I was confused by this until I looked a bit closer at it. In DrawPlus, Rotate is on the Arrange menu and it rotates the object, not the canvas. The rotate canvas options are on the hintline. The Reset option is "Reset Canvas" and not "Reset Rotation." In my opinion, the wording in Affinity Designer should be changed accordingly, and a Rotate Canvas tool is needed to allow free rotation to any angle.

How do you do that? OK. I see that you first have to select the Frame Text Tool, then click on the shape. The Artistic Text Tool does not work, and simply typing with a shape selected does nothing. Also, the shape's fill and line disappear when you enter text.

I am still trying to figure out what you mean by "Typing inside a shape." Are you referring to typing text on a path? If so, I cannot see any performance issue. However, I do see an issue in that text defaults to 0.1 points when I select a path with the artistic text tool. Another issue, is that the delete key does not work to delete the text on a path object. Edit menu, Delete does work.

Although there are plenty of free access keys (B, F, J, K, Q, and Y) I don't see any better way than duplicating the M shortcut to select a "Managers" submenu with these items. A Assistant Manager… G Guides Manager… S Snapping Manager… X Grid and Axis Manager… Leaving menu items with no access key almost forces the use of the mouse. At least with duplicated access keys, only one extra keystroke is needed: Alt V, M, M, Enter, to access the Managers submenu, and Alt V, M, Enter to access the View Modes submenu.

Right, this is way off-topic, and really just a waste of time. Serif wrote their own software for this forum, but they have more sense than to waste time and money writing code to support SVG for profile graphics. You can upload a SVG, where it makes sense — to a forum post. Nobody needs to use SVG for a profile picture. It's just a software forum, not Deviant Art, or a blogging platform. Why do you need this? These two features have been requested several times, but they belong in the Feature Requests forum. It think they won't happen during this beta as the Serif developers have said that their aim to first provide parity with the MAC version of Designer.

It's late in the UK now. Maybe someone from Serif will respond tomorrow.

I think everyone will prefer not to have large handles cluttering the work area, but users with weak eyesight or poor motor skills need to enable large tool handles. They are the same users who have issues finding the hit area. BTW: I don't think it's any smaller than in DrawPlus

There's a flyout on the context toolbar. I am inclined to think that it's intentionally less capable than the swatches studio.

DrawPlus X8 also does this when rotating objects with Ctrl + Shift.

I agree that the "hit area" could be bigger. I wonder if it could be enlarged in accordance with the Tool handle sizes in Preferences, Tools.

I just came across another one in build 1.5.0.5. Print type document Select an object Double-click a colour in the swatches tab Application disappeared. The first time, I saw a dialogue briefly, but in later attempts it disappeared too quickly to read it. I think it was an unhandled exception error. Note where I double-clicked: not on the main swatches, but on the little ones above the palette. I managed to capture the error dialogue.

I was able to fix the text spacing quite easily by selecting the Default Spacing from the Text menu. I also don't have the missing fonts: Helvetica Neue and Myriad Bold. Without the right fonts, any publication is not going to look as intended. The fonts are embedded in the PDF file.

Single letters like © ® × ÷ ™ ¥ ₤ £ are all underlined as spelling errors. They are not errors.

Edit a large text frame while zoomed in as in the attached drawing. It's not a context menu. It's a tooltip. It does not appear when you right-click, it appears when you drag a guideline.

The issue still occurs if file extensions are displayed. It happens if opening an image file, and then exporting it as another type.
