MaryLou got a reaction from Bri-Toon in Create Tiles/Pattern Repeats?
Yes, that's exactly what I want.  There was an oldie by Ulead called PhotoImpact.  It was purchased by Corel around 2008 and since Corel also sells PaintShopPro, they discontinued PhotoImpact which eliminated some of the competition. That was a shame because PhotoImpact was a far better program.  There was also a filter that worked with the older programs that did it as well.  This works very well for most images, especially those used for background images.
I do have Affinity Photo but have only opened it a few times.  Haven't had time to learn my way around nor the motivation since I have no interest in photo processing of any kind.  I also don't enter contests but I often want to use a pattern as a web page background and not many people really inspect it to see if all the pieces match up so this method works just fine. If I were to enter a contest, it would be all 100% original work.

The example that Bri-Toons made came out great!  Thanks for trying.  I will look on YouTube and see if I can find a simple tutorial there.

It might be good to mention that you cannot import the .afmacro files unless you have an open document.  I kept trying and nothing happened but as soon as I opened a new document, the icon turned white and It all worked perfectly.

OH, I see.  There are two different threads going around about cheat sheets but they are different things.  I see that now.  Yours is an actual keyboard image and since you made and posted it,  Thanks for sharing!  Things like this are always very helpful.
The other thread with links to a cheat sheet has images of all the shortcuts from the back of the workbooks.  These are the ones I'm concerned. I don't want to pass around links unless I know it's okay to do so.  Thanks for clarifying this.

When I logged into Affinity Photo 1.6.0.89 it suggested that I download the latest update, I was suspicious because I thought all updates were done automatically, however your message on this forum confirms that an update is available, is it safe to download from a website called go.affinity?

I was able to make a spiral following your instructions but wow.... what a LOT of work!!  I think I'll lay off the spirals until Affinity adds that abiliby.

Myself, I prefer written tutorials.  I can go back and re-read what I don't understand and do it again until I do.  With videos, I spend far too much time backing up the video because I either didn't see how the author did something or there is no voice to tell me, and then there are people who have a heavy accent which makes it a bit difficult to understand.  The written word takes care of all those problems.  There's one video tut writer (don't recall his name) but he has an accent and tends to lower his voice when saying the last 3-4 words. So, I have to back it up again, usually several times, so I can figure it out.  I have not tried these tutorials yet but will give them a shot.  I only replied because you did ask what people prefer.

I appreciate everyone's feedback, and I respect the honest criticism. Now I know what to improve. For tutorial 9, I will be sure to slow things down and be more explanatory. I guess it's like taking a new job. The trainer who has been there for a while does not realize how much needs to be covered because he or she is so use to the system. It's no problem at all.

Would people still prefer a text tutorial, or a verbal one?

OH, that's a shame! It seems sort of like a step backwards, to be honest. That means, you have to re-create your favorites every time you want to use them.  Must say, I am disappointed. :(

Maybe this part  hasn't been implemented yet, but I tried to import some .abr brushes that I downloaded from 4 different places but each time, I got a popup message saying "error importing brushes".  So, I thought maybe that part isn't working yet.

Speaking of brushes, will be be able to import our DrawPlus brushes?  I would sure hate to lose them all.

    Thanks!!

I would like to see a Spiral tool added under the Pen tool.  That was one of the very best features in DrawPlus and would make a wonderful addition to Affinity Designer.  The folks on my forum used it... a lot.. and we all miss it.  Please give us a Spiral tool in AD.  :D

MaryLou got a reaction from only7yb in Remove "okay" button on Alignment Panel
Several of us were discussing the fact that you have to click a button to accept the changes when using the Alignment panel in Affinity Designer.  This is sooooo annoying!  Why is that button there?  Most times, I forget to click it because just about everything else is automatically applied.  For example, if I apply any of the effects, I don't have to click a button to apply them.  If I select a style, I don't have to click a button to apply it.  Right off, I can't think of anywhere that I have to click a button to apply something other than this darn alignment panel.

Any chance you could eliminate that?  If one doesn't like the effect, we can always use an Undo.

No problem, Alfred.  I do know the difference in the various graphic types and if it was something worth keeping, I would have used the .png format.  Using .jpg is just habit.  At one time, that, and .gif were about the only formats available.  Hard to teach an old dog new tricks sometimes! :) :)

MaryLou got a reaction from DarkClown in Menu Alignment and sorted
I would like to see the dropdown menus in the panels sorted and left aligned.  For example, the Styles menu.  It's so hard to read and you have to search for everything.  Just having it left aligned instead of centered would help, but having it sorted alphabetically would help even more.   I'm attaching an example of what I mean.

MaryLou got a reaction from DavidSaide in Spell Check doesn't understand English
Sorry about the title but I don't know what else to call it.  There are 3 people on my forum that all have the same problem.  When the Spell check option is on (which is the default), the spell checker underlines words that are spelled correctly.

We tested it using Artistic text and Framed text and in both cases, correctly spelled words were underlined in red to indicate the words were spelled wrong.

Is there a setting we may have used to cause this?  As I said, 3 people are experiencing this problem.

This isn't about AP placing images as an object, it's about the tools changing when attempting to paste.  The move tool is active when you make a copy but when you want to paste the copy on another image, the tool switches back to  the View tool.  I am happy that it does paste as an object, that's how it should be.  The problem is in the tools.  It works great in Affinity Designer, but not in Photo.

On the current version of Affinity Designer, something new has been added to the Studios.  The first one is 32 Bit Preview.

What is that for?  I was not able to find any information in the help files so don't know what to do with it.  Can anyone help, please?  Oh, and in layman's terms, please.
