather than coming up with childish memes - communicate with the users - Without them they have nothing. It is not politics - It is basics rules of any company!
Very disappointed with Ash & his team - to have such a promising product and yet so bad at communicating and worst of all the silent treatments.
I would not be surprised if Canva wrap up Serif operations soon...

Sam Neil got a reaction from HCl in Making the switch from Adobe to Affinity
When I started to use computers, they were using Serif PagePlus and I have never used Adobe in my computer life (Ever for PDF I use NitroPDF) So natually I migrated to Affinity and despite some serious options missing I love these trio and they are damn easy to use.
The mail merge option is APUB is a dream as an example - The issue with Affinity is their lack of transparency and communiction and an unclear roadmap - The darling of creative software has now become an unloved child that seems to not matter a bit for its new parent.

They are grouped
At 15 seconds you click on the "group" and only one item is selected
I think you expected both items to be selected as they are in a group
This is probably due to the Autio-Select option being set to objects not groups
Note: There is a bug (in certain circumstances) where the Auto-Select option may say Default (which should be the group) but it is actually selecting objects

If I have grouped two or more objects and copied them - when I paste them They should remain grouped until I ungroup them. Simple as that!

Affinity Photo (APh or AP) doesn’t have pages, so you must mean Affinity Publisher (APub or APu). Hover over the underlined abbreviation in a desktop browser to display a tooltip that tells you what the forum software understands by the abbreviation you’ve chosen.

If I copy a group in a 2.6 document and paste it into a 2.5.7 document (opened in 2.5.7) the items are pasted ungrouped
Are you pasting between "The trio of applications" and are they all upgraded to 2.6?

Maybe you are right - I have been doing it wrong. I think I need to make a video. Will post one as soon as I get a chance

As Garry observed:
So either there was no group to select in the source document or (more likely) there was a group but only the layers within that group were selected for copying, and we’re seeing what was pasted.

Well Said Alfred - My bad I should have said layers - Yes I group two or more layers and paste them in another page and they are no longer grouped. Is there anyway to maintain this status with layers?

The screenshot shows us that there is no group in the document. The OP has simply made a multiple selection comprising two separate layers.

Sam Neil got a reaction from GRAFKOM in Canva Create 2025
This was my point - Because it was not thought out correctly with a global audience - It is too late for version 2 or indeed version 3. What is important is the lack of transparency and interest from Serif and putting the head in the sand. Ash & his team have really gone the wrong away about Affinity and simply don't have the man power or expertise to continute. Canva will regret their purchase as it does not even fit their portfolio - They cater for a "fast food" style of clients who don't give a s--t how it is done but it is done. I work for a printing compnay and 60% of our customers use canva and don't even have a clue about basic things such as bleed and crop marks!
As mentioned here do not be surprised if Canva off load Affinity soon....
As @grafkom has mentioned 1500 view and as usual the "Silent" policy rules....

It would be good if Serif would consider doing something like:
https://www.qrcode-monkey.com/
which offers TOTAL customisation

Sam Neil reacted to GarryP in Text Frame Issues
Unfortunately this is one of those things where we would need to see it happening (and everything that has happened before it happens), and that might require the user to be recording the screen all the time they were using the software just in case it happens, and that’s not really practical.

Indeed - Very odd and I cannot say for sure what I did to end up with the issue but thanks to you all sorted.

You’re welcome.
I’ve seen a few people have this problem, which seemingly comes out of nowhere at times, but I don’t know if there has been any concerted effort to find out if it’s user error (maybe accidentally changing the value using the mouse wheel over the field when intending to scroll the panel, or otherwise), or a bug in the software, or a bit of both, or something else.
The ‘fix’ is generally easy enough though, as you have seen.

I don’t think the Spacing setting shown in the menu in your screenshot if the “paragraph spacing” that MikeTO was talking about (also it’s set to “Use None”).
Try looking at the Leading Override setting in the Character Panel when you have the edit cursor in the text (or with the whole layer selected). If Leading Override is set to 0 then that’s probably what’s wrong.

Sam Neil reacted to MikeTO in Multi-page spreads - draft manual section
My manual was never intended to be a full manual, let alone an official one. It just started out as a guide to the Books feature.
Companies don't traditional user manuals because the market has shifted and the majority of users want to learn and consume content in different ways. Now that Affinity's online help is no longer installed on our computers, Serif will be free to incorporate more screenshots and even videos which will be very helpful. Online help is also much easier to keep updated than a traditional manual if you have to support a suite of three interconnected apps in multiple languages.
I believe Adobe stopped publishing a traditional manual for InDesign circa CS3, too. But I like manuals and writing this one has let me scratch an old itch.

Sam Neil reacted to KarinC in True Grit Texture Supply & Affinity Designer
If you want pack 2 then you'd have to get them from TGTS. They are easy to use. You get an affinity file with the texture in the top layer and a white layer below that. You are supposed to put the art between the two. I copy the texture layer then paste it inside a shape - usually a rectangle that covers all of the art, or you can paste inside smaller shapes. You can double the texture to get a stronger one or I find it fun to mix two textures.

Sam Neil reacted to kenmcd in Colour Fonts
Affinity currently only supports COLRv0 color fonts.
LiebeHeide has two color formats - SBIX and SVG.
Neither of which is currently supported.
Some color SVG fonts can be converted to COLRv0, but LiebeHeide is not a good candidate as it is all images with transparency (not vectors).
