My apologies to @old Bruce for inadvertently omitting to mention you in my despatches.
I have to add that the assistance that i have received since jointing Affinity photo some years back has been superb.
    Cheers

Old Bruce got a reaction from Callum in Stroke overlap
I am just guessing that the problem is due to coincident nodes. There are two nodes overlapping* on the stroke where the problems are occuring. This is most likely a problem with the way the font is built.

    * or so close that they appear to be overlapping.

    Hello @CM0,
obviously this is for Tim and the team to answer but from what I understand the UI controls are going to be part of the release.

@walt.farrell Thanks, Walt. Perhaps Windows won't record Macros if clicking on the Develop Persona, but either method works on my Mac. I can select the Move tool and click Develop Image, or just click on the Develop Persona. Just tried it again to make sure.

What is happening is that the text is being converted to Pixels instead of remaining as Vectors. You may have an Effect or Adjustment on those pages that is extended to the text frames.

Old Bruce reacted to MikeTO in Usability - critical document metadata and tabbing in Publisher
I don't find the location for this option to be difficult to access, but I agree that you should be able to set metadata such as author and title in Designer and that you should be able to tab from field to field. Note that you can set the author name in Photo - it's in the Metadata panel.
Note that you can also set the default value for Publisher's Author field so that you don't have to keep doing this for each PDF. To set the default, enter your name in the Author field in the Fields panel and press Return when you have no documents open.

Here on my Mac it is set to what I set it to. I have Linked chosen and all new raw files I open up have that Linked set. If I change it to Pixels then the next raw file I open will have Pixels chosen.

Old Bruce reacted to wonderings in Canva
I would not say the community is conservative, rather they are happy and content. I came up when everyone had different versions of Adobe and other software, it was a constant thing, someone would send an Indesign or Illustrator made in a newer version then what we had. And vice versa, would send out working files that were needed. There was a lot of fragmentation with Adobe, as well as the others that were much larger in those times like Quark and Corel. Now, I never even think about those things, everyone is using the same software (for the most part). life is so much easier because of this. As Affinity grows into new versions they will come across this as well. I have no upgraded to V2 of the Affinity suite, but have the full package with V1. Initially I bought them because they were cheap and I wanted to see what the competition was offering over Adobe. Now if I look at files someone uploaded on the forum when asking for help, I can't open many of them as they are in V2 and I am V1. This will grow larger as some people will be fine with what they have now so there is no real incentive to pay for an upgrade. This is not an issue with Adobe, we are all using the same software.

I am not a huge fan of Canva, it is created more headaches for me with clients who think they can prepare print files properly in Canvas. Yes they could if they knew what they were doing, but that is the point, few actually know what they are doing in order to give proper files ready to go. Editing Canvas files was a real pain. Not sure if they have gotten better as it has been a number of years since I have received a file made in Canva. When clients have an inexperienced graphics person I always recommend Affinity simply for the feature set for the price point. People and companies not making their living with graphics are not going to pay a subscription fee for Adobe, but are more willing to pay a low cost once for apps like the Affinity suite. I hope and assume Canva sees value in what was created here, and with their resources will be able to take it to another level. I am not expecting they would simply turn the Affinity apps into offline Canvas apps, there would be much cheaper ways to do that.

    Works for me.
You may need do adjust your workflow:
use symbols to create 3 instances of the tile to allowing to get perfect transition on both sides use a enclosing rectangle to cut out the perfect master do this in the first step (creating the PNG), not in the later step of importing the brush, for better results

@GloomyBee Your file is a 32 bit Linear gamma file. Is there any reason for using this workspace?
Exporting to standard PNG from 32 bit Linear gives you that gray shift due to the gamma conversion from linear to 2.2 gamma. If you convert your Designer file to 16 or 8 bit before exporting, it exports properly and looks like your original Designer file.

Went with an 'Artistic Text' box replicating the '1. Motivation' etc and created it a style 'numberedfaux'.
I set its font opacity to 100% and set it to 'float with text' so that it will flow.
    TOC is now very pretty.
    Thanks for the steer...

Salutations Old Bruce!  At least one of the issues has an easy resolution!  I must admit that I had come to a similar conclusion regarding the bulleted/numbered list - but thanks for the suggestions.  I'll have a play (eh, work hard on this) tomorrow and let you know what I finally went with.

As mentioned by @Hangman, for the simple case of fixed-content labels, you shouldn't need a spreadsheet.

Hi @papiertigre and welcome to the forums,
One approach you could try is to use the Data Merge Layout Tool in Publisher...
With the tool selected drag out a rectangle to match the dimensions of all 20 labels based on two across x ten deep setting the Columns to 2 and the Rows to 10 in the context toolbar.
Anything added in the top left cell, text frames, graphics etc., will be repeated in the remaining 19 cells.
When it comes to making changes to all 20 labels you simply edit the content of the top left cell and these changes will be automatically reflected in the other 19 instances...
Let us know if that works for you...

I use my Mac's Finder to organize and tag my images and occasionally the Canon application DPP4 for culling my Canon raw files. I have always used the Finder to sort and organize my photos even back in the day when I had the Adobe CS applications including Bridge. Your computer's file system can be your friend and is fairly future-proof.

Maybe.. But I suspect that most people that dislike 2.x might be due to a first impression: they found the situation (too many bugs, initially) at the moment of launch, and left, just switched to other platform. Some others lasted a bit more trying with 2.x, by digging for workarounds by themselves and in the forum. And some (if this thread could serve as a sample, then at least a nice percentage) of us went quite farther and kept seeing huge improvements every next release they made in 2.x, fine tuning tons of things. I have more stability now in 2.4 than I ever had in 1.x (even the best version of 1.x), and the functionality I can make use of is quite more complete in 2.4, plus getting better performance. I don't know the stats, though (of how many of those 3 million users are using 2.x or 1.x). There's also another important issue: for a long time I had projects fully made in 1.x. I did not want to risk (even if there were no risks) a back and forth between 1.x and 2.x. But finished those projects, now I only work with the latter.

    @Alessio Principe,
In addition to Oufti's excellent suggestion I would go a step further and make a Master Page and name it Grey Background consisting of the coloured background rectangle only and apply that Master page to all my Master Pages. Then it is a simple matter of going to that one Master Page (at export time) and turning off the grey layer. Automatically all your pages will have the grey layer removed for printing or export or whatever.

Old Bruce reacted to philipt18 in Seeing which Master is applied to a page
It only happens when the left and right pages of the spread have different master pages applied to them. I wonder if this is a bug related to the fact that the items on the right side show up even if only the left side is applied (and visa versa). I've always found that weird, and never heard a good explanation as to why that was done.

Be careful with how you just worded that. Some companies charge for the right to post on their forums. (It's been brought up already)

The user can look forward to paying for access to obscure Mac hardware references, bad software jokes and a chance to face off with a random Serif employee in a vicious death match over whether certain functionality is a feature or a bug. $5/mo. Free with paid Canva membership.
