  1. Hi, all. It's probably me being stupid, but I have a problem with removing backgrounds from photos.

I select the Selection Brush, pick a suitable size, and "trace" around the outline, usually of a face. Fine, no problem.

Then I select the Flood Fill tool, pick (say) white as the colour, and "tip" into the background.

O.K., except that if I have used flash photography, or natural lighting has caused a shadow, this dark/black area does not get filled by the flood tool. Even though it is outside of the lassoo'd selection area.

I then have to use the Paintbrush tool, set to white, to clear this dark area.

Is this a problem with Affinity Photo coding, or am I missing something?

I would appreciate any help/comments asap, as I now depend on this for photo-editing ID cards in my work.

    Thanks in advance, Pete

  2. I've read through what seems like hundreds of FAQs & forum topics, but I'm now losing the will to live !!!!!

All I want is the equivalent of the "Cutout Studio" in PhotoPlus (8).

    Can anyone tell me -

1 Is there an equivalent in Affinity Photo?

2 If so, how do I get to it?

Many thanks for your expected help/advice.

    Regards,

    Pete
