  1. Hello, Designer is practically perfect for the kind of jobs I do. However, I would like to suggest adding a "save print profile with document" option for Designer. This would be very time-saving and avoid slip-ups when printing documents/projects like business cards, envelopes, etc. directly from Designer. It would avoid having to click into the printer driver UI every time the document is to be printed, perhaps only to find the profile missing for one reason or another. Cheers, Dave
  2. Hi All, First off, thanks, Affinity Team, for the 1.7 updates of Designer and Photo! The problem (see Publisher Beta install problem forum): both Designer and Photo fail to install correctly on Win 10, although after a Windows reboot for each of the two applications they install correctly. Affinity Team, I am surprised that you format installation file names "affinity-designer-1.7.1.404.exe" for use within a Windows environment, the period character usually being reserved to separate the file name from the extension. Using it can create problems, for example in some backup applications.
  3. Hi Walt, Jon, John, After I rebooted Windows (1903, freshly updated) the installations worked without a problem for both Designer and Photo. However, I still think the installation module has to be checked out. Windows changed something that obviously affected PagePlus X9, which no longer responds correctly. Cheers, Dave
  4. Hi Walt, Thanks for the reply. One of the suggestions helped -- with the 1.7 versions of Designer and Photo that were automatically signalled today. I am using Win 10-64, updated today, but before the new versions of Affinity. Both Designer and Photo produced a "Setup failed" window, which is entirely new for these programs. Previously it happened only with Publisher beta installations. Since I never have any problems with installing or updating other problems, I must suppose it to be Affinity specific, perhaps specific only to Windows. In my opinion, the team still has some homework to do. A Win restart solved the problem today, so maybe the installation routine should include one to avoid the failure. That wouldn't overtax the coding team, would it? All the best, Dave
  5. Hello, I tried to install 1.70.305 over the previous version x.x.293 on Windows 10, latest version. The insatallation failed, as it has done in the past. I'm using a 27" Samsung HD monitor at full resolution 1920X1080. This is a problem you should definitely finally solve if you want to promote sales for the Windows platform. On the sunny side, glad to read that docx files can be imported. Now it would be nice to have the possibility of integrating functionality via ole for spreadsheets, etc. Cheers, Dave
  6. Hello William, A possible workaround: Sounds like you might have some server space somewhere. So you can upload the font to a directory on your server and linke to it in the pdf document. The reader can then Ctrl+click on the link to download the (font) file. Dave
  7. Hi All, It would be very handy to be able to set default paths in Preferences for opening and saving files; compare with MS-Office Word, for example. It would make working with the programs quite a bit slicker for those who have a complex data structure. Cheers, Dave
  8. I completely agree with requiring the ability to import Office Suite data like Word/Writer texts or Excel/Calc tables. In fact, good old Page Plus has what for me is a crucially necessary component: the ability to create Excel-compatable tables right in the layout program itself. As it is, having to type in information in Affinity Publisher that one already has in another form (Excel) is a waste of time, energy and money.
  9. Hello, Regardless of how closely we look, we always miss something. Here's a possible correction in the UI for the next patch or version, step by step Open raw photo "sonyphoto.arw" Adjust & develop it Save as (rather than just save) "sonyphoto-corrected.arw" This is what you get The "as" doesn't make much sense without the new file name; the "Export item" format would maybe work, but... The "Export item" or "Save document" messages are written from the programmer's point of view; but the programmer doesn't need the message. If you programmers are writing to the user, you would have to have "Saving document", "Exporting item", etc. to make it correct, standard English and maybe make the user think (s)he's being written to...
  10. In Windows Beta changing the view back to Pixel Drawing Mode from Retina Pixel or Outline Drawing modes doesn't function on one click. Two clicks achieve the desired result, however. I assume this is a simple programming glitch that can easily be corrected.
  11. I find the UI too dark, too bland, too tiring, like staring into a dark room; would the designers please turn on the lights.
  12. I would like to the ability to save directly to .ico and .svg as well as to open them. And if it comes to that, saving to .ai would be nice, too.
