Please do not keep making duplicate posts for the same request or we may have to take action which can reduce your posting privileges here on the Affinity Forums, many thanks.

emmrecs01 reacted to walt.farrell in Bug command “change document size” used in a macro
Affinity Photo is not Photoshop, and it works differently.
Resizing in a macro requires use of the Distort filter, using Equations to set the size.
Note that if you're using the macro in a batch job, you an simply use the size boxes in the Batch Job setup; resizing there does not require a macro.

emmrecs01 reacted to Gabe in Problem with images without color profile
I'm not really sure what you're trying to achieve. If you don't want to convert them to your working space, why do you have the tick box checked?Convert is meant to convert from the embedded space to what you have selected in the preferences. Assign should use the profile selected in the same menu and assign that to the unprofiled document. As it is now, it assigns sRGB. You would then need to manually assign the correct profile in Document > Assign ICC profile. I've already said it's a bug and logged with our developers, and you have a simple workaround.
Trying to convert an unprofiled document is wrong, as there is no source ICC, so you need to assign it a profile at some point anyways.

emmrecs01 reacted to GarryP in WebP roadmap
Have a look at the replies from some of the Serif staff in this thread from 2019: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/85857-affinity-not-for-webdesign-no-webp-still/
As I read it, they don’t seem to have a problem with WebP, as such.
They seem to be waiting until there is more actual evidence that it is widely used, is supported by the major players, and will remain to be so before they think any more about doing something with it, which seems quite fair considering everything else they have got to deal with.
I don’t see much need for further discussion on this. Serif are well aware of what’s happening in the graphics field (most probably much more so than many users) and if they decide not to add WebP functionality then that’’s entirely their decision as it’s their software and they can do with it as they please.
This page https://w3techs.com/technologies/overview/image_format may give you some idea of why they might not be doing much with it.

Hi @p_mac,
You've already reported this here:
If you need to bump a post or post an update, please use your original reply, instead of creating a new identical post.

emmrecs01 reacted to Alfred in Import .ppp?
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Steve.
Affinity Publisher is built by some of same developers who worked on PagePlus, but the entire Affinity suite has been built from the ground up and doesn’t share any code with the legacy ‘Plus’ applications. Since it’s very much younger than PP, APub lacks many of the features that were added to the older product over the course of three decades, so a purpose-built import facility probably wouldn’t work any better than the PDF route which is already available to us (and development of such a facility would divert resources away from the task of fixing bugs and improving the feature set of the newer product).

emmrecs01 reacted to walt.farrell in Where has serif moved the command to view only my posts?
The interface for the Affinity forums has not changed significantly, recently, that I have noticed.
If you've changed to a significantly different screen size that would affect the layout.

emmrecs01 reacted to kanihoncho in Successfully transferred apps from laptop to desktop
the forum reorganization is absolutely horrible. The verbiage used in the upper right dropdown menu IS NOT intuitive and the I am unable to find the original post so I'm reporting that you can transfer the Affinity apps from your laptop to your desktop (no internet at home now). Joke: Affinity forum now works like Apple's support website, almost totally useless . . .

emmrecs01 reacted to floortester in booklet printing
I have tried to print a booklet of double sided 2 up A5 on A4 booklet, I produced a trial document with a large page number on the sheet and tried all the various options.
The print option offered does not match the layout on the HELP file, and what ever option you choose, printing via a PDF printer, the first page is printed on its own on a A4 sheet, page 2 is on the right and the rest is a jumble,
it is blindingly obvious that nobody in Infinity has ever tried the system, it only works if you use a pair of scissors. When printing a booklet of sections of 4 pages outputting as PDF, page 1 and the last page are on one side of a sheet, page 2 and the next to last are on the next and so on. I will continue to use Microsoft publisher, even though it is some 5 years out of date as it knows how to print.

emmrecs01 got a reaction from Jenna Appleseed in How to buy Affinity program while on free trial?
@Mabel Lucy
The product key for the purchased version is supplied to you when the actual purchase and payment is confirmed. You don't need the (missing) trial version key in order to buy the full version.

