If I'd known this I'd never have bought the suite. New versions are updates of older one's or am I missing something here?
Can't say I'm impressed with Serif and the prospect at having to pay again, it's not going to go down well with many users in the current climate.
I keep saying this too but there's not even a trace action in Affinity Designer which is bog standard in Illustrator and Corel Draw.

For me personally 'Another pay, I'm away' 😔

Affinity is very customer friendly with respect to prices. Be patient and observant, and you will not be disappointed. The Affinity timeline may not be your timeline, but Affinity does respect and serve the customer in outstanding ways.

You are not Microsoft or Apple. The sole reason I purchased AD is due to friends suggestions as you were not Adobe for which we all know how their business works. Please don't try to sell me different reasons because I know more than you think and I myself running biggest dedicated Cinema 4D (I even worked for Maxon for 3y) forums around the web and our community is well aware on how business works. What is not fair is that now, I cannot even give my license away but rather its more like I just throw away my 60E and the cause of it is your business model for witch many of us were thinking is much better than Adobes and that's why we choose you, but as we can see from this example, not really that different with the restrictions you put here. Just stupid and now some members are already aware of it but Ill make sure more are aware of it, as we all know and you know not many of us read license agreements.
Trust me, we as users of your products are already tired of the business model everyone is pushing. Seems like not many really care about end user but mostly on how to trick us and earn more $$ and just milk us until we cannot give you anymore. Maxon is not better at this atm, Adobe not even worth of mentioning and now even you guys. Then you wonder why people pirate software, well, you don't have to go long way to figure it out.
Here's the reply I got from the forum member I wanted to give the license to...

So you just forced me throw away 60E with this tactics? I don't really buy this piracy thing, as I am sure there is a pirated version of AD. I really had high hopes for this company but it seems business is business and its scummy all around no matter how nice you wanna be portraited. Well, lucky you, you already have my money.

To expect potential users to read between the lines is surely tantamount to potentially suggesting there is false advertising being used.  If the advertising says it is a "Photoshop replacement" then yes, it should and must be exactly that, or false representation is being made.  But it doesn't say that, anywhere, including in the section of the publicity you quote.
Unfortunately, perhaps, you have read between the lines and assumed something which has never been claimed or stated.

It advertises as the Photoshop Replacer. I shouldn't have to demo it. Also I would have bought it anyway for other stuff.
Don't see how that response helps though. No questions were answered as to whether I am missing the features somewhere or not or maybe plugins avail for Affinity that do as I ask ?
Also, my post should be taken seriously if Affinity wants to grow, cause everything I mentioned is seriously getting popular thanks to millions of people getting into game modding now. Affinity would benefit from it.
Plus, Affinity should just literally do everything Photoshop does. This is a no brainer IMO. Then Serif will be topping Forbes Magazine all thanks to my advice.
Ohh, side note, after fiddling around some more, I also found Affinity to lack in how it handles Alpha Channels. Lots of improvement there to be more user friendly. Ability to load transparency as a alpha channel from the file itself upon opening is a must.
Either case, seriously, does Affinity do this or not ?

Sigh. A new low. Believe it or not, some people actually learn and produce without living their life on a forum.
I used Adobe for decades without a single post on the Adobe forums. But I did read a lot. And followed tutorials. I never had to post anything. Plenty of knowledge out there and plenty of features in Adobe CC. I believe @Nikon Shooter did the same.
But why are you questioning him and his honesty, Internet Judge Alain P. ? I often see many users here as member of a semi-religious cult rather than a user base of creatives. Question the product and the usual responses pop up. Some users here could use auto replies posted by first generation chat bot tech. Would probably save them for several hours a week. The replies doesn't help Serif or the product development by the way.

This discussion is developing in a familiar direction.
Given how difficult (either in time or expertise or manpower) Serif finds it to fix simple bugs or provide simple features, why should anyone believe that Serif will eventually develop something as complex as the DAM that has been speculated about in these forums for years?
Meanwhile, the competition, which had a DAM when I first began digital editing eighteen years ago, is moving well beyond anything dreamed of by APhoto users. They are applying artificial intelligence (whatever that means) to provide features such as automated object selection, automated colorization of black & white photos, automated background removal, and automated sky replacement.
I have been using APhoto for three years. It's been fun and I learned a lot about photo editing in these forums and through the several people dedicated to creating free tutorials and inexpensive training courses for APhoto. But during that time Serif has directed ever more resources into desktop publishing on the Mac platform while APhoto has been largely neglected. I often fear I have gone down a blind alley with APhoto.

