Sunset, glad you liked it, took an hour to do and hunt down the font

Yep - I can see the likeness, his diet must have been pretty awful in the years that followed, and his mother should have told him to stop tugging at his ears all the time!  :) :) :)

It's Wonky! Yup that's his name, the imperfections just add to the realism. :)
Here he is when he did National Service.

The manager is definitely not mentioned much, you're right - but that's because we have grand plans for it and as of right now it's just in its infancy... It will hopefully become your go-to place for all the things you've stored as reusable elements, just as Ronnie suggested. We'll get there soon - just typing on lots of other things at the same time, but we'll get there sooner than you think :)

Back to Basics :) The answer is that I can't import, but there are other ways  of bringing in an illustration that has been saved elsewhere. I am a team of one and not planning to expand :D :D :D Filing is no problem, lols, I've been doing that since 1988!!

Thank you all for your input and your interesting ideas :)

I agree with what Alabaster said, opening the original Designer file and copying and pasting into a new file? Or am i missing something?

I haven't found any import method either, aside from opening the document and copy/paste-ing it into the new one. It works without a hitch for me.

Still getting the hang of it, but so far I'm liking what the program can do.

    These are my first attempts.

Hi, this is my first vector Image I finished ever :-) It was fun to watch the tutorials form staff and some members here :-)
I had more fun while creating this tiny dragon with Affinity Designer. I love it so far. To be more experienced, I have to work more and am looking frward to see more from your works and hopefully more Tutorials, that show some more of your workingprocess.

No reference, just playing around with Affinity Designer. I really like the brush engine. I tried to limit myself here to just BW on X shortcut one brush, one size. Only few white highlights added with opaque round brush beside that.

Just to add my view, as I've come to this with new eyes, I really like the cloud, it immediately made me shiver as I felt the cold of that mist. The art appeals to me.

So let me first start off by saying  I am a visual designer. I do graphic work, but I have been trying to draw more lately. I spend a lot of my time doing corporate  branding type work. Now that Affinity Designer is here it really has  freed me from the Adobe world.  I am not very good at drawing directly into the computer( I really not  as good at drawing as I want to be either) and to be honest I prefer to step away from the screen and doodle in a sketchpad. After I am done doodling I take a picture of my work with my phone and import my drawing. I use the drawing tools to trace, alter, clean up, and embellish my work.

This is my first go beyond doodling and it was  all completed in Affinity Designer! I did not experience one crash. The program is as fast, smooth and intuitive as they say.

I am looking forward to growing with this application! So much to learn so little hours in a day!

Thanks guys! You really are putting a powerful and respectable tool in our hands!

It is a nice style, I like the splash of red, too, which 'fixes' it.

This is a work in Progress. I not sure where I want to go with this or if I want to move further with it. The idea was to have him flight through a cloud. I kind of want it to be some what abstract.

Thought any  comments or ideas are  welcome.

    Likewise Sunset,

DP versus AD, are two great tools. It's gonna be tough to choose, but fun . Mac V Windows, now that's easy. It will only take 12 months or so to convert OS's and about 12 days to feel at home on AD.

If that's playing ;), what is it like when you work hard? :D Amazing...
Now you see why DrawPlus has such a loyal following. The ol' magic dust from Serif, has well and truly landed in the land of Mac.

This is so addictive. A program where you can actually learn as you work. Intuitive. Just playing around with pencil and brushes, discovering things as I go. This face is all vector work.

And no problems with the Finder, either; the update and restart have made a noticeable difference, so perhaps my Yosemite glitches are now fixed :)

I'm pleased with this, not because it's perfect, but because I've achieved it. It's loosely based on a photograph I took at Formby Beach on 21st June this year, I'd always wanted to see the sun set on the longest day and it was well worth the trek. I've used rectangles with linear fills and conical fills for the background (one on top of the other) and a solid dark red rectangle for the foreground, then built up the picture with lots and lots of brushes. My next step might be to create some texture styles - but not tonight :)