emmrecs01 got a reaction from jmwellborn in New assets not installed universally
@DigitalStirling @Stepaan
Since all the apps have the facility for you to be working in one, e.g., Designer, but then to choose to, e.g., Edit in Photo (for a brush or asset that you only have in Photo) all these assets actually are available in all the apps even if they are not specifically "installed" in all the apps.

emmrecs01 reacted to iconoclast in Why is this program awful, buggy, and overly complicated?
It's your personal opinion, and that is okay. But my personal opinion is totally different. Not everything is perfect in Affinity Photo, but even in Photoshop not everything is solved in the best way. Every software has its own solutions. So use the software you are most comfortable with. It's your choice.

emmrecs01 reacted to Xyphien in Why is this program awful, buggy, and overly complicated?
Since I quit using photoshop I've tried time and time again to force myself to use affinity and every time it causes me a huge headache. Why is everything overly complicated for absolutely no reason, why is it that out of no where I'm unable to use the marquee tool to select things, why is it that clicking delete when you have the marquee tool selected deletes the entire photo and not the selected are, why does the brush randomly turn into 10% opacity when it's set to 100% even through it worked two seconds ago. Why can't the program just work like any other program in existence works. It makes trying to do logos and designs a huge headache, literally. I try to google things, and the overly complicated steps to 'fix' the problems nine times out of ten don't even do what I need it to do. These features I mentioned are a single click of a button in photoshop. You select the select/marquee tool and BOOM you can use it. You select a brush, and BOOM it's being used exactly how you want it to be used. You want to delete something in the selected area? Duh, why else would. you. select. it. of course it deletes. Yet for some reason this program refuses to use common stuff that I assumed everyone used throughout history of photo editing software. Can someone please shed some light on why it's like this? If I can get some sort of logical answer it'd at least allow me to put myself in the prospective of that and I can understand that there's a purpose to this madness. However I simply cannot fathom any logical reason behind any of this sort of stuff.

emmrecs01 reacted to firstdefence in Current Affinity Versions and 2.0 Release Date
Most apps will update within the remit of that version, so 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc but when the major version changes from say version 1 to version 2 an additional upgrade fee is charged to enable continued development. In Affinity's case version 2 may be a year away or even more, just because it's on version 1.9.2 doesn't mean it's at version 1.10 the next version will be v2 it could be that v1.11, 1.12 occurs. so with each release of the 1.x.x version you get free updates.
But, the updates cannot continue forever v 1.1000.2 because the company would go bust, they supply software that requires continuous development and adaptation this takes time and skilled staff and. that costs money.
If people tried to do what Affinity/serif are doing they would not have gripes, same as employees that moan because the boss has a jag and they have a lada, try running your own company and then complain.

There doesn’t seem to be a forum setting for this, but some (most? all?) modern browsers allow you to create a ‘user stylesheet’ to control the appearance of selected web pages.

emmrecs01 reacted to Andy05 in Why “File->Open Recent” Fails
I guess he meant the welcome window, which Affinity apps start with after their first install (and which will be shown every start until deactivated).
As for @Chosen Idea, he seems to have some serious issues with the affinity apps' rights on his system. To me, it seems like some other (security?) software blocks the apps' attempts of storing this data in i. e. some kind of appdata/configs or registry entries.

emmrecs01 reacted to LondonSquirrel in Hooray for the 'Select Same' feature
One of the things I complained about in the past was the inability to select things with the same attributes, in particular fill and stroke. So I am offering my thanks and congratulations to Affinity for bringing this much wanted/needed feature.
I sometimes have to work with OpenStreetMap SVG exports. In the maps, usually only one or two buildings are important and the others are noise. This is a small snippet from a much larger map. In the past I had to select each of the unwanted buildings, all shown light brown here, and delete them.
With 'select same', I can change the colour of the one building I want to keep, then select all the other buildings by 'same fill and stroke colour', and delete them. In the snippet there are perhaps 80 buildings, which would take a few minutes individually. In the larger map there are over 1,100 of these which used to take for ever. Now it takes a second or two. This is an enormous time saver for me, probably a couple of hours for just one map. But it also saves me the frustration of having to select these one at a time.