Some of them, perhaps, because of that word "apparently". For this one, for example, your first paragraph reveals some aspects that make it not as simple as one might believe on the surface. To satisfy everyone you'd probably need to allow, at least, the choices of saving/exporting to the original directory, or saving/exporting to a standard directory, or saving/exporting to the last directory used, and probably also saving/exporting to a directory related to the file's original directory. And possibly more, such as saving/exporting to the last directory used for this particular file, independently of the directory being used for any other file.

emmrecs01 reacted to Dan C in Can't update in MAS without credit card?
If you are unable to update your purchase through Apples Mac App Store, then this needs to be taken up with Apple. It sounds like you are unable to update your app through the Mac App Store, due to limitations put in place by Apple, so you will need to contact them for a resolution.
You are entitled to your updates, provided you are still covered by the terms of sale between yourself and Apple, when you purchased the app through the Mac App Store. I cannot comment on the specifics of these terms, as Affinity aren't involved in this process, and never have been. You may find that you're able to be refunded for the application, if you can no longer access the updates to the app - but again this will need to be discussed with Apple and not ourselves.
I'm very sorry to hear you've found no way to appeal this option, but we at Affinity have no say or control in this manner.
We at Affinity have no control over credit cards, purchases, refunds, Apple ID or anything else Mac App Store related - it's simply used as a platform to distribute our software. Any purchase made through the Mac App Store means that you are a customer of Apple, and a user of our software. We're more than happy to help any users of our software as best we can, but this does not change the previous information.
There is no 'upgrade path' from the Mac App Store to the Affinity Store versions, this is mostly due to the above - as Apple don't provide us with any sales information, we cannot confirm who is an official 'owner' of the software when purchased through the Mac App Store, so we cannot transfer these licenses. I am certain that you could provide an invoice etc for the purchase, but this isn't deemed enough (as unfortunately documents can be faked rather easily.)
I will be locking this thread from further replies, as I have explained our position here and I feel no more requires adding. I'm very sorry to hear of the experience you've had with Apple and I wish we could assist further.

I can't believe that, either. At $20 a month you'll give Adobe $240 this year, and again next year, and ....
For about $160 (with the offered discount from Serif) you can get the Mac version of all three Affinity apps and the two that are available for the iPad. That's a savings of $80 this year alone.

Thanks for the prompt and thorough reply..
I am not trying to use Artboards, that is just way it works, isn't it?  They are automatically created as a file is dropped into Designer.
So if I then shrink it and copy it to a second, it is on an Artboard because Designer is not intelligent enough to know it can't really do what I am about to do??  If it shouldn't do something, why does it do it, create a nasty looking error, yet NOT put up any flags whatsoever to tell the increasing exasperated user what they/it shouldn't have done?  Not very good at error catching..
Your answer sent me straight back to the programme and I found out, quite by chance, that I could delete an Artboard and keep the objects ,, BUT each A4 picture (they actually came from .pdfs so that explains the way there were handled by Designer.. We learn summat everyday ... ) consisted of 2 Artboards side by side .. When I went to delete the 2nd Artboard but keep objects, all that was deleted were the objects from the first..    Your answer explained a lot, thanks very much .. but also revealed that Designer is probably becoming too complicated.  Middle Aged bloat catching up maybe..

    Thanks again.

PS  A correctly labelled picture is worth a 1000 words, ain't it??    So Y can't we label 'em? If this platform displayed the captions of pictures it might have been (much) more obvious what I was doing ...

Really, really disappointed. While I’m not absolving myself of all blame here, I still think it should be made way more clear that you need to repurchase for each OS. The drop down menu during purchase is auto selected and I guess I assumed at the time that it pertained to the download itself, not the key.
The idea that if I chose to buy an iPad that you guys expect me to purchase the programs FOR A THIRD TIME is absolutely insane and goes against most of the industry.
I’ll be renewing Creative Cloud as they don’t engage in this exploitative behavior and it only costs me $20 a month. I can’t believe Adobe makes more economic sense for me, but I can’t imagine paying for the same software 3 separate times. Let alone when 2.0 comes out and I’d have to do it all over again.
    Thanks, I guess.

    Welcome to the Affinity forums.
Since the error message clearly states "Your payment has been declined by your payment provider", how can you be so sure the problem is with Affinity???
However, I believe others have experienced this problem when using Debit, rather than Credit cards, especially if the owner of the card is not in the UK, where Serif/Affinity are based.  I am sure one of the Serif Customer Support staff will see your post and respond after the weekend.

I was under the impression that the Microsoft Store version has always required Windows 10. The Affinity Store version will run on Windows 7, but only with Service Pack 1 (SP1) and the Platform Update installed; I think the Platform Update has only been a prerequisite for relatively recent builds of the Affinity apps, which would tie in with the “doesn’t work any more” observation.

Serif makes updates to the books to incorporate anything they think is a critical change to how the sample projects work or how the interface works.
I think it's important to understand that the workbooks are not (and are not intended to be) manuals. It is not their purpose to show/explain everything about the applications. Their primary purpose is to give the user a set of worked example projects, to help them learn more about how to use the applications.
As it is not a manual, and has never shown everything about the applications, changes in the application have relatively little effect on the content of the workbooks.

That's a shame and in my opinion a bad move.
Not even Adobe did limit features because of other products, what they did is make a product thats woth while picking becaues its a much more eficient way to work something out. Publisher should stand out by its own not because you limit features on another Software that should have it.
Example of this is Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign where you can export PDF, web features, etc ... they relate with each other in those kinds of features but non the less there are very robust features to choose one over the other for a specific job.

Its feels like a scam ... like you could do much more and you decide not to just because you would prefer everyone to invest in a full software just for a tiny little thing that should have been there from the begining. If you plan PDF support, you should work on it, regadless. This makes the decision to stay with Adobe, much easier,  just paying at the moment you have a job and you can use whatever product you like and have no compatibility issues as they are the standard.

    A real shame!
