  1. I've figured out a partial solution for the problem, using Better Touch Tool, a program that lets you program shortcuts. I wanted "S" to be my loupe/color picker, so in Affinity Photo, I mapped "S" to "Option+Command+Mouse click". This way I can instantly and consistently select the color under my cursor and have it set as the active/foreground color. This isn't a perfect solution because I can't take advantage of the magnification of the loupe, but speed is more important than precision in this instance.
  2. Yeah, and if you move to another document, you have to select the foreground color again: This makes working with a batch of files sort of a headache.
  3. Yeah, that is what I have been doing – but every time I open the program or switch to another document I have to re-select the foreground color, I was just looking for a way to make the foreground color stay put, always. It's a small annoyance, but I end up running into it a lot. I was just hoping that there was an quick fix so I wouldn't have to mess with the colors any more. Thanks everyone so much for trying to help me out, unfortunately it looks like it's not going to work the way I want it to.
  4. Yeah, it works really well – if I could re-assign the shortcut it would be a dream to paint with, but it doesn't work for me to use that shortcut over and over again - I have my other shortcuts set up so they're on the home row – adjusting my whole workflow is more of a hassle than working with the color picker tool. Hopefully it will be re-assignable at some point, until then I'll have to stick with the color picker. Thanks so much!
  5. Unless I'm mistaken, this shortcut cannot be re-assigned, making it a hand-killer because I'm sampling colors from the canvas hundreds of times throughout the course of a project. I utilize the swatches panel, but it doesn't fit my needs to be able to sample quickly from the canvas over and over again.
  6. But is there a way to prevent the primary/secondary colors from switching when I change back and forth between the brush tool and the color picker tool? I want to be able to use the sampled color immediately with the brush tool. Here's what it does: ...as I switch between the two tools, the selected color changes. So if I want to sample a color and immediately paint with it, I have to manually switch the colors every time I start the program or open a new document. Is there a way to prevent it from doing this, so by default I can select a color from my canvas, and immediately paint with it?
  7. Hello! I use the brush and the color picker tool to paint, but every time I start the program (or switch to another document) the color picker doesn't select the color for the brush. When I switch to the color picker tool, the colors switch too, unless I manually switch them back. So I have to manually switch the color every time. Is there a way to prevent the color picker from switching the colors every time? Thanks!
  8. Hello! I do digital painting, and am trying to transition to Affinity. I do a lot of color picking as I paint, and I switch back and forth from the color picker and the paint brush a lot, sampling colors and painting with the newly sampled color. The problem is, when I sample a color and switch back to the brush tool, the newly sampled color becomes the non-active/background color. Any way I can get the color picker to set the active/foreground color? I know that I can drag+option to select a color, but I need a way to re-bind the color picker to fit my workflow. Thanks!
  9. Hello! The colour picker's shortcut doesn't fit with how I've always done my workflow, so I've figured out a way to change it to a different key. Let me say that Affinity's way of colour picking is fine, I don't think it's broken, it's just on the wrong place on the keyboard for me, and I didn't see a way to change the shortcut (feel free to correct me if there is a way to change the shortcut). This is using Better Touch Tool, which is a free/freemium program. I programmed the "D" key to trigger the color picker, like this: So now when I press "D", it selects whatever color is under my brush at the time. Not super accurate, but good enough for me. Thought I'd post this, in case anyone else wants to do this. Thanks so much to the Affinity folks for making such a fine piece of software. :-)
  10. Hello! I'm just making the jump from Adobe, and I love working with affinity designer! The art boards are very confusing to me, however. I've been drawing cartoons to accompany blog posts in illustrator with the following process: 1. Create art boards for each panel 2. Make three layers, "sketch" layer, "ink" layer, and "colors" layer. This way I can easily reduce the opacity of the sketch layer on all of the art boards, and delete it when I'm finished. It also allows me to ink and color all of the panels at once, and export them as separate images when I'm done. I've been trying to figure out how to deal with art boards in Affinity, and I'm stuck. I've made separate art boards for each panel, but I can't just create layers that apply to all of the art boards. I tried making a really big art board on top of the smaller art boards, but that doesn't work with exporting the final small panels. Is there a way to do this without the necessity of going through each art board one-by-one to delete the sketch layers? Is it possible to create "master layers" that can be chopped up with art boards in the final export? Thanks!
