PDF/X file exporting was just added to Vectorstyler today in the newest update to version 1.2. Might be worth looking into and providing feedback for improvement. Vectorstyler and Affinity Designer work well together; it's easy to copy and paste vectors between the two programs.

That looks like a typical workflow. It also overlaps how magazine were created in the past, even if with a different approach to publishing and distribution, that also impacts on the organization of the editorial staff.
Yep, it looks like Publisher would be at home in this type of context!

It seems to make sense that if you hit a shortcut for "File - Place" it places a new image, but if you select an existing image first, it replaces the selected image instead!

PaoloT reacted to philipt18 in Two sets of footnotes
I am annotating a book that already has some footnotes. Not many, I think 9, but I want to differentiate them from my own footnotes (of which there are over 1200). In the book, the 9 footnotes use an *, and then have the note at the bottom of the page, but there's no simple way to add those and my numbered footnotes.
One solution I came up with was to have a different master page for pages with footnotes, and make the text block a bit smaller, with a separate text block on the bottom to put the original footnote. My footnotes then appear automatically and the original one shows up below it. The problem with this is that the original footnote is now below my footnotes, so it's separated from the original text. That's kind of backwards. It would make it harder for the reader to understand that those note were written by the original author.
Another solution would be to stop and start the numbering of the footnotes, and insert an * in between the numbered footnotes. This, however, would mean the * is in the middle of my footnotes, and it's a very complicated way to do it, and would likely break if any changes needed to be made.
I'd really like to find a simple solution that allowed me to insert the footnote below the text, didn't mess up the flow, and allowed my footnotes to be shown below the original footnote. Anyone have any ideas?

As I remember it, only the 'premium' channels like HBO ever promised no ads, & that still applies. As for paying for Amazon Prime, it has saved me hundreds of dollars a year on purchases & shipping costs & gives me access to tons of high quality TV shows & movies I could not otherwise get, so for me it is well worth the cost.
BTW, even without paying the extra charge for ad-free viewing, the ad breaks are far fewer & shorter than on broadcast or non-premium cable channels. That's one reason I look for & am willing to pay for services that let me avoid the ever more present & disruptive commercial breaks on U.S. TV.

    +1

I am working with text using Obsidian, would be good, if after preparing text I can set all properly and publish using my Affinity publisher.

There is no way to answer the questions about what will happen in the future other than to wait & see, or as @SallijaneG just wrote, time will tell.
Where did you see Canva say that? AFAIK, they never have claimed they are targeting Adobe or any other company in particular, just trying to improve their share of the graphics software market.

A new QR Code tool is now available from the shapes flyout in the toolbar, making it easy to add a QR code to your documents.
After creating or selecting a QR Code object you will find a 'Payload' option in the context toolbar. Here you can type whatever URL you want the QR code to link to when it is scanned.

In addition to URLs you can use other syntax as detailed below to have the QR code trigger other functions when scanned by a device:
    SMS
    Payload structure: SMSTO:number:text message
    Eg. SMSTO:07513123456:Hello mate!
    GEO location
    Payload structure: GEO:lat:lon:height
    Eg. GEO:40.71872,-73.98905,100
    WIFI credentials
    Payload structure: WIFI:S:ssid;T:type;P:password;;
    Eg. WIFI:S:MyWiFiSSID;T:WPA;P:MyPassW0rd;;

We have made some further improvements to the pencil tool.
Firstly we are now using a new curve smoothing algorithm which we believe gives general better, smoother, results when using the pencil tool.
Secondly as has been commonly requested we have now changed the "Auto-close" method so that when you have that option checked in the context toolbar the curve only closes when you are near to the start point of the curve being drawn. You will now get an indicator when you are in range of the start position of the curve so you know when a curve will be auto-closed.

As has been requested numerous times we have now converted the typography dialog from a pop-up dialog into a panel so you can now easily dock it / keep it available should you wish.
This is available both fro the Window menu (note: this is currently at the bottom of the panel listing, but will be changed to be a sub menu from the Text panel options next week), and also from the typography button in the context toolbar  when you have text selected.

If you have not enrolled into the beta program yet and would like to take part, you can do so here. This will immediately give you access to the latest 2.5 beta builds to try for yourself.
If you are already enrolled in the beta program you have two options:
    1. If you still have the 2.4 beta installed, you can now run up those beta versions and you will be prompted to update them to the 2.4 beta.
    2. If you have uninstalled the 2.4 beta, you will need to go back to Your Account -> Downloads and product keys and find your previous order for the Affinity Beta Software Program, and you can download the 2.5 beta from there.
    Thanks,
    Ash

Come on people don't be so daft.
AFAIK there's (since version 2) a subforum added and most likely the previous archived when a new beta cycle is coming on.
Patrick and Ash are adding the topics as we speak and these topics will be unhidden due time.
