MaryLou got a reaction from Gregory Chalenko in Where are the files located?
This is a two-fold question.  First, where do Designer and Photo hide your files like your styles, brushes, color palettes, Assets on a PC?  I've looked in Program Files, Program Files (86) and in the apps areas, Local, Roaming, etc. and I can't find them anywhere.
And secondly, if you have a gazillion styles or brushes, etc, installed, does that slow the program down?
    Thank you in advance.

Same here.  This was reported a few times but has not yet been fixed.  I can't count how many times I have saved something and it saves the Whole Document when I only wanted the selected objects saved.  I have to go back and re-save it again. Very time consuming. In any other program I've used, it always saves the last preference.  Hopefully, this will be fixed.

I have to agree with Teejay.  We were promised this which is one reason many of us bought the program.  I'm thinking maybe there was a big mud slide that caused a huge road block.  While Designer is nice,  DrawPlus is a better program.  It has great features and it's disappointing to NOT see them included in Affinity.   Maybe they need to get a crew to remove the mud from the road and give us what was promised so long ago.

Alfred, any chance you could do a quick sample with pictures to show how to get the seamless tile?  I really did try but I was totally lost and would love to know how to do that.  I have a number of nice patterns but they are not seamless.

MaryLou got a reaction from digital in Pixel Gap
Why am I getting a gap in my pixels?   In the image below, I set my pixel tool to 1. I created a 12 pixel square. I then duplicated that square 3 times which put each square on a different layer.  I attempted to put them together to make one image.  However, as you can see, there is a tiny gap between each square.  Why is this happening?  Another person had the same problem.  However, when she did this in Affinity Photo, there were no gaps.  What are we doing wrong?

OH, that's a shame! It seems sort of like a step backwards, to be honest. That means, you have to re-create your favorites every time you want to use them.  Must say, I am disappointed. :(

That's true, Alfred, but how does that relate to iPad/Pad 2, iPad (mini), etc?

Even so, it would be nice if the rest of us knew what those sizes are.  Otherwise they are meaningless.

When working with Art Boards, and going to pick a size from the dropdown Document window, I am totally lost.  As a Windows user, I have no idea what those sizes mean.  Can that be changed to something that is more meaningful to the non-apple users? I have attached the drop-down menu..

Well, I've always heard that but I'm not superstitious.  I've also heard that walking under a ladder is unlucky.  That could be true, especially if the person on the ladder dropped something as you walked under.  Many tall buildings don't even have a floor numbered 13 which is totally silly.  But a lot of people believe in those old myths.

Please put the spiral shape in the Shapes panel.  Each time I want to use it, I have to go to Draw Plus to get the shape the way I want it, then save it and open it in AD.  Would be so nice if we could have that little feature.

That cat is definitely a female.  Look at the confidence she has just in the way she sits!  If it was a male cat, he would be laying down all curled up in a ball with a smile on his face.  Girl cats have a mysterious look so this one has to be a female.

I kind of have to disagree with the part about it being more difficult for older ones to learn such things.  Many of us older ones were the pioneers for home computers back in the day. The only reason the older ones might have a problem is because they were not exposed to technology.  I am 80 years old and find myself teaching those in the younger generations how to do things.  It's not so much a matter of age, it's what you have been exposed to.

MaryLou got a reaction from only7yb in Remove "okay" button on Alignment Panel
Several of us were discussing the fact that you have to click a button to accept the changes when using the Alignment panel in Affinity Designer.  This is sooooo annoying!  Why is that button there?  Most times, I forget to click it because just about everything else is automatically applied.  For example, if I apply any of the effects, I don't have to click a button to apply them.  If I select a style, I don't have to click a button to apply it.  Right off, I can't think of anywhere that I have to click a button to apply something other than this darn alignment panel.

Any chance you could eliminate that?  If one doesn't like the effect, we can always use an Undo.

Where did you get the 4% users number? Isn't stomt just a wee bit over priced? It seems to be oriented to gaming but even if it could be translated to a software company, what would be the value over analytics done by technical support and the data on the forums?
This is your first post in the forums. So where did the 4% figure come from?

MaryLou got a reaction from Alfred in Sticky New Document Choices
When one creates a New Document in Affinity Designer for the PC, you put in your size and other preferences.  They all "stick" so you don't have to do it the next time around.  However, the box to Create Artboard does NOT stay sticky.  Why is that?   I work on an artboard 99% of the time so every time I start a new document, it's an extra step to check that box.  I should not have to do that.  If I'm in a hurry, I forget to check it so once the document opens, I have to select the artboard tool and drab a box over the document so it becomes an artboard.
My request is, please make the artboard choice sticky on the New Document menu along with all of our other choices.
    Thank you!

Thanks RC-R - it's not a problem.  I am going to opt out of getting emails on this topic because I got exactly what I was looking for.  I actually found it interesting that one cannot keep repeating a letter just by holding down the key on the keyboard.

Thank you so much!!!   This is the perfect solution and so EASY!   I did try using the Character features to adjust the spacing but that didn't work. Just could NOT get the text perfect.   I just now tried the justified text (brilliant idea) and it did the trick!!
Thanks to all who made suggestions - it's good to know one can always get help here.  And again, a huge thanks to A_B_C for the perfect solution!!!  I am a happy camper!

John, thanks for your efforts but I do not use Photo. I believe the program I use to create seamless tiled images uses the same method as you show, but it's all automatic.  I like automatic.

Alfred, you have a very good memory.  Yes, PIRCnet.com did derive from PhotoImpact back in the last century.    Once that was discontinued, we changed to PaintShopPro but none of us liked it. We eventually found DrawPlus and loved it.  But, we all know what happened to that. So now, we are an Affinity forum and hope to stay that way for a long time to come.
In PhotoImpact, you open your pattern, drag a selection line around the area you want to keep for your pattern, then select the Seamless Tile option.  PhotoImpact opens a window with suggested values that you can change, or not.  Click the button and it's done. I'm attaching an image to show what I mean as well as how my seamless tile came out.  This is not perfet by any means, but it works better than anything else around.  I don't think that people looking at patterns really dissect them and check for perfection - at least, I don't.  It would be difficult to see where this image was manipulated to make it seamless unless that's what you were searching for.  I'm hoping that eventually, we will have such a feature in Affinity Designer.
