Sunset got a reaction from Roscografik in The Man In The Moon
You must have wondered about the man in the moon? Wanted to know more? I flew up there last October (31st) and had a chat to him, he gets bored but enjoys watching what we do. He has a very nice living accommodation and - I was surprised to learn - there are actually quite a few moon people up there, but this is the chief. He wouldn't allow photographs so I've reconstructed the scene for you with Affinity Designer. Enjoy :)

Sunset got a reaction from Noel Fields in Introduce Yourself
Thanks for the welcome, Andy!
If you're sitting comfortably.....the MacBook Pro 15" with Retina Display. It had to be a laptop because my workhorse souped up desktop with decent sized monitor will still be my office computer, and I couldn't work with a smaller screen.
And it's going to have to pay for itself, that's my motivation. I have a niece who designs and sells to Liberty, etc etc, so I have something to work towards (and we'll be able to discuss Macs, now). Also, I'll never give up CraftArtist but I'm well into the stage where I want to be working with my own original designs (aspirations for the DT shop??).
Virginia Woolf famously said 'a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction' - this is what I've bought, a room of my own to create graphics. Can you tell that I'm excited :D :D :D ?
Thanks for the link - bookmarked :)

Sunset got a reaction from Noel Fields in Introduce Yourself
Hi, I'm Hilary Hartigan, AKA sunset. I always said that when I retired I would buy a new (electric) piano. Yesterday hubby asked me which would I prefer, a piano or a Mac. Let's just say that the Mac will arrive in the next few days :) And, after working my way through Windows 3.1 to Windows 8.1. I am going to be a complete novice with the Mac.
I'm a total fan of things Serif but I really need something new as 'I'm all scrapped out' (a CraftArtist expression) and I don't want to get left behind on a Windows-Shelf. This looks different and exciting and fresh. By trade I'm a part time lecturer (computing out in the community), a self employed publisher and designer (but looking to change tack), a family history researcher and recorder (nearly finished) and a lover of logic and order. I have a head overflowing with ideas :D and tons of ambitions :D . I hope that I can make a useful contribution :)

Sunset got a reaction from penwiper in Autumn Leaves with Crow
Thank you for the feedback. Yes, using the eraser was a good exercise but (of course) takes a lot of refining and the crow was standing on some very green grass, fortunately I can go back to him at any time. Similarly with his feet, it will be easier to introduce some extra foliage, I think, to cover them than to work on them. Time is also the biggest issue at the moment :)

I don't think so, I think he's keeping an eye on Nasa and similar stuff - he did say he likes it nice and quiet up there, has plenty of visitors from other planets (which was a revelation) and does not want the moon to become a satellite colony for earthmen. I can see his point :D

Looks fun, but I hope he's not spying on ME. :-) There's only one Person I want looking in on me all the time. Thanks for sharing, it's super cute. His feet and pants legs at the cuffs are especially nice. I'll have to bring him some chocolate chip cookies (biscuits, for the English people here) and visit so he is distracted.

Sunset got a reaction from penwiper in Coloring illustration created in Affinity Designer
Very neat for colouring, lovely contours and a nice balance of detail and space - I just remember the boredom of colouring in the large areas when I was little! Fab :)

The eggs were a surprise - the thumbnails didn't really prepare me for all the eggcellent works of art that followed!

All up and running, the Mac is a breeze to use and I like the new darker interface of the Affinity. Now on the learning curve :)

Sunset got a reaction from peter in The Command Centre
1) Serif non-serif? That was deliberate, that was the anarchist in me doing the opposite of the expected :)
2) 21:15? That proves that my memory is not perfect, not only did I forget that it was the previous scanner that was blue, I also forgot that my digital clock in The Command Centre is, indeed, in conventional time, I thought it was set to the 24 hour clock. Maybe that was Freudian in some way, as the military time gives a greater air of authority??
Thanks for all your lovely comments :)

The pillow is for my feet - I have to have my feet up as much as possible - that's an instruction I am delighted to follow! In the second picture the Command Centre Chair makes its appearance. I should have been a cat :) I like comfort :D :D :D

Sunset got a reaction from MattP in The Command Centre
I've updated the command centre, the computer chair is in and the Serif cat is not allowed to terrorise the mouse - well, not much, he has a watching brief, but I think he would jump down on to that desktop given half a chance and then the mouse would be terrified :)
