Have been using AF for about a year now. Did all of the tutorials etc - getting on well, but now seem unable to use quick masks!!
Really odd!! Click quick mask, select paint brush, but brush just paints rather than creating a selection - no marching ants .
Have redone the tutorial and cannot see what I am doing wrong - have checked forums and ensured that have white selected and that protect alpha is unchecked.
Am exasperated as I have used quick masks before very successfully. Hope someone can throw some light on this for me please.

I too am experiencing the same problem! I have been using AP for over a year now and have never had any problems with this tool before - have checked that pixel layer is selected etc. - AP then goes through the motions, but nothing changes at all. Any ideas please>

Good Evening, I have forgotten my affinity password. Clicked on the forgotten link, which says instructions will be sent to my email. However, this has not happened. Have tried several times, but no email. Can anyone throw some light on this please?

Hello - can anyone tell me an easy way of opening a photo in AF, from Photos App.
Am currently having to drag out (from photos app) onto desk top and then drag and drop into AF. Surely I am missing something obvious?

Good evening,
I import all of my photos into Apple photos.
As I cannot drag into AF from Photos, I copy into a file on my desk top and then drag in from there.
However, shooting in RAW today and when I copy to desk top, they lose the CR2 file extension and become jpg!!! When they are dragged into AF they open as a jpeg, but can click on the develop personna and they are treated as RAW!!
I suspect this is a problem with Photos app (perhaps something I have changed, as have been able to do this before), but would just like to check with experts here first.
It would be so much simpler if could drag straight into AF.

Thank you for your comments - I am getting there.
Am now able to select and add adjustments to two selections, but when I try a 3rd, am unable to make a selection - I keep going back to the original(duplicated) pixel layer. I want to be able to change the sky, sea and foreground all separately.
I am sure it is me doing something very silly - any ideas?

Good morning
Have made a selection using the selection brush tool and have applied a curves adjustment (sky). Now want to invert that selection (cannot do than either cmd I does not appear to work at this point), so that I can apply a curves adjustment to the foreground. However, I am having problems. I do not seem to be able to get rid of the selection brush tool, if that makes sense. I am confused!!
Perhaps what I am asking for is for someone to give me a run down of how to apply a curves adjustment to 2 different parts of a photograph - sky and land. Was thinking that selection tool would work (which it does for the first part (sky), but not for the second part (foreground).
I do hope this makes sense to someone.

Thanks Alex - this does help. Am still only at the pixel layer, but now I know that I do not have to concern myself with rasterise until I become more proficient and experiment with image and object layers.

Why/when would this be used.

Hello everyone, starting to get to grips with AF - but still needing help.
I am wondering, is there any feature that will allow me to change the temperature of the image - e.g. warm the whole thing up?

These units of the "measures" along the top and left hand side can be changed e.g. pixels metres etc.
Seem to be able to do everything, but it is very off putting to see these change overtime I move the cursor.

Hello there,
Very new to this app. Experimenting and somehow I now have a measurement tool on the top and on left hand side of the screen.
When I move the cursor - will only do so along the vertical and horizontal axis.
Cannot get rid of this.
Am hoping that some experts out there will be able to help me.

Good evening - why would I save my photo as afphoto instead of jpeg please.
Have seen this option in "save as". Where are these images stored?
Am assuming that best option is to export as a jpeg?

Good afternoon, excuse me if the answer to this is obvious.
Just purchased Affinity. Noticed that when I "close" program, then it still remains open in dock. When I click on in dock, or when I open after quitting, then it lists all photos that I have worked on.
Have already exported these photos. Can I get rid of this list please?
