  1. @kat I strongly suspect you are actually running Affinity Publisher Beta, which has an option to open Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo to continue working. But that option requires both Designer and Photo be at version 1.7 and neither of these two apps has yet had version 1.7 released! IOW, this is a feature within Publisher that is not currently available. We're told that, with the release of version 1.7 for both AD and APh, we will be able to use this facility. @Dan C Hope I've guessed correctly! Jeff
  2. Hi, not sure whether this will help you but can you try the solution in this Microsoft utility? HTH Jeff
  3. No, sorry. There are several threads on various areas of the forum explaining that a licence for Windows covers only that OS; users wanting to use any of the Affinity apps on both Windows and Mac require a separate (paid-for) licence for each OS. The iPad version (so running on iOS) also has a separate licence.
  4. The only method of importing files created in the legacy Plus range of software to enable some degree of editing capability in the Affinity range is to export the files in .pdf format. A number of users have requested in this forum that Serif should create some type of "file importer" but the developers have said, essentially, this is not going to happen because of the very considerable differences in the code base between the legacy Plus range and the current Affinity range.
  5. Hi. You have just met one of the "problems" associated with the Windows Store versions of the Affinity apps, indeed of any app purchased and installed from that source. The actual installation location is C:\ProgramFiles\WindowsApps. By default, this is hidden/protected and you need permission to access it! This web page will show you how you may, relatively easily, "grant yourself permission" to access the folder. The utility which is mentioned, "TakeOwnershipEx" is perfectly safe to use - the usual advice is to proceed carefully - I have it permanently installed on my system for those occasions when Windows decides, in its wisdom, that I am not to be trusted to take full control of my own computer! You can also fully restore the default permissions simply by running TakeOwnershipEx again on the file/folder. So, to answer your specific question, if you can access the APh folder in WindowsApps and can then create a desktop shortcut and link from Lightroom, you should be good to go, I think! HTH Jeff
  6. No, I'm not sure at all! That was certainly my understanding but I may well have got it wrong. I often do!
  7. Hi, welcome to the Affinity forums. Are you aware there is a strictly time-limited free trial available to download here? This would allow you to test whether your plotting machine will work with AD as it is now. Just remember that the trial period is only 10 days starting from when you install it, not when you first use it. If it doesn't work currently I suspect only the developers can say whether your specific machine will be supported in the future. HTH Jeff
  8. @t w stevens could I ask why you are unwilling to download and install the latest customer beta(s)? They exist totally independently of the installed latest release version, but do allow the user to test any new or upgraded functionality which is being added to the next full release. The Beta Release forums also offer the opportunity to "have your say" about anything new or different and, perhaps, to actively contribute to development of the app(s). Jeff
  9. But the OP says he is using Affinity Designer! Filters>Sharpen are Photo only, aren't they? @schmety if you are wanting to "sharpen" an image you really want/need Affinity Photo. If you have only recently bought Designer, then I think you can request a refund of the purchase and then buy Photo. Or, better still (because the two apps are completely complementary, download the trial of Affinity Photo and then buy it to add to Designer! Jeff
  10. I have no previous knowledge of Photoshop. Indeed, I've never used or owned it. To me, the workbook projects are "demanding" but certainly do NOT require prior experience with PS. Just my view!
  11. I have the Huion 610Pro, the same as the OP asked about, and can happily report it works, for me, without problem in both AP and AD. Jeff
  12. Thanks Chris. Good to know it's not a problem being created by my system!
  13. But now, having just tested this again, the adjustments window lower edge is off the screen! Interestingly though, it is not as "far off" the screen as in your screenshot; I can see ALL the graph but not the buttons below the graph. And I've just repeated the test, and 100% of the window is visible!!!!!
  14. Also 1920 x 1080 and on first use I see the same problem. But, if I "correct" the error, close the program and re-open, the adjustments window now appears correct, everything visible.
  15. @George McKenna, first. welcome to the Affinity forums. Assuming you are referring to PhotoPlus X5 and X8, the former is 32 bit only and the latter can be either 32 bit or 64 bit or both, depending on which "version(s)" you selected to install. I suspect you are actually using the 32 bit versions of both. Jeff EDIT: beaten by walt.farrell
  16. My understanding of this topic is limited (to say the least) but since APhoto has no facility to connect directly to a camera (download of images is either by drag and drop from camera to computer or by using software supplied by the camera manufacturer for the purpose or, I think, using something like Lightroom) I think it is highly unlikely that "Tethering" will be possible, at least in the near future. I could of course be completely wrong in my understanding of this!
  17. @Designia Thank you for the update! All grids now visible in the Assets panel. Jeff
  18. Hi. Many thanks for these, very useful! Just one comment: although they can be easily added to the AD Assets panel, they are effectively invisible, i.e. they cannot be seen in the panel. Hovering the mouse over where one would expect each one to be creates a blue square (but no visible indication of which actual grid is chosen). Asset panel ("default" view): And when mouse hovers: Or am I missing something obvious? Very likely. Jeff
  19. Hi. Welcome to the forum. By default, apps purchased and downloaded from the Microsoft Store are installed in C:\Program Files\Windows Apps. Unless you have changed the default Windows security settings the contents of this folder are hidden; hence, you cannot "find" where AP is installed. As I understand it, any reinstall which is necessary can be done by simply selecting that option in your Microsoft Store account. Again, I understand that any update will be automatically installed once it is released by Serif to the store OTOH, I know that you cannot install MS Store apps to any version of Windows other than 10. So, for your laptops running Win 7 I'm afraid your only option is to purchase the app direct from the Serif store and yes, that does mean you will have to buy it! Jeff
  20. Hi, welcome to the Affinity forums. Is this not a question for support at Google Drive? I assume you are trying to access Google Drive to import images to either Photo or Designer? If so, do you do this by using File>Open? Can you access your Google Drive in any other app? Jeff
  21. Hi, welcome to the Affinity forums. Since your question refers to the iPad version, can I suggest you post to the dedicated iPad Suggestions forum, here?
