yes lumafusion is coming to andriod...... but sadly its not the same version as ios.... i do believe it is 1-2 version below the current ios version.... and thats precisely what i mean..... apple get the best of everything while andriod users gets the boot.... granted i am happy that is finally coming.... not so happy how its being implemented

In time it will reach feature parity, wait for it, it's just the first version for android

i asked this exact question back in 2019 with the samsung galaxy tab s6 came out.... and got the same exact answer as most of you and as ironic as it sounds they said the exact same thing back then as they are saying today.... they had 4 yrs to figure that out and they chose to be loyal to apple..... i too hate apple products and refuse to use the ipad as well.....  since then i gave up on knock my head on a dead end product that could be used on andriod that too specifically samsung since they are the leader of the pack..... i now use xgimp image editor on my samsung galaxy tabe s7 plus..... so far it works for my needs on a tablet...... quit beating your heads ..... this company and many others support apple for 1 reason..... because thats where the money is...... andriod sadly (and its not only limited to just software or hardware) has always gotten the boot which is how andriod will eventually fail..... every company supports apple and windows over any other company which should not be a surprise to anyone.... take it as it is..... your crys for this to be on andriod are just going on deaf ears..... these people are interested in the easy money ..... and even if the companies do support andriod... its always half baked rather then the full package that apple receives which is pathetic.... and countless companies are guilty of this..... because their loyalty is with apple/windows.... so take it as it is ..... i am still going to use affinity photo on my windows pc regardless.... since thats the only option i have..... sometimes the truth hurts.... but at the end of the day its being realistic.....

Things are much different today than they were 3y ago. We're getting 12L meaning Android is officially back on big screens and not just some Samsung experiment, sales of high end Android tablets are also going up and some nice SW (LumaFusion) is on it's way to Android. Not saying we'll see Affinity on Android anytime soon, or ever, but with recent development I see a bright future for Android on tablets with or without Serif. Btw if they decide to ignore it, some other  company will jump in.

Adobe Creative Cloud, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements and Photoshop Mix are all available as Android apps and that's just from one competitor company. In addition, Serif Affinity has had greater priorities, one of which is making sure that all their profitable software products work well on Apple's range of M1 Macs.

I can fully understand the wish for Affinity apps to be available on the Android platform but there's no sign yet that the company is interested in going down that route and we cannot do anything about that. Currently, their job vacancies are asking for people with experience of Windows, macOS or iOS so I'd suggest keeping a watch on their job vacancies to see if they start asking for people with "experience of Windows, macOS, iOS or Android", and then you'll know that something interesting might be about to happen.

Those Adobe products are heavily washed down versions. Yes I know Affinity sw for iPads are also somewhat lite, but way more capable than Adobe's offerings which is why Adobe has announced their full blown photoshop for iPads.

At one time that might have been said of PowerPC as well.

ARM is the current fad, and it certainly does have its share of advantages at this point in time, but it will eventually be replaced by something else as well (RISC-V seems to be gaining a lot of momentum for example).

That is the way of the computer world.

I'm not too worried about Macs on Apple's ARM implementation; I am much more curious to see how their GPU performance stands up against the big players.  From the WWDC announcements it definitely sounds promising, but we may not have the complete story yet, and it is not clear at this point how this might impact multi-GPU support for higher-end processing tasks.

Interesting.  So that might open a door for native Affinity apps on Windoze/ARM at some point in the future too.

Looks like someone created a Github Issue: https://github.com/dotnet/wpf/issues/1817 and one of their contributors tagged that issue with a .NET 5 milestone (https://github.com/dotnet/wpf/milestone/5)

Maybe Serif can put some positive pressure on their product manager for WPF to get that out the door, if indeed Microsoft wants to increase adoption of Windows on ARM. Sadly, it probably is not a good use of time to port the UI to remove the WPF dependency. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't prioritized this if they indeed want greater ARM adoption.

If Adobe apps are built with WPF, that would be good news for us too since it seems like there is some sort of partnership happening there.

Unfortunately there's a new WinUI framework that they're pushing and Wpf probably won't be supported on arm. It remains to be seen if Affinity team desides to waste time, energy, money on rewriting their code. Whatever they decide to do, I'll understand.

Have you guys considered Vulkan? Unlike Cuda it's available on all gpus and I think it offers comparable if not better performance than Metal.

Don't get us wrong Mark, we appreciate all the hard work you and your team put into these programs but this latest feature fragmentation made us feel little left behind and many would for sure feel better if you guys shared some plans for bringing windows suit of apps on pair with their mac counterparts.

I am not sure about the oldest supported Macs. I think it is limited to ones that either have a high end OEM Radeon GPU or a few recent Intel integrated ones, but it is also dependent on some other OEM hardware features, possibly including ThunderBolt 3 & the fast, multilane bus architecture needed to support that. For iPads, it is probably all Pro models + (I hope) the non-pro ones that support the Apple Pencil like mine.

So at least 3-4 year old devices.

It doesn't seem normal when my former top of the line computer from 2013 is able to perform better than that.

    PC or Mac?

My main point was that hardware compute acceleration is currently only supported on certain Macs & iPads

What are the oldest Macs and iPads that support it? My main point on the other hand is that as long as Windows ~$4k workstations are getting their asses handed over to them by iPads we the Windows users have every right to feel like 2nd grade citizens.

but you can't really blame Serif for that, anymore than I can blame them for not supporting Macs like mine.

Not blaming anyone, just saying that they shouldn't bare the same version number when the biggest feature of 1.7, hw acceleration is missing in windows version (and probably won't be included for a looonnnggg time) and that there should be a disclaimer regarding "fastest editing software" when people are having enormous slowdowns on their threadripper/gtx 1080ti systems. Let people know what they're buying and what to expect.

I hope you manage to find a solution because it is not a good experience so far. I really mean it when I say rendering a 4k video and playing Battlefield 4 is a more fluid experience than having only Affinity Photo open and a 400px image..

Or at least be a bit more honest in their marketing material: "Affinity 1.7 for Mac and 1.7lite for Windows now available". Or "1.7 kind of edition".
