  1. A scrapbook page of a photograph of the Queen Victoria docked on the Mersey in Liverpool, it truly was a miserable day, sitting on the top deck of the Mersey Ferry with light showers of rain from a heavy sky, A grey day. If the only thing I ever used in Affinity Photo was the auto levels - top right picture is auto levels and auto white balance - it would be worth every penny as it improved the photo instantly without losing the integrity of the scene, the weather is still apparent, as I wished it to be. (But I have been playing with those fab tools as well on other pictures,,,,) The original photo was pretty low-res from my Flickr account and I have now learnt how to assemble various items onto a page, so I'm pretty much ready to try my usual stuff with Affinity Photo now :) PS I'm also getting better with the Mac and with Affinity export choices!!
  2. I'm in! As usual, it would help if I knew more about Macs, but I've opened my first photo in Affinity Photo - a small research vessel going along the Mersey - I've liquified it and created, quite accidentally, a great effect of it going at speed by using the paint mixer brush. This is a learning curve that I am going to enjoy as I love 'messing about with photos' :) Cheers, guys :)
  3. 1) Serif non-serif? That was deliberate, that was the anarchist in me doing the opposite of the expected :) 2) 21:15? That proves that my memory is not perfect, not only did I forget that it was the previous scanner that was blue, I also forgot that my digital clock in The Command Centre is, indeed, in conventional time, I thought it was set to the 24 hour clock. Maybe that was Freudian in some way, as the military time gives a greater air of authority?? Thanks for all your lovely comments :)
  4. Good thinking, I like that idea :)
  5. Cheers! And I agree, this community is brill :D
  6. The pillow is for my feet - I have to have my feet up as much as possible - that's an instruction I am delighted to follow! In the second picture the Command Centre Chair makes its appearance. I should have been a cat :) I like comfort :D :D :D
  7. Love your shading and texture, I'd be happy to have this framed on my wall. Her expression is brill, too!
  8. Neat and very 3D, lovely effects :)
  9. Fab first upload with AD - from AI, those mountains are brill, too :)
  10. I like the bold, confident shading, lovely work and great expressions :)
  11. I've updated the command centre, the computer chair is in and the Serif cat is not allowed to terrorise the mouse - well, not much, he has a watching brief, but I think he would jump down on to that desktop given half a chance and then the mouse would be terrified :)
  12. Thanks,Matt - The cat did the sketch :D :D :D
  13. Plan B worked, but my internet started dropping out (doesn't happen normally) and as I wasn't in the command room with the router I never noticed and seem to have multiple threads now. A new day tomorrow :)
  14. Doodling is my favourite pastime and, following a conversation in another thread, I've created an impression of my Command Centre, it's a bit tidy looking, but pretty realistic as I'm in the posh room watching TV, not in The Command Centre at the moment :)
  15. Thankyou, Peter :) plan A deleted, I'lll try plan B
  16. PC is "work", Mac is for "not work" or "work related" Never the twain shall meet. Anyway, hubby is pleased because he sees more of me :) Help please, if you can, I've just completed an illustration of "The Command Centre" but I've been working on a 12"x12" canvas. What is the best way to reduce it in size for the forum, please?
  17. You are so kind. both :) I haven't been very well, nothing serious but I've just been more comfortable here on my Windows desktop where desk, seating, feet up, scanner, printers, files, etc, cocoon me like a StarWars command centre. This is known as The Workroom, other normal people might use this room as a dining room. But the Mac has yet to find itself a proper home :) I'm going there now, though, as there are some good programs on the gogglebox to enjoy at the same time :)
  18. Yes, I have, I have missed a lot of very good work and got to get back into the swings of things again :)
  19. I thought for a moment I'd slept right past publisher and photo! I like it, eyecatching and clean style. I would certainly look twice at that flyer.
  20. Trying something completely different whilst watching "The Voice" on the gogglebox tonight. Finger painting, using the pixel persona and just two brushes (the second only used for the light on the edge of the water), the eraser and only the trackpad and my finger - no mouse, no tablet. Very smooth, gets some lovely results and it is possible to use the wet edge of the brush to deliberately create some neat effects. Prize of the day goes to the eraser. With the background on one layer and the girl on a separate layer, painting the girl was more difficult but the eraser got the shape back. Playing around with brush transparency and opacities and layering can create great effects. But that's my stint finished, for tonight :)
  21. Yes, I did see that one on Countryfile - wild idea, putting the train into training!
  22. My parcel tub was in reality more rounded than I had time to make it (or make it properly) in Affinity, crossed with the bottom half of a stage coach, the very thing that the steam engine killed off. Quite a wide scope with lake district or Cornwall - your race sounds more cornish to me, a la Trevithick? But I do like the illustrations that you have attached, I think I did see this on Countryfile quite recently? The jollity of the passengers is much the same. Isometric Grid - that was a new term to me, but I've had an interesting five minutes reading all about it (it was pretty self-descriptive but it never hurts to find out more).....mmmmm.........I think you might!
  23. On my Windows computer using Serif's other programs :D :D I've been doing family history for a friend and was getting lots of stuff together for him calling round tomorrow. The best stuff, though, is a story of one of his families written in PagePlus with A4 pages created in CraftArtist for each section of the story - beautiful pages that incorporate photographs that I've taken of each location together with place names and backgrounds. Also the Christmas tree is in the way of my Mac laptop in "the posh room" :D :D :D
