That's okay, though. We Windows users need you 20% ers to keep buying your stylish Macs, 'cause Microsoft always needs somebody to copy. Otherwise, we'd still be looking at green 80 column letters on black screens.

Is it possible to set the Top Align, Center Vertically, Bottom Align and Justify Vertically options in a Text Style?
Those are properties which can be set for Text Frames and they can not be set for paragraphs in a Paragraph Style.

View > View Mode > Clip to Canvas is not ticked I will wager. The tip off is where on the ruler your "0" is at the page edge.

It is in the current version of the beta. Text > Insert > Fields > Next/Previous Frame Page Number. make a pair of linked frames and type into the first one "continued on page <Next Frame Page Number>" <Frame Break> "continued from page <Previous Frame Page Number>"

HI Old Bruce
A number of us here have tried this and we are not getting any crashes. Is it a particular document that you are getting this with or is it on all documents of any size? If it is specific would you be able to provide the document at all?
Thanks
Only happened yesterday, I guess a shutdown and restart cleared up the problem. Today with three different documents, including the original problem files, it all worked like a charm. Thanks for checking. I'll try to temper my enthusiasm when finding problems in the future.

Post a small publisher file that this happens with.

This happens when I enter a number into the pages studio to jump to it, the caret is there waiting for me to enter a page number and as soon as I touch one of the number keys it crashes.

double click at the 8,9 of 486 to enter the caret.

Voilà
You had the text wrap too high, I changed it to 1 mm from 3 mm.

the title on the top has a strange behavior that's wrong. It shouldn't be retiring so much since the image ends early.
Looks like you have Text Wrap on the Frame for the headline and the text is flowing away from the image.

Whatever caused the problem, I no longer have it, because the files are gone.
I saw this comic and wondered if you know Randal (or does he know you?) You get the weirdest problems.

I suspect we both still use old money and ft and inches!
If by old money you mean £/s/p then no due to being a Canuck, I did chance across a farthing in change once here in Canada. I do remember Dominion Day and the Red Ensign, I also slip up once in while and refer to Armistice Day.
Feet & Inches sure but Gallons through to Fluid Ounces are tricky living next the US.

Sadly this is how it works. We have to place Text Frames on pages, Master Page Text Frames are currently only useful for things like Page Numbers and with several Master Pages applied we can use repeating Text like headers or section names.
As much as I am enjoying testing the beta this lack of functionality is a deal breaker for me.

a simple practical solution. He makes up a simple physical booklet of the right size, then numbers the page pairs.
I still do this on occasion.

Don't hide the layers, show all the layers, they won't interfere with each other.

Try it in Window > Separated mode.
As they say on The Good Place "What the Fork!"
In Separated Mode the exact same thing as you described happens. Now you have to decide on better title for this behaviour.

FYI I find this works with either the Move or Node tool.
Test 7 was created in 1.7.0.3 and as I worked on it this problem got worse and worse. I did try doing a reset, but the progression continues getting worse. When I figured out a method to reproduce the problem I made a test copy and just started stripping off layers. This had been several meg. When I got down to Test 7 I figured I'd have someone else try it. I think there are other ways to trigger this but the above seems to work every time for me.
Hi,
I am not seeing what you get. As soon as I release the command key the regular bounding box returns. The other thing is that as soon as I press the command key I get the values for the distance on the thin blue lines.

I also have shots of my Preferences

It may be a different setting. I am baffled.

I would add that clearing paragraph and/or character styles has been a hit or miss for me as to whether it actually happens or not.
Doesn't seem to be A way to do that very simple job. (have you yelled "Stop That!" at the screen whilst trying?)

(the only more annoying thing is when they make 8mm bleed “just to be on the safe side” when I said it needs to be 2mm). :-)
Thank-you for my morning chuckle.

For instance as regards layout, at the proofing stage, I received word from the publisher that they wanted a margin change. Try that in APub on a book at the proof stage. It can certainly be done, but it isn't as quick and assured.
I know what you mean. There are a couple of things (anchored objects/image/tables and Text Frames on the Master Pages behaving like a Master Page Text Frame) which flabbergast me with their absence.
As much as I am enjoying the bug hunt and wrapping my brain around another piece of software I can say I will not buy it until those are included.

I tried to replicate this yesterday and came up blank. When I have had odd difficulties of this sort I find a restart of the Mac makes a big difference. From your signature I see you are using a 9 year old machine with the same OS as I have so give it a try or even 'zap the pram' as we used to do back in the day (P + R + option + command held down at restart until you hear the start-up tone twice).

Let's say I need to get to a certain point back by clicking ctrl+z, then I need to look at it, and maybe redo by clicking ctrl+shift+z. In AD if I click on the background while in the middle of this, ALL undo/redo history is gone. Is this a bug or is it suppose to work this way?
Okay, I see what you mean. I am surprised I never noticed this before.
It is supposed to work that way, I have always just used undo + redo to get to the point I want then pick-up the pen/mouse and begin working from that point. I do see that an inadvertant mouse click will destroy the redo path but the 1.7.0.x beta of designer has the ability to store 'paths' of redo/undo so going forth and back.

My mistake :-)
Just received it isn't a bug waiting to come along and bite me. The behaviour is not unexpected when I think about it but it is rather disappointing and unintuitive. It would be nice to be able to open a TIFF and do some work on it.
